Gazillion adds Colossus, Ms. Marvel costumes to Marvel Heroes

If you've been thinking that what Marvel Heroes really needs is another couple of costumes, well, the game's newest blog post is probably going to put a smile on your face. Gazillion's new title already boasts over 110 costumes, but the company says it's just getting started.

The newest update adds a pair of 1980s-era outfits, one for Ms. Marvel and one for Colossus. Both are available either via an in-game loot drop or the cash shop. Click through to the original post for more info and a couple of close-up images.

Dupe hero tokens, UP exclusives, Hulk as War and other updates

Hey all, I wanted to give you a brief update on a number of issues that have been hanging around - some just outstanding stuff, some things that have flared elsewhere.

Duplicate hero tokens from previous iterations of Doom: Remember when you got a token for the same Starter Hero you played from Doctor Doom? Yeah, that wasn't good. If token is still in your account, we're fixing it, turning it into a 'mystery package' that will grant a hero - not a token for your already unlocked hero. ETA is end of this week.

Ultimate Pack Exclusive costumes from crafting recipes: This is a bug that's being fixed (ETA: end of this week). Anyone who has crafted an exclusive costume will have that costume replaced with a non-exclusive costume. Yes, we want exclusive UP costumes to remain exclusive.

Hulk as WAR: Affected by the same bug as the UP exclusive costumes; he's able to be crafted right now. Apologies; it's being fixed. Yes, it's annoying when you've waited patiently and paid for the costume as part of a pack. The costume will be fulfilled to all Ultimate Pack and Hulk Smash Premium Pack owners ASAP, and after that, will go on sale in the store, and will be restored to the crafting/loot tables. ETA on bug fix (preventing crafting temporarily) is this week. ETA on fulfillment is next week.

Ultimate Pack/Premium Pack owners launch day compensation pet: is about done and is cool and will be fulfilled, hopefully, next week. Reveal and images soon.

Other things I've been asked about:

- Limbo changes. An overall look at this, endgame goals etc is coming.

- Your feedback on pricing is being discussed internally. Hope to have more to say on that soon.

- An overall update on what's coming next for the game is in the works, and we will be trying to improve communication in that regard too - a lot of planning has been happening on the dev side.

- Ticket volume for Customer Support is (finally) getting back to normal levels. We do still have tickets to go through - we'll get there this week.

UPDATE, 6/20:

Duplicate tokens: In tonight's patch; notes are here.

Ultimate Pack costume crafting: Bug fixed in tonight's patch, and costumes will be replaced.

Hulk as WAR: Looking pretty good to be turning up in your STASH next week.

Pet? What pet? Oh, this pet? (Straight from the pages of Marvel Comics...) He's coming soon...

Crafting Changes

 • New Crafting Recipe: Swap Costume Affixes (Crafting Vendor Rank 4)
 • This recipe allows you to swap all affixes between two different costumes - useful for when you buy a new costume and want swap all your affixes and core onto that costume. This recipe replaces the Transfer Costume Affixes recipe, and upgrades the old recipe which transferred affixes from 1 costume to a new costume. This recipe also swaps the cores and visual affixes.

 • Hood's medal and medallion have had it's "flames" effect damage increased.
 • Venom's medal and medallion's effect has had it's damage increased.

Bug Fixes

 • Ultimate Pack exclusive costumes from crafting recipes: Fixed an issue where some players received Ultimate Pack exclusive costumes from a rank 20 crafting recipe. These costumes can no longer be crafted. All the exclusive costumes have been replaced with a random, non-exclusive costume with the same affixes. (This applies whether the costume is equipped, in an inventory or in a STASH.)
 • Duplicate hero tokens from early iterations of Doctor Doom: If you have a special hero token currently in your inventory that can only be used to unlock a hero you already own, upon login it will be transformed into a Gift Box which contains a Starter Hero you do not have unlocked. If you have unlocked all the Starter Heroes then it will contain a Fortune Card. (This fix should only apply to players who gained a duplicate token after June 4th.)
 • Bovine Sector: Players can now only enter the Bovine Sector once per consumable item, and the portal will go away when the player leaves the Bovine Sector.

UI Fixes

 • The Max Defense Reduction stat is now properly displayed on the character sheet.
 • The tooltip for Bonus XP on the Character Sheet stats tab has been corrected.

Boss Fixes

 • Fixed an issue where the ‘Freezing’ affix effect would activate inappropriately or too early for many boss powers.
 • Fixed Rhino, Lady Deathstrike, Kingpin, and Juggernaut not receiving charm resistance while charging.
 • Magneto: Will once again chase his target during Metal Storm.
 • Mandarin: Ice Ring will no longer immobilize targets (unless they remain in the AOE long enough to be stunned).
 • Wizard: Fixed an issue where Wizard's Triple Disc throw had all three discs on top of each other instead of spread out at 30 degree angles.

Hero / Power Fixes

 • Cable - Searing Shot: Fixed an issue where visual effects when hitting enemies were not seen.
 • Captain America – Aggressive Shout: Fixed an issue where the power had both a 10 second buff and an ongoing (lasts until turned off) buff, and only one of them was being shown.
 • Daredevil: Radar Sense now properly dodges incoming skillshots, and displays the correct chance on its tooltip.
 • Iron Man: Synergies for Channeled Repulsors have been fixed.
 • Spider-Man: Re-enabled animations for the /wave and /showoff emotes for Spider-Man's Symbiote costume.

Item / Pet Fixes

 • Creatures summoned by artifacts and medals, such as a Moloid Leaper and Sinister Clones, are now summoned at the level of the item instead of at level 1.
 • Pets are no longer targeted by bouncing attacks.
 • Madame Hydra Medal: Fixed an issue where the medal would grant invulnerability to nearby orbs as well as players.
 • Doctor Doom Medal: Fixed an issue stopping hero movement when its fear effect activates.
 • Mole Man Medal: Moloid Leapers summoned by the medal now attack enemies more frequently.

