Mass Effect 2

I never really bothered to try and command them. I just let them do whatever they want and shoot stuff until everything that needs to be dead is.

I've found when I try to tell them where to go and what to do they die quicker, I let them take their own cover and just tell them to use powers when necessary and that generally works out pretty well.

Yeah, I've NEVER issued commands to my squad. Never wanted to. I figure they'd be smart enough in a firefight to handle themselves... and they are.

I issue commands all the time. Even if it has no real effect, it makes me feel like I'm being all tactical and whatnot.

I still haven't gotten used to issuing commands to my squad mates, because the command input has apparently changed. Now I'm a bit confused by it.

except the problem is they dont take cover and they end up being the ones that are dead

Wha? My team always takes cover... Seriously. They'll duck, ect. If I have to complain about any of them I'd complain about Miranda. She's kind of a run and gunner... Garrus/Grunt always duck and cover.

funny bc Miranda is the one that tends to die the most. She ignores everything I say. The snipers (Garrus and Zaeed) take cover, but Im having trouble with the rest

I guess it's Miranda's "ice queen" personality that makes her ignore everything Shep says.

My squad takes cover if I stay still, but they change position a lot when I move and get shot while they're running around like chickens with their heads cut off.

Krogans are the best to play with because they do all the cool things whether you tell them to or not. I just unlocked Grunt and used him on the Horizon mission where the Collectors attacked. I didn't even need to fight the husks because he'd just bullrush and destroy them like it was nothing. I'm having as much fun with him as I did with Wrex on part 1.

I feel like Miranda openned up to my Shepard though, at least to my female Shepard. I made her be on my squad almost every time I went on a mission. I did the same thing with Jacob the last time I played.

just beat the game. I made sure that i played every available mission before doing the final one. Even still, I lost two people. Samara and Mordin. How do you go through the mission without any causalities?

You have to fully upgrade the Normandy, do all the loyalty missions, and choose the right people to send on the missions on the end run.
Tali or Legion are usually the best for the tubes, Garrus has never let me down as the second team leader. For the biotic bubble, choose Jack or Samara. Miranda is a good biotic, but every time I've used her I loose someone. To help the people get back to the ship, use Mordin or have him on your team. He's the first die in the hold the line part, when Shepard goes up against the Human Reaper.

yeah, i had Mordin go in the tubes, and Miranda handle the biotic bubble. thats when i lost people.

Did you have Samara on your team in the bubble?! If so, that's the exact same person I lost when I had Miranda do the bubble.

Then you're probably sending them at places that aren't deep enough to register as cover. There's a lot of that.

I'd recommend practicing with it. Direct your squadmates where there aren't any enemies and get a feel for how long it takes them to register the command, move, and then bunker down. Once you get a feel for it, you should be fine once there are actual enemies around.

The cover system might be a tad touchy, but it works perfectly fine when you know what to look for. And it makes the game even more of a breeze once you can set up triangulation fire.

Right. Mordin is not a tech specialist, and Miranda is not a strong biotic. As she tells Shepard on the Normandy during one of the early dialogue options - her biotics are "strong, for a human."

The breakdown is this:

Tubes - Tech specialist
Second Squad Leader - A capable leader
Biotic Bubble - Biotic specialist
Crew Escort - Any loyal squadmember
Hold the Line - Defensive specialists

I have everyone Loyal, besides Jack. How do I keep her alive during the Suicide Mission? Do I put her on HTL with a strong group (ie. Garrus, Thane, Grunt)?

So... This is probably a stupid question, but maybe one of you that have this on the PS3 can answer it for me. Does Lair of the Shadow Broker activate once you visit Liara? Because it's not on the extra section under DLC... so I assume?

If so, hopefully after end game.

Yes I believe it activates when you talk to Liara.

The PS3 version of Mass Effect 2 has been patched, and in the process, has revealed details on an upcoming DLC pack called "Arrival." Featuring three new Trophies, the BioWare forums have been abuzz with theories on what the expansion will entail.

One of the Trophies, "Covert Action," refers to a Dr. Amanda Kenson, who was previously mentioned in a recent Cerberus Network update:
Historians and astronomers alike are abuzz tonight over a new paper published by Dr. Amanda Kenson of the University of Arcturus ... "Only a small fraction of the mass effect relays date back 50,000 years," she writes, "The majority are far older, indicating they were created by a species predating even the Protheans." ... What civilization could have spanned the galaxy for not thousands, but millions of years? If this were the case, we should have found mountains of evidence of their passing. Where is this species now?"
Some believe that "Arrival" can refer to the arrival of the Reapers, setting up events for the upcoming Mass Effect 3. Others, however, are more fixated on figuring out how to acquire one of the more ominous Trophies for the DLC: "The Ultimate Sacrifice." Wasn't dying once sacrifice enough?

I haven't been able to put this game down. Keep in mind that I played and beat it on the 360 twice, minus Overlord and Lair of the Shadow Broker.

....ME2 is so, sooo good. It also probably helps that I haven't played it for months.
