If this guy keeps this up after this, we know he's not going to listen.

BRAD PITT AT BOX OFFICE:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/chart/?view=Actor&id=bradpitt.htm&sort=gross&order=DESC&p=.htm

His highest movie brought in 186 million.

TOM CRUISE AT BOX OFFICE:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/chart/?view=Actor&id=tomcruise.htm&sort=gross&order=DESC&p=.htm

His highest movie brought in 234 million.

WILL SMITH AT BOX OFFICE:

http://www.boxofficemojo.com/people/chart/?view=Actor&id=willsmith.htm&sort=gross&order=DESC&p=.htm

His highest movie brought in 306 million.

Money talks, where are all of these supposed Pitt movies that even got close?

The user under you

Tom cruise is the tim tebow of actors right now and will smith is on a decline.

Brad Pitt has NEVER gotten over 150 mil except for on TWO films -- Oceans Eleven and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. And Ocean's Eleven, he wasn't the leading man - so in that case personally I'd only count Mr. and Mrs. Smith. His HIGHEST OPENING WEEKEND OF ALL TIME is 50 MILL (when taking both films into account), yet with this film he's not only going to get the highest to date but DOUBLE his opening weekend record of all time?!

In 2011 Cruise brought in 209 million with Mission Impossible. Will Smith brought in 179 mill in 2012 (LAST YEAR!) with 179 mil - which is more than ALL of Brad Pitt's movies except for two of them, the last of which came out in 2005.

As said, money talks.

If Pitt brings in 'I Am Legend' money it will be his HIGHEST grossing movie to date.

No one is saying he's a bad actor, I'd say he's the better actor. But not in terms of money.

Please look at the budget of a brad pitt movie...His contract alone is 25% of the budget....Not to mention his face and name alone are enough .

Brad Pitt?, Tom Cruise?.. they are the past man

Throw a dart and you'll likely hit a more popular actor today... The Rock, RDJ, etc...

Friday Update #3: Revised numbers indicate that Man of Steel's haul from Friday-Sunday should end up north of $125 million. The superhero flick is definitely shattering the cautious expectations that Warner Bros. crafted before opening weekend. Man of Steel will have no problem topping the previous record holder for the best opening weekend in June: 2010's Toy Story 3 with $110.3 million.

This Is The End is certainly finding an audience even with Man of Steel dominating. The raunchy comedy could hit $25 million from Friday-Sunday, which would put its 5-day total at around $38 million.

Check back tomorrow morning for official studio estimates.

Friday Update #2: Sources tell BoxOffice that Man of Steel is on pace for at least $45 million on Friday. The final Friday figure will likely end up closer to $50 million, which means that Man of Steel's first weekend in North America could bring in $120 million or more.

WB clearly decided to hinder expectations by saying that the film would end up in the $90 million range this weekend. The recent announcement that a sequel is already moving forward shows that they knew they had a massive film on their hands. The global potential of Man of Steel is huge. Keep in mind that the much-maligned Superman Returns made nearly $400 million globally back in 2006. A true crowd-pleaser like Man of Steel could end up doubling that sum.

Man of Steel may become of the biggest examples of a critic-proof film in quite some time. The superhero flick currently has a mediocre 58% approval rating on RottenTomatoes.com. Audiences around the country are clearly shrugging off the critical consensus.
We'll see about it being critic-proof... but very encouraging so far.

LMAOL.

Dude, who cares about money?

We are talking about how much each of them draw from the theaters. That's all we're talking about. So, get back on target here will you?

Budget has no implication on how much money a movie will bring in. Budget is meaningless to how much money a movie brings in. He might return a lot, but theater wise he has yet to get an audience of over 189 mil. And that's just two films, more accurately he has yet to break beyond 150 mill on 88% of the films he makes.

He may be a good actor, but saying he has more of a box office pull than Smith and Cruise are a joke. I'm seriously wondering if you are being serious any more or if you ever were about this claim.

Definitely. But the 2nd and 3rd weekends will tell the story. Word of mouth, good or bad, will be the deciding factor.

And again, using box office numbers to determine bankability is too crude to be useful. Shia LeBeouf (sp?), thanks to Transformers 1-3, has huge box office numbers attached to his name. But no one would claim that hes a more popular or bankable star than Brad Pitt.

An even better example is Daniel Radcliff. He scrawny ass doesnt even rank next to Pitt or Depp or Washington or about a dozen other leading men. Box office is just one crude measure, and i assure you the studios use a much more sophisticated metric when determining salaries etc.

True. Throw a dart and you'll see Brad Pitt nowhere on the list. He's a great actor, but he isn't a money draw. 88% of his films have yet to pull in more than 150 mil and his highest is 189 mil. If this brings in 'I Am Legend' money (which you guys are seeing as a bad thing for some weird reason)? Not only will he get his HIGHEST opening weekend number to date, but HIGHEST grossing film to date. You guys are DOUBLING what every Pitt movie has made to date, not just going higher - DOUBLING.

Not sure if it'll double... and not sure how MOS will affect WWZ and vice versa (wwz affecting MOS), and not sure how MU affects them all...

too many darn variables... either way, I don't think we can definitively say how much of a draw Brad Pitt is based on the movie's draw.. it could just be the 'action packed summer blockbuster pull' or a 'zombie fan' pull... or, both..

I AM LEGEND OPENED TO 77 MILLION.

How is predicting a 95-100 million for wwz out of the question when you include inflation and 3d?

Thing is though -- where's the action? In the trailers they've only shown us:

- People running through New York City (every summer film has that)
- A mass of zombies piling together in a desert town.

If they do have that "action packed" -- why aren't they promoting it? Instead they're promoting it as a typical thriller with two impact scenes to show what happens.

Because, simply put, Pitt is nowhere near the box office draw that Will Smith is and was. Smith's worst blockbuster in recent years is (other than After Earth) pulled in 30 mil more than all but two of Pitt's best money makers. And Will Smith's draw without a doubt added to that film's take. 'I Am Legend' is the highest grossing film of its kind. Simply put, I'm taking star pull into account because of that.

Will Smith in 2007 was a ridiculously bigger draw than Brad Pitt has ever been.

WWZ will do 40-50 ... MU will do 70-80 ... MOS (if it clears 125) will do 55-60.

People see 'different' things... i see lots of action.. you don't... not sure why... most of my friends thought it would be 'action packed'... so, again, not sure why you don't think it will be...

Because brad pitts face and name is enough.

Just look at how inglourious bastards marketing didn't include shoshana or any other of the bastards, even though they had more screen time than he did.

Inglorious made 120 mil.

Seriously look at those stats, for the most part double is not enough - in many cases it would triple all but one of his opening weekends if it makes 100.

yeah everything ive seen regarding WWZ suggest a breakneck pace and lots of action. not sure if its any good, but i doubt a lack of action will be a problem.

Are you serious? will smith has never been more popular than brad............

Wwz will do 95-100 mu will do 98 million

Now that you mention it, I can't even remember a single movie with Brad Pitt in it that I liked... (I probably did, but just not that memorable)...

Will Smith on the other hand.. .easy.. Independence Day, MIB, Hancock, I, Robot, Hitch..