Audio Fixes

 • Fixed an issue where sound could be lost intermittently after changing locations.

In-Game Store Fixes

 • When buying Gs, the United States state selection list can now be scrolled past ‘Tennessee’ as intended.
 • G purchases should now correctly display in supported local currencies at checkout.

Known Major Issues

 • French and German localization is almost, but not entirely complete; some English text may be found.
 • Frame rate may drop when in the Wretched Slum location, Hell's Kitchen, or Upper East Side.
 • Powers that deal damage over time currently cannot score critical hits.

Missions

 • The Army Base sewer Treasure Room has no Treasure Chest.
 • Some of the Missile Silo Treasure Rooms have no enemies.

Bosses

 • Changing locations (regions) during Dr. Doom’s cinematic sequences or during his death animation will cause the player’s hero to be unable to move.
 • Dr Doom may become invisible upon reentering his boss room after being defeated.
 • Mandarin: Movement speed debuff and fire DoT powers can sometimes remain in effect until you are defeated, switch heroes, or log out.

UI and In-Game Store

 • Ms. Marvel Binary costume is incorrectly listed as Enhanced.

Endgame
Avenger’s Mansion
o Green Daily – Castle Doom – Mini Map appears to be unpopulated and shows nothing.

Xavier’s School/SHIELD Helicarrier:
o Green Daily – Castle Doom – Doctor Doom’s number of affixes change depending on his form rather than staying constant as intended.
o Green Daily – Castle Doom - Doctor Doom’s number of affixes change depending on his form rather than staying constant as intended.
Limbo: If Sabretooth spawns as the end boss in Limbo, he sometimes stops moving and attacking half way through the battle.

Items/Artifacts

 • Phoenix Feather: There is no UI indication on cooldown timer.
 • Latverian Regalia: Pets do not do extra damage when artifact is equipped, as intended.
 • Green Goblin Medal: Green Goblin Medal poison cloud is invisible.
 • Vita-Ray Projector: There is no dodge chance bonus given on critical hit.

Heroes

 • Flight powers can get locked when flying over food trucks.
 • Teleporting to a party member while flying may cause the player to no longer deal damage to enemies when performing powers.

Black Panther

 • Some gear icons are black silhouettes – gear can still be equipped.

Captain America

 • Invigorating Shout: The power has a 10-second buff and an ongoing (lasts until turned off) effect, but it does not show either of them. Health regeneration does not show up on character sheet.

Colossus

 • Lingering Boon: Tooltip is incorrect. Each rank actually extends aura duration by 2 seconds.
 • When attacked while Invulnerable, Colossus’ armor still depletes as if he was taking damage.

Deadpool

 • Superior Healing Factor: Currently, the effect of this power only increases every other rank gained.

Rocket Raccoon

 • Tactical Destruction: Tooltip does not correctly display bonus damage from shield cost.

Storm
Lightning Storm: Power does not do correct damage over time.

Wolverine

 • Regeneration Boost: Tooltip is incorrect. Power does not spend Fury to gain health faster as described.
 • Character sheet does not reflect health regeneration from Healing Factor (but displays resistances from passive powers)

Here's the latest update

Mystery Egg

The previous ‘Special Mission Reward’ box has been transformed into… a Mystery Egg. Players affected by the ‘unlock only’ bug (from around launch) will find an item called ‘Mystery Egg’ in their inventory if they had an unused hero token that was ‘unlock only’ (the bugged token). This item will ‘hatch’ into a new Starter Hero unlock in a near-future patch, so don’t destroy it.

Crafting Changes

New Crafting Recipe: Swap Costume Affixes (Crafter Rank 4)

This recipe allows you to swap all affixes between two different costumes - useful for when you buy a new costume and want to swap all your affixes and core onto that costume. This recipe replaces the Transfer Costume Affixes recipe, and upgrades the old recipe, which transferred affixes from 1 costume to a new costume. This recipe also swaps the cores and visual affixes.

Design Note: Our old recipe transferred affixes and caused players to accidentally delete affixes if they didn’t execute it properly. We’ve replaced the recipe to ensure people don’t accidentally nerf themselves.

Bovine Sector (AKA Cow Level)

Crafting the Bovine Sector recipe now takes 1 hour instead of 10 hours.

Design Note:
We think the Bovine Sector (cow level) is fun and it’s on our list of high-priority items to work on. Since we fixed the bug that allowed multiple uses, we decided it would be more fun to reduce the crafting time to 1 hour. This is a very small first step in a plan to make your battle against the Skrull-Cows as fun, challenging and rewarding as possible.

Ultimate Pack Costumes

Ultimate pack exclusive costumes can no longer be destroyed by dropping them.

Artifact and Medallion Improvements:

Design Note: We did a pass on all items and artifacts to ensure maximum fun. We found about 70 items that were below our power curve, so we buffed all of them and will roll them out over the next two patches. We found 1 item that that was dramatically above our power curve, so we reduced its power level.

We want players to have a lot of different options with items, and to select items based on their play style and build. If someone enjoys pets, there should be viable items to support that build. If people prefer a dodge build, crit build or AoE build then there should be options to support that style build.

You’ll notice that we focused on buffs rather than nerfs, which is what we strongly prefer. We don't like reducing an item’s power as a general rule because we know that players spend time farming and trading for specific items.

Our one nerf was Edge of Infinity because it was dealing the highest damage, by far, of any item in the game. It wasn’t even close. In this case we decided to reduce only the base damage, but leave it as the strongest pure damage item for many builds, particularly crit focused builds.

Once these changes are live, we will be monitoring performance and player feedback. We will continue to adjust them to give players the freedom to choose the artifact that fits their playstyle best.

