Okay, then 90...

Still, PROVE that Brad Pitt is thought to be more of a box office draw than Will Smith.

You're saying 90 - 100 (MORE than 'I Am Legend'), so now I see the ceiling (if you are right) less than 90 mill rather than 78 mill but now more because no where have I ever heard of Brad Pitt being more of a box office draw than Will Smith.

This movie is not about Brad Pitt as much as it's about a Phreakin Awesome Action Packed Zombie Movie... you can replace Brad, and it'll still do just as well..

If i am not mistaken, this i not your typical Zombie Movie.. this is Zombies like transformers... it's probably more in tune with the 'blockbuster epic action movie' rather than just a typical zombie movie..

You do realize that THAT is exactly what 'I Am Legend' was, right? 'I Am Legend' was the highest grossing movie of its kind! There's a reason I and analysts are using it that seems to be lost on you.

Also MU will be a huge hit, and it will be competition but it will take the families away that weekend while MOS retains the large part of the older crowd (MAJORITY of word of mouth in fact are giving it 9/10 or higher (the critics evidently and obviously missed the boat here)). It will be like 'Happy Feet' vs. 'Casino Royale.'

The critics loved Into Darkness and yet it couldn't muster 90mil in four days.

Where is this 100mil tracking for WWZ?

Brad pitt makes borderline indie films box office draws....Brad is the most popular actor in the freaking world

I dont know how WW And MU are going to do ,
But I dont think staying at Number 1 is going to be a walk in the park for MOS either.

Once again, prove it. I'm hearing a lot of talking and not a lot of proof. We already know analysts have stated Will Smith to be box office gold repeatedly. So, prove that Pitt draws in more of a crowd than Smith.

He is the ONLY one stating it, analysts have it at less and are similarly making the 'I Am Legend' reference (the only one of its kind to do well). I'm not saying it won't bring in money, I'm looking at 500-550 mill worldwide or possibly with 3D 585 mill but no way more than that.

Me n my wife have no interest to watch WWZ. N she thought brad looks like an uncle. I could be wrong. As I have been wrong all the time. Lol.

Just relax n enjoy the show

At this point the RT score and all others are irrelevant and just a curiosity.
The movie is a hit and we are getting sequels, the Justice League, etc.
Great time to be a Superman fan!

Ah.. NO! I am Legend is a typical Zombie movie..

This one is a Mega Blow your Socks off, Action Packed movie... EPIC.. I am Legend is hardly that... And according to early critics, not only is it your typical action movie, it's also surprisingly well done...

Nothing's lost on me...

Because all of will smith movies are blockbuster or bust, brad takes indie cheap indie films and make them into box office draws.

Brad pitt is a more popular actor than will smith..

Why does MOS need to be number one more than one weekend? It's obvious that it's not going to be number one next weekend but whocares when it's making money? I sure don't. Yes MU and WWZ are going to hurt it, duh we knew that from the beginning.

There are like 3 people on this forum who think the movie will bomb because they didn't like it......I don't understand how they came to that conclusion.

You're right, it's not likely to be number 1, and may not need to at all if it's got legs.. it might still be a slow burn...

The one things for sure, it's already going to blow out almost all predictions on this board... (except, maybe for my ultra high one, heh)...

If WWZ has that kind of action why aren't they showing it? Why aren't they promoting that? All I and a lot of people are seeing is a big mass of people huddling together in a big moving blob in TWO scenes (NYC people running and in the desert town people running). We haven't seen anything beyond that and the movie comes out next week. I don't see any action, I see running in two locations. Thus, it seems way more like a slow-burn talking thriller with a couple of scenes to show the impact. The trailers don't show any more than that.

Brad Pitt is the better actor, yes, but again prove that he is more of a box office draw. Which you seemingly can't do because you would have done so already. If he was, it would be beyond simple to find an article online stating that Brad Pitt's movies have the potential to bring in more than Will Smiths' or Tom Cruise's or etc.

because of the huge potential drop.

Slow down man. You have no idea if a JL movie is coming or not. No one does at this point. WB can announce sequels and DCU projects all day. Its meaningless until the numbers roll in. And even then, anything but a mega successful box office will leave a JL movie exactly where it is today: In LIMBO. Which is a good thing. If WB/DC believe in and "get" characters like WW or the Flash or Aquaman, theres only one way to prove it.

That said, even a moderately succesful MoS will likely result in a sequel. And despite it (apparently) not being a great film, Id be shocked if it didnt make at least 600 million worldwide. That should be enough to ensure a second film.

Also Pitt is (good, thoughtful) producer. He's a film buff. He has eclectic tastes and is willing to be part of an ensemble. He would never in a million years be involved in garbage like After Earth. His career (actor, producer) will be in a much better place in five years than either Cruise or Smith. Being a (relatively) normal dude helps.

Pitt is hugely popular overseas but he isn't as big as Cruise and Smith.

It's funny those huge 60% drops didn't stop Lions Gate from making another Hunger Games and it didn't stop Universal from making more Fast and Furious films. Unless the movie has Ang Lee Hulk legs it's getting a sequel.

Exactly and if he was, it would be beyond simple for this guy to find an article stating that because there are dozens of articles about Cruise and Smith that do go into that.

Making 'I Am Legend' money is far from a bad thing for WWZ, it would have been a GREAT thing if they kept the budget together.

Am i reading things wrong here?

You think tom cruise is more popular than brad pitt?

If this guy keeps this up after this, we know he's not going to listen.

BRAD PITT AT BOX OFFICE:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/chart/?view=Actor&id=bradpitt.htm&sort=gross&order=DESC&p=.htm

His highest movie brought in 186 million. Most recent highest -- 148 mil (Megamind). Only Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Oceans Eleven got in the 180 mil range, ALL his other movies are 148 mil and below.

TOM CRUISE AT BOX OFFICE:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/chart/?view=Actor&id=tomcruise.htm&sort=gross&order=DESC&p=.htm

His highest movie brought in 234 million. Most recent highest -- 209 mil (Mission Impossible).

WILL SMITH AT BOX OFFICE:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/chart/?view=Actor&id=willsmith.htm&sort=gross&order=DESC&p=.htm

His highest movie brought in 306 million. Most recent highest -- 227 mil ('I Am Legend').

Money talks, where are all of these supposed Pitt movies that even got close?

He's definitely up there. Probably top five. But he doesnt do choose the same kinds of projects as Will Smith or Cruise or even Johnny Depp. So box office isnt the best or only gauge of popularity.

I'd probably put Leonardo at the top. Will Smith is on a steep decline, as are most of the fifty somethings that peaked in the 90's and 00's. Denzel, who must be around 60 by now, is still going strong. Id put him over Will Smith at this point despite his age.

And we are talking today, not what they did ten twenty years ago. There was a time when Smith was one of the biggest. Not anymore.