• Rhino Medallion and Taskmaster Medallion now increase Max Damage Reduction.

• Increased the chance for the Doctor Doom Medallion's fear effect slightly.

• Increased the Power Radius bonus from Chapter 8 Doctor Octopus' medal slightly.

• Electro's medal and medallion now list the damage dealt by the chance-on-hit effect.

• The damage for Electro's medal and medallion's chance-on-hit effect has been greatly increased.

• Lady Deathstrike's medal and medallion's bleed damage has been doubled.

• Living Laser's medal and medallion's damage has been greatly increased.

• Living Laser's medal and medallion now lists the damage dealt by the chance-on-hit effect.

• Living Laser's medallion will now grant approximately double the spirit it was granting previously.

• Mandarin's medal and medallion now lists the damage dealt by the chance-on-hit effect.

• Increased Mandarin's medal and medallions chance-on-hit damage for all effects.

• Pyro's medal and medallion now lists the damage dealt by the chance-on-hit effect.

• Pyro's medal and medallion now have a range for its fireball effect.

• Pyro's medal and medallion's fireball effect have had their damage increased.

• Shocker's medal and medallion now have a range for its effect.

• Shocker's medal and medallion's chance-on-hit effect has had its damage greatly increased.

• Hood's medal and medallion now lists the damage dealt by its "flames" effect.

• Hood's medal and medallion have had its "flames" effect damage increased.

• Venom's medal and medallion's effect has had its damage increased.

• The Edge of Infinity artifact has had its bonus damage reduced by approximately 30%. Crit chance and bonus damage on crit remain the same.

• Darkhold Scroll and Phoenix Feather artifacts now display cooldown in the tooltip.

Bug Fixes

Crafting Recipes

We fixed an issue where some players received Ultimate Pack exclusive costumes from a rank 20 crafting recipe. These costumes can no longer be crafted. All the exclusive costumes have been replaced with a random, non-exclusive costume with the same affixes. (This applies whether the costume is equipped, in an inventory or in a STASH.)

Bovine Sector:

Players can now only enter the Bovine Sector once per consumable item, and the portal will go away when the player leaves the Bovine Sector. Note: We have also reduced the crafting time to 1 hour, down from 10 hours as described in crafting changes.

UI Fixes

The Max Defense Reduction stat is now properly displayed on the character sheet.

The tooltip for Bonus XP on the Character Sheet stats tab has been corrected.

· Synergies for Channeled Repulsors have been fixed and are working as described.

Item Changes

General Item Changes:

Creatures summoned by artifacts and medals, such as a Moloid Leaper and Sinister Clones, are now summoned at the level of the item instead of at level 1. This will make them much more dangerous, as they should be.

Design Note:
We want creatures summoned by items or powers to be strong and effective. If players want to use a “pet” based strategy, we will keep balancing to ensure it’s viable.

Pets are no longer targeted by bouncing attacks.

Madame Hydra Medal:

· Fixed an issue where the medal would grant invulnerability to nearby orbs as well as players.

Doctor Doom Medal:

· Fixed an issue stopping hero movement when its fear effect activates.

Mole Man Medal:
· Moloid Leapers summoned by the medal now attack enemies more frequently.

I hope we get a new Marvel MMO or Ultimate Alliance at least on next gen consoles.

here's the latest update

Game Update Notes 7/2/2013 – 1.10.0.469

Content Changes

All characters will receive a free respec since we’ve buffed so many powers for so many heroes. Upon switching to a new hero you will need to re-allocate their power points.

Options: A new option has been added to show player & boss overhead health bars. This option defaults to ‘off’. This should make enemies easier to see, especially in Limbo. Enemy bars are always on during PVP.

Hero Changes

Design Note: We are currently reviewing as heroes continually to ensure they have several fun, powerful builds, and this is an ongoing process. Changes could be as small as changing a few numbers or as large as completely redesigning a hero’s power systems. The goal is to buff things that are weak, rather than nerf things that are strong. We collect data from many sources, especially the feedback threads on theHero Discussion forums.

When we tune a hero, it does not mean we are done with the hero, not even close. Every hero will continue to be tweaked, tuned and improved until they are perfect, nothing less.

We believe you should be able to play whatever hero you think is cool and be assured they are fun and powerful. If the current hero you play doesn’t fit that description, rest assured we are working on it.

We are putting through many changes each week, which means there may be bugs that can’t possibly be caught by internal testing. We will address these quickly, but feel free to enjoy anything that is overpowered while we work on it!

General Hero Changes

All powers that increase defenses have been greatly increased, to match the retuning previously done on items to improve their defense performance. This is just one step towards making sure melee characters are fun and appropriately durable. Work continues on the system, with several options on the table. The following powers now provide a much greater defense boost:

· Black Panther: Panther Soul
· Cable: Vigilant Aura
· Captain America: Combat Veteran, Fighting Spirit
· Colossus: Bulwark of Steel, Heroic Challenge, Protective Aura
· Hawkeye: Combat Training
· Hulk: Hulk Tough, Anger resource
· Jean Grey: Bolstering Aura, Reinforcing Aura
· Ms. Marvel: Kree Toughness, Stellar Flare, Binary Overdrive
· Punisher: Pain Tolerance
· Storm: Refreshing Breeze
· Thing: Hard as Rock, Guardian Aura
· Thor: Asgardian Stamina
· Wolverine: Adamantium Skeleton

Flight speed has been increased. The starting percentage increase is now 30%. Flight speed maxes at a 70% movement speed increase at 40 ranks. The speed increase may be toned down in the future, but we are trying it out at 30% for now.

Black Panther

Design Note: Black Panther is scheduled for a full review soon, but we wanted to buff his Ultimate Power ASAP.

Black Panther’s Ultimate Power (Panther God’s Gift)

· Increased radius of resurrection area by 150%.
· Increased radius of buff/debuff area by 25%.
· Replaced heal over time buff with invulnerability buff.
· Added cleanse/free other heroes buff instead of just a tenacity buff.
· Increased duration (scales with ranks) of movement speed and tenacity buffs.
· Cooldown scales down with ranks.

Black Widow

Design Note: Black Widow received a few small buffs this patch but will get a full review in the near future to ensure she has several powerful, fun builds.

Stinging Barrage: Damage slightly increased to be consistent with Cyclops' Optic Barrage. Cost increased per shot from 2 to 3 spirit.

Deadly Shot: Fixed a bug where the power was not correctly receiving bonuses from the Fighting Skills stat.

Black Widow’s Ultimate Power (Twilight Initiative)

· All benefits now scale with rank.
· Added damage bonus.
· Increased buff duration.
· Changed defense penetration to be a percentage.
· Changed defense buff to be a percentage of current defense.

Cable

Design Note: While Cable is strong in many situations, we still want to improve the powers that are not used currently to give him multiple build options. We also want to examine his quality of life issues to ensure he plays smoothly and is fun.

Cable’s Ultimate Power (Bodyslider Bomb)

· Increased summon range and area of power by 100%.
· Added taunt to Future Cable to keep enemies near him.

Plasma Barrage: This was changed to an Energy ability in this patch, but will be changed to both an Energy and Fighting ability for the next patch.

Captain America

Design Note: Captain America changes are under development. Please continue to provide excellent feedback in the Captain America Hero Forum.

Dynamic Charge and Heroic Charge now synergize the same way as Cap’s basic powers.

Captain America’s Ultimate Power (Fighting Spirit)

· Increased radius of power by 25%.
· Increased buff duration.
· Power now restores a percentage of maximum spirit.

Colossus

Design Note: Colossus has a design upgrade planned. We want several options to be powerful so he isn’t a one-hit wonder.

Colossus’ Ultimate Power (Fastball Special)

· Increased Wolverine's duration.

Cyclops

Design Note: Cyclops will receive a design review in the coming weeks. He needs upgrades to ensure he is fun and powerful with multiple builds. He will also obviously lose the ability to single-handedly kill Limbo bosses from 100% to zero with his Ultimate Power. We will be reviewing feedback in the Cyclops Hero Forum, so please take the opportunity to share your thoughts.

Channeled Blast: Increased damage.

Optic Barrage: Evened out damage growth rate per rank.

Cyclops’ Ultimate Power (Maximum Optic Beam)

· Decreased channeling bonus damage.
· Increased base power damage.
· You can now turn Cyclops with the mouse while using this power.
· Can no longer be interrupted by crowd control effects.

Daredevil

Design Note: A full design review of Daredevil started today, with major upgrades slated for a patch next week. All areas of his powers are being reviewed and improved. This patch has a small upgrade to his Ultimate Power, but expect it to be improved significantly in the future.

Daredevil’s Ultimate Power (Elektra Alliance)

· Increased Elektra's resistances.
· Gave Elektra some dodge bonus.

Hulk

Design Note: Hulk has a buff to his Ultimate Power this patch but will receive a full design review in a future patch.

Savage Swing: now displays damage for the next rank.

Vicious Headbutt and Mighty Smash now synergize the same way as his basic powers.

Hulk’s Ultimate Power (Meteor Strike)

· Increased damage dealt by 50%.
· Increased main area of power by 66%.

Iron Man

Design Note: Iron Man has a lot of improvements with this patch but still needs additional work to ensure he has several viable builds.

All basic powers were increased in damage slightly.

Channeled Repulsors: Increased damage. Animations have been sped up.

Death From Above: Damage increased slightly.

Disruptor Beam: Now reduces enemy damage instead of slowing their movement speed.

Energy Shield: Now replenishes spirit while active.

Kinetic Shield: Now replenishes health while active.

Repulsor Barrage: Slightly increased damage.

Reserve Power: Now also buffs defenses.

Shield Overload: Updated Shield Overload tooltip to accurately describe functionality.

Shield Shutdown: Now gives a flat spirit restore (% of max) instead of regeneration, and has a cooldown. Also has a new passive effect - while any shield is up, you gain increased defenses with ranks in Shield Shutdown.

Ms. Marvel

Design Note: Ms. Marvel is due for a large review in the future, but has a few small buffs today.

Photonic Devastation: Increased damage.

Ms. Marvel’s Ultimate Power (Binary Overdrive)

· Added damage shield to Ms. Marvel while power is in effect.

Punisher

Design Note: The Punisher has many improvements this patch and will continue to get improvements until he is extremely fun, has multiple builds and is the ultimate killing machine!

Statistics: Punisher now starts with an Energy statistic of 2 (up from 1, and still hits 3 at level 34)

Basic power synergies all brought in line with the 3% as seen on Rifle Shot.

Chemical Mine: Buffed to deal damage in addition to debuffing enemy stats, but debuff no longer scales in duration.

Cold-Blooded Crusader: Now slows fleeing target's movement, and unlocks at level 10 instead of 20.

Deadly Barrage: Now correctly considered a Fighting Power, and gains bonuses from the Fighting stat. Now considered as an AoE power for the purposes of item and bonus interactions.

Explosive Rocket: Base damage scaling increased.

Flechette Blast: Base damage scaling increased. Synergy now correctly affects bleed, and now reduces enemy defenses.

Impact Shot: Base damage scaling increased, now slows enemies in addition to knocking them back.

Killer Instinct: Unlocks at level 20 instead of 18, bonus damage adjusted to match unlock level.

Mines: All mines now throw and blow up a little faster.

Pain Tolerance: Unlocks at level 18 instead of 10, early defense adjusted to match unlock level.

Proximity Mine: Base damage scaling increased, now deals double damage to feared enemies.

Shotgun: Increased range and damage scaling, now deals double damage to feared enemies.

Show No Mercy: Now triggers off Fear and Stun instead of Knockdown and Stun. Also improved range and detection slightly.

Steel-Toed Kick: Chance to knock down changed to chance to stun.

Sticky Mine: Buffed to deal damage in addition to immobilizing enemies.

Punisher’s Ultimate Power (Grim Retribution)

· Can now be used at any time regardless of health.
· Greatly increased damage and resistance buffs.
· Changed chance to gain fear ability to chance to gain vengeance.

Rocket Raccoon

Design Note: Raccoon is due for a powers review early next month, but until then, we will have a few small improvements here and there.

Energy Barrage: Slightly increased the damage to be consistent with Cyclops' Optic Barrage.

Big Flarkin' Gun: Now correctly considered an Energy power, and gains bonuses from the Energy stat. Damage increased to better match similar powers, due to the smaller area that this power affects.

Tactical Destruction: Fixed a bug where the power was not correctly receiving bonuses from the Energy stat.

Rocket Raccoon’s Ultimate Power

· Added damage over time to the turret's power.

Spider-Man

Design Note: Spider-Man has some upgrades in this patch and has more planned for the next several patches. The goal, as always, is to give him several fun and powerful build options. Please provide feedback on changes in the Spider-Man Hero Forum.

Statistics: Spider-Man now starts with an Energy statistic of 2.

Agile Attack: Greatly increased damage.

Amazing Uppercut: Increased damage.

Ballistic Web Shot: Increased overall damage.

Corrosive Web Fluid: Power is now a toggle power which reduces maximum spirit by 20 when active.

Spider Strike: Increased overall damage.

Sticky Strike: Increased overall damage.

Web 'Em All: Increased damage.

Web Shot: Increased overall damage.

Webswing Assault: Increased damage.

Web-Swinging: Now also grants bonus movement speed when not swinging.

Spider-Man’s Ultimate Power (Amazing Smash)

· Greatly increased damage.
· Now correctly bypasses enemy crowd control resistances.

Thing

Design Note: Thing is due for a full powers improvement review in the near future.

Thing’s Ultimate Power (Pulverizing Fury)

· Added immobilize effect.
· Can no longer be interrupted by crowd control effects.

Thor

Design Note: Thor has many upgrades this patch. There is still more to do, but this is a good first step. The goal is to buff other abilities to compete with Bring the Thunder, so several build options are equally viable in different situations.

Almighty Mjolnir: Increased the damage by roughly 20%. Added tooltips that show the various aspects of the damage the power deals.

Asgardian Smite: Roughly doubled the damage of the power. Slightly sped up the recovery animation to make the power more responsive. Reduced the cost from 36 to 32.

Hammer Punch: Removed the knockback on the power and replaced it with a scaling duration stun, to be more beneficial in melee combat. Reduced the spirit cost from 15 to 14.

Hammer Smash: Sped up the animation to make the power more responsive. Lowered cost slightly. Increased damage slightly.

Hammer Throw: Sped up the animation and hammer travel speed to be more responsive. Increased damage.

Lightning Smash: Added the Fighting Skills keyword to this power to ensure it gains the full damage bonus from Hammer Strike.

Mighty Shockwave: Sped up the animation and shockwave travel time to make the power more responsive. Increased the shockwave width and length by roughly 10% each to hit more targets.

Storm Strike: Added the Fighting Skills keyword to this power to ensure it gains the full damage bonus from Hammer Strike.

Thundering Strike: Increased damage slightly.

Thunderous Charge: Removed Odinforce cost. Now synergizes with Leaping Smite and Asgardian Smite.

Whirling Hammer Defense: Reduced the start-up cost to 6 from 10, and the per-second cost to 3 from 4.

Thor’s Ultimate Power (All Father's Boon)

· Increased the bonus ranks to all powers to +5 at rank 1.
· Increased the aura area to fullscreen, so more friendly players are affected.

Wolverine

Design Note: Wolverine has been training in the Danger Room and has come out much stronger. He will continue to train until he has reached the max level of fun and powerful. We will monitor all changes and improve further as needed; please give us feedback in the Wolverine Hero Forum.

Fury (Secondary Resource) has been revamped. You now gain Fury in two ways: a small amount of Fury with each hit and a large amount of Fury with each critical hit. Fury no longer decays.

We removed mandatory Fury effects from:

· Adrenaline Rush: Increased base duration by 50%.
· Can't Keep Me Down: Always grants the immunity buff.
· Feral Growl: Increased duration/scaling by 100%.
· Regeneration Boost: No Fury required.
· Slashing Leap: Now always applies a bleed effect.

Bloody Victory: Added passive effect when equipped that gives a damage buff when you crit/kill an enemy.

Brutal Slash: Increased animation/attack speed, redesigned:

· Can only be used when you have Fury to spend.
· Uses all available Fury, deals single target damage per pip.

Feral Senses: Now grants a chance to dodge incoming skillshot-based ranged attacks, in addition to the minimap functionality.

Hack and Slash: Now causes additional damage on a critical hit, not on killing a target. Additional damage slightly reduced to compensate. Overall, should be much more powerful.

Healing Factor: Buffed significantly. It now increases by a scaling multiplier based on rank. This effects very little change at low ranks but at rank 20 is a 300% increase. The amount of healing per hit has been greatly increased.

I'm The Best There Is: Increased animation speed, attack speed and damage.

Quick Slash: Increased attack speed by a significant amount.

Regeneration Boost/Cage the Beast: Added 5 second cooldown to both powers to prevent accidentally wasting Fury by hitting it twice. Let us know how this feels to you.

Regeneration Boost: Fury cost reduced to 1.

Slashing Leap: Added base bleed damage on top of the synergy bleed damage.

Rending Sweep: Removed knockdown, reduced spirit cost from 15 to 8, increased damage and area size.

Scattering Rend: now named Eviscerate, and redesigned:

· Can only be used when you have Fury to spend.
· Knocks down instead of knocking back.
· Uses all available Fury pips, deals a high amount of damage per pip.
· Slightly increased area of effect.

Wolverine’s Ultimate Power (Savage Recovery)

· Increased healing done.
· Removed restriction on using it, fixed bug where Fury wasn't being properly filled on power use.

Changes to Enemies and Bosses

Power/Affix Changes

The ‘Ignores Defenses’ affix has been removed entirely as an enemy power. UPDATE: 'Ignore Defenses' has been removed as a boss power, but can still be found on some enemies. It will be completely removed soon.

‘Heals When Dealing Damage’ has been renamed to ‘Lifesteal’ to be more clear. Bosses with the Lifesteal affix now heal 2% of damage dealt, down from 20%. This should make Limbo bosses more reasonable. We will continue to tune this amount until it’s perfect.

‘Damage Shield’ has been renamed ‘Invulnerability Shield’ to be more clear. Enemies with this power occasionally gain immunity to attacks.

Red Terminal bosses can now spawn with a wider-variety of powers. Implosion, Slow Aura, Armored, Energy Resist, and Mental Resist have been added to their power lists.

Mandarin Changes

Projectile speed on Mandarin's Concussive blast reduced by 25%.

Animation wind-up time on Mandarin's Ice Ring power increased by 100%.

Animation wind-up time on Mandarin's Flame Ring power increased by 100%.

Mandarin's Flame Ring power now correctly deals energy damage, which has been reduced by 20%.

Hand Sorcerers and Sun Tribe Shaman will no longer resurrect.

Sentinel experience has been increased by almost 70%.

Doop has been temporarily removed from the game. He is traveling.

Public Combat Zone Changes

Adjusted enemy health in all group zones. Tuning will continue on enemy health, enemy damage and density of spawns until it feels perfect.

Enemy density in the Ruined Projects has been slightly reduced.

Endgame Changes

Enemy experience has been increased in green terminals, red terminals and purple ’spoke‘ Group Challenges. This is a significant buff to experience in these zones. We will continue to adjust these amounts until they are all worthwhile.

Bosses in Limbo now appear physically larger to help with visibility.

Cosmic Keys

We removed Cosmic Key requirements for entering all zones. We want the zones to be accessible to everyone. As a result, we have removed Cosmic Keys from the in-game store for now.

Do not delete your existing Cosmic Keys - they will be very useful in the near future.

Summoned Pet Changes

Design Note: We are continuing to buff the power level of summoned pets. We want pets to stick around and deal damage. This philosophy applies to pets summoned from items or hero powers.

Wundagore Figurine:

· Doubled damage dealt by summoned raptor.
· Multiplied health of summoned raptor by 4.7.
· Increased duration of summoned raptor from 30 seconds to one minute .

Tome of Zhered-Na:

· Doubled damage dealt by summoned lava dog.
· Multiplied health of summoned lava dog by 4.7.
· Increased duration of summoned lava dog from 30 seconds to one minute.
· Increased summoned lava dog's attack speed .

Latverian Regalia:

· Doubled damage dealt by summoned doomdrone.
· Multiplied health of summoned doomdrone by 6.
· Increased summoned doomdrone duration from 30 seconds to one minute.
· Increased summoned doomdrone's attack speed.

A.I.M. Robot Dispenser:

· Multiplied death machine damage by 1.2.
· Multiplied summoned death machines health by 1.9.
· Increased death machine lifespan from 30 seconds to one minute.
· Increased attack speed of AIM death machines.
· Reduced cooldown from 30 seconds to 20 seconds.

Raptor Stone:

· Multiplied health of summon by 4.8.
· Increased lifespan from 120 seconds to 180 seconds

Bloodstone Raptor:

· Multiplied damage of summoned raptor by 1.2.
· Multiplied health of raptor summon by 5.
· Increased attack speed of summoned raptor.
· Increased lifespan of summoned raptor from 20 seconds to one minute.

Mask of Doom:

· Doubled damage of summoned doombots.
· Multiplied health of summoned doombots by 5.6.
· Increased attack speed of summoned doombots.
· Increased lifespan of doombot from 20 seconds to one minute.
· Reduced cooldown from 90 seconds to 1 minute.

Mister Sinister's medal/medallion:

· Multiplied damage dealt by clones by 2.3
· Multiplied health of all clones by 4.8
· Increased lifespan of each clone from 15 seconds to one minute

Moleman's medal/medallion:

· Multiplied damage of mole by 2.3
· Multiplied health of mole by 1.8
· Increased lifespan of mole from 30 seconds to one minute

Item Changes

Design Note: We are working on new types of items to add to the game in the next few weeks and months. We are pretty excited internally about some of the stuff. Our goal with items is to give you many options to customize your character in fun and interesting ways. We also consider hero powers very closely when we work on new items.

For this patch, the changes that were ready included many buffs to artifacts and pet-based items. We will continue to iterate on these until they are all appropriately powerful and fun.

Atlantean Jewel: Doubled defense.

Blinding Brazier of Balthakk: Overall, increased damage, by making burn damage scale on a curve instead of give the wearer a flat number bonus.

Bloodstone Eagle: Increased damage affix on Bloodstone Eagle by 50%.

Bloodstone Eel: Quadrupled damage dealt by energy damage proc.

Bloodstone Jaguar: Increased damage bonus affix by 50%.

Bloodstone Lion: Reduced cooldown from one minute to 20 seconds and increased health bonus by 20%.

Bloodstone Mammoth: Tripled defense and added a tenacity affix.

Bloodstone Panther: Increased maximum attack speed bonus, increased health bonus by 50%, and reduced cooldown from 30 seconds to 20 seconds.

Chthonic Idol: Damage increased. Listed damage dealt by fire and poison procs in tooltip.

Circlet of Cyttorak: Increased amount of spirit gained through any orb on Circlet of Cyttorak

Crimson Crystal of Cyttorak: Can now be used in the crafting recipe to put a visual on your costume.

Elektra’s medallion and medal: Now grant a movement speed increase.

Extremis Serum: Quadrupled bonus damage rewarded when below 30% health.

Fantastic Force Field: Buffed physical and energy defense.

Flames of the Faltine: Doubled damage.

Green Goblin medals and medallion: Increased damage.

Hellfang of Zarathos: Increased damage dealt by fire proc by a factor of 7.

Hood’s medallion: Now burns mobs near you if you drop below 40% health.

Idol of Khonshu Doubled bonus damage.

Ivory Idol of Ikonn: Reduced cooldown from 30 seconds to 20 seconds and made the invisibility last the full 5 seconds regardless of attacks.

Ka-Zar's Pendant: Added a movement speed affix.

Lady Deathstrike’s medallion and medals: Now grant a movement speed increase.

Mark of the Odinborn: Reduced cooldown on Mark of the Odinborn from 30 seconds to 20 seconds and buffed the spirit bonus affix. Now gives you additional spirit when you pick up an orb.

Mask of Doom: Tripled defense affix and changed it from physical to energy.

Metasensory Array: Changed the attack speed on Metasensory Array from a negative proc to positive 1-5%.

Oculus Oroboros: Tripled physical defense on Oculus Oroboros;

Phoenix Feather: Added VFX so that players can tell when they have been revived. Increased the amount of health you are revived with from 5% to full.

Reactive Repulsor: Multiplied damage dealt by fire PBAOE by 12.

Repulsor Field: Increased defense on Repulsor Field by 50%

Ringed Ruby of Raggadorr: Reduced cooldown for invulnerability affix from 60 seconds to 20 seconds.

Scrolls of Watoomb: Listed damage dealt correctly in tooltip. Multiplied damage dealt by proc by 7.

Shi'ar Cloaking Device: Minor buff to backstab damage bonus.

Skrull Targeting Computer: Minor buff to backstab damage bonus. Please note, the damage calculation on this item was changed to a curve with a coefficient, which is correct from a design perspective but resulted in an unintentional damage reduction. This will be fixed soon.

Super-Soldier Serum: Increased health regen by 85%.

Talisman of Hoggoth: Increased health regen by 250%.

Tome of Oshtur: Tripled health regeneration and reduced its cooldown from 30 seconds to 20 seconds.

Tome of Zhered-Na: Listed damage dealt correctly in tooltip. Multiplied damage dealt by proc by 18.

Bug Fixes

Fixed an issue where destructible items (cars, trash bags) would constantly respawn, which caused significant performance issues.

Fixed an issue where Doctor Doom could leave dormancy and would not correctly remove the visibility state.

Fixed a bug where Doom portal would not appear in Tier 2 red terminal.

Fixed possible chance of getting locked in place when leaving Doom's boss room during his death animation.

Fixes to tooltips throughout the game.

Stealth powers (such as Black Panther's Stealthy Escape) will no longer prevent orbs from being picked up. This will make a big impact for certain heroes.

The Hood should no longer teleport into unreachable areas.

Cast Speed reduction is now capped at 50%.

Black Panther: Ultimate Power now includes a buff and debuff durations

Cable: Vortex Grenade: Fixed a bug that caused the slow to fall off while the enemy was still in the vortex. Updated tooltip to correctly show that the power does not deal variable damage.

Captain America: Leaping Strike now stops at the first target he hits.

Colossus: Steel Splash: fixed a bug that prevented the power from pathing or some obstacles.

Hawkeye: Freeze Arrow: now correctly visually freezes Mutates.

Hulk: Anger resource: Fixed a bug that prevented Hulk from gaining defense based on number of pips.

Hulk: Fixed Earthquake Leap bug where Anger cost was doubled and prevented Destructive Mayhem from activating.

Iron Man: Reflective Shield: corrected a bug that prevented the power from correctly reflecting damage.

Jean Grey: Reduced Jean Grey fear duration which was unintentionally long, resulting in boss fights where a boss never had a chance to attack. There may still be issues with fears not properly being mitigated by boss resists as intended. This may also apply to crowd control powers which affect AI behavior and aren’t technically classified as “debuffs”.

Rocket Raccoon: Forceful Shot can now be slotted on right mouse button. (We are working on making almost everything slottable almost everywhere.)

Spider-Man: Amazing Smash: fixed a bug that prevented the dodge bonus from maxing out.

Spider-Man: There is no longer a checkered material when webbing up the Mutates with Spider-Man’s Stick Around power.

Spider-Man: Web 'Em All: increased damage per tick, but power now correctly only deals damage to enemies inside the web line.

Thor: All-Father's Boon: Now halts movement during initial cast and can be slotted on the right mouse button.

Thor: Powers that optionally spend Odinforce should now call those costs out in power tooltips.Last edited by Rockjaw; Yesterday at 07:00 PM.

The problem with F2P is dishonest product marking, says David Paris

Game developer David Paris has penned a new blog at Gamasutra focused on the stigma of free-to-play business models. Paris, whose bio lists him as the builder of the world's first subscription-based internet MOG (Valhalla), says that there's nothing inherently wrong with F2P that more honest product marking won't fix.
And thus we come to the core of the problem - the lack of honesty about how much impact IAPs [in-app purchases] have on games. The truth is that F2P monetization is frequently very much about concealing exactly this impact from its players so that we will either play until we are so invested that we will cough up and pay, or so that we'll provide an audience for the whales to lord it over. Burying pay-to-win mechanics under an initial layer of skill-to-win, providing advantages that become required for competitive play, roadblocks or surprisingly reduced game functionality tucked underneath paid barriers that weren't obvious when you started.
He cites League of Legends and Marvel Heroes as games that do it right and wrong, respectively, though he does criticize LoL for failing to offer an all-the-content-for-a-single-price option.

Marvel Heroes makes it easier to earn new superheroes

While it's always been possible to gain new superheroes in Marvel Heroes via loot drops, Gazillion CEO David Brevik says that the current system is less than ideal. "The best loot should be challenging to acquire," he writes, "but we don't want players to be overly frustrated with the process of acquiring heroes."

To address this, Gazillion is preparing to scrap the current hero token drops and institute Eternity Splinters instead. Splinters are a new type of currency that will drop from mobs more frequently than hero tokens did and can be saved up to purchase the hero of the player's choice. They'll also be used to purchase ultimate power upgrades and hero respecs.

Brevik says that the team is committed to adding new heroes to the game so that players will always have something new to earn. He also posted a FAQ regarding the upcoming system for those who have specific questions.

Thank the lord! That's what is bringing me back to the game. I just hope "more frequently" doesn't change "never" to "mostly never"

Marvel Heroes posted a couple of updates to its official website yesterday. The first is penned by Doomsaw, an MH designer who has a quite a lot to say in terms of what the dev team is currently doing. The game's defense system is being worked on, as are difficulty modes, PvP, itemization, raids, and more.

The second update concerns permanent price reductions on both heroes and costumes in Marvel Heroes' item shop. Affected characters include Wolverine, Spider-man, Storm, Hulk, Iron Man, and Deadpool. Get the full list, as well as the full development update blog, via the links below.

Gazillion trumpets 1.5 million registered Marvel Heroes users

I have a confession to make. I once registered as a Marvel Heroes user. This was before I confirmed my initial suspicion that the game wasn't my cup of tea, and it was motivated in large part by the fact that I cover many games that aren't my cup of tea for a living.

My reason for telling you that I'm a registered Marvel Heroes user is because Gazillion is also telling you something about registered users in its latest press release. Specifically, the company is crowing about the fact that its game has 1.5 million of them. What it's not saying is how many of those users, like me, have never spent and will never spend a) any money on the product and b) any time playing it.

But, hey, 1.5 million is a big number!

Gazillion also announced that the game's new Asgard zone will release this Fall. Finally, a series of planned summer updates will include PvP and endgame additions, a new tier of "ultimate" items, and a new currency.

and yet another new trailer

Zenith, I know that you have been following this game since the closed beta, personally I dropped it because of the excesive grinding, really bad balance and "inmoral" currency system.

Any positive change in this game?

The positive are they put serious buffs on all the characters they added a test center for us to test the up coming new characters like Emma and Nova ETc. They also put in a new to purchase the characters you to play as in game by erning them via the new eternity shards system.

They added some new pvp stuff but that's still being tested out and they finally put out human torch two days ago as I put up last night how ever last night patch screwed up and they had to resend it. I'm waiting for further details the up coming stuff is when they start on Emma, any further details on Asgard and how soon the mac version will happen ether in November December or Q1 next year latest.

most of the stuff are detailed here.

Marvel Heroes Previews: A Superheroic Summer

The Marvel Heroes team has been very candid about its rocky start and is hot on the trail of making the game improvements that need to be made. We recently had the opportunity for a round table discussion with Dave Brevik and the crew. Find out what's been done and what's coming next for super heroes the world 'round. Head to the comments to chat!

on August 08, 2013

Marvel Heroes launched to a rocky start, but after numerous patches, including the recently deployed Game Update 1.1, things are starting to look up. We joined the Gazillion crew, including CEO David Brevik, for a roundtable discussion on what the team has done to address issues since launch, how they’ve updated the game with new content and characters, and what awesome new goodies players can expect over the next few weeks.
Flame On!
The first topic on the agenda was the recent addition of Johnny ‘Human Torch’ Storm to the Marvel Heroes roster. Originally slated as a launch character, Torch didn’t end up making the cut, but as of last Friday’s deployment of Game Update 1.1, players have been flying around blowing stuff up with everyone’s Fantastic hothead.
the new thing besides Asgard
Relics: Describe to us as similar to Borderlands 2’s Badass Ranks, Relics are a new stackable item that can be used to pump up a certain character stat. For example, you may find a Relic of Pain that increases your critical chance. Stacking additional Relics of Pain will increase your critical chance (with diminishing returns).

Uniques: Uniques are, well, unique items designed for specific characters. Gazillion didn’t want to spoil too many of these, but they just couldn’t contain their excitement. A couple of examples include Captain America’s Uru enhanced shield, Ms. Marvel’s flightsuit, Wolverine’s bone claws (massive crit chance, but hurt you as you use them), and probably the most amusing example we were given: the Deadpool Daddy Device. The item will grant Deadpool additional move speed (daddies need to run around a lot), spirit and health regeneration, and a 1/20 scale baby Deadpool that fights alongside you.
Aside from the press coverage you’re seeing today, Gazillion has no plans to announce the new Unique items coming to the game. These won’t even be mentioned in patch notes. The intention is to have players be surprised to find these awesome new items, but who are they kidding? It’s 2013, baby. You’re about to post this on Reddit or on the Marvel Heroes forums right now.
X-Mansion Attack: Inspired by Star Trek’s unwinnable “Kobayashi Maru” scenario, the X-Mansion Attack features never ending waves of enemies, supervillains, and even super sentinels attacking it and the goal is to survive for as long as possible. Each wave will get increasingly tougher and more powerful with rewards commensurate for the increased difficulty. More experience, more and better quality gear, and even Uniques can be earned via this new mode.
Aside from the aforementioned competitive PvP mode, all of the above will hit live servers this month. The new PvP mode will arrive on the Marvel Heroes test server within about a week-and-a-half, but Gazillion won’t be releasing it to live servers until confident in its level of polish.
