To the both of you's!

Comics are far from dead. Shops are opening up all over the place in my city. They don't sell like crazy like they used to, but the films have sparked an interest in these stories in the public.

what I said amont's to the same thing speed ball. that movie crowd the comes into the shops don't last though. Their fickle . lol oh well. fry fit's. ok we've deviated too far from ME3.

I think you both misunderstood me. Comics are like cassette tapes, VHS, hell DVD now. I LOVE comics, and buy as many old-time ones I can find. But they really just are not that relevant any more.

It's just my opinion. Comics, to most people, are like collecting baseball cards now.

no your wrong cory their more like vinyl records that used other formats now with any one young like dj's in clubs, but never went dead unlike that of cassette tapes,(didn't know peeps your age still remember that. it's public media view not me that pushing that . ) VHS(I don't think that's completely gone yet) DVD's. the latter of this though, well it's more like dvd's have slowly faded away.

What is the most popular comic book? How much does it sell every month? There's your answer as to how relevant comics are.

How do you know my age, exactly?

Not sure if you agree or disagree.

I don't think I said I did. but i'd wager your between some where at least between 85 -some where 90's to early to mid 2000's. precisely not saying.

I didn't mean 'dead' as non-existent. 'Dead' as in 90% of the world doesn't give a crap.

Discussing NES games in another thread, thats about how comics are now. People who like the old school stuff. Which isn't common these days.

Comics are very much forgotten in this day and age.

only in places that didn't have them to begin with where religion is mostly the only thing that matters in such places. but no not in places where people are aware of thing's movies and tv and pop-calture in gen, no it's not dead. it's not the most overly accessible thing where you turn a corner and it's there, but it's not dead.

Well, I guess Montreal is different.

I honestly don't think you even believe in what you are saying.

I don't know who you hang out with or which ones you read, but comics are pretty relevant to all the people I know. People that don't even read the source material still know the history of characters.

Comparing a format that still exists and has existed a lot longer than the formats you mentioned is pointless. Print media will never die, newspapers may die out, but books and comics will never die. Digital media makes up a lot of comic book sales now, so it may have changed formats on how it is distributed, but they are always going to be made, even if there is a dramatic shift and these companies go all digital, they are still going to be made.

And you're right, 90% of the world doesn't give a ****, but that ten percent or how much it really is does care, and they're not going to let it die.:cmad:

And why the eff are we even talking about comics in here?

This is the Mass Effect thread, stay on topic here and please take you debate over the death of print media somewhere else, because this::bdh: is going to continue on and on before Matt comes in and bans everyone in here.

So I've finished my ME1 casting call.

Going in, you guys should know that as a rule, I tried to be realistic. So I only used real actors. I say this so I do not get ten responses of "Brandon Keener for Garrus!" For a studio to invest 200 million dollars in a big budget sci-fi epic based on a little known property, they would want at least some what marketable actors to promote the movie. Plus directors want real actors to do their voice work, it seems, so they can use them for mocap purposes as well and actually capture the actor's traits, methods, movement, etc. So I only used the voice actors if they were credible actors, and even then, I recast a couple (like Anderson) because I think they can do better.

So without further delay, I give you Matt's Mass Effect casting call:

Commander Shepard - Jeffrey Donovan

Ashley Williams - Rashida Jones

Kaidan Alenko - Alex O'Loughlin

Garrus Vakarian - Keifer Sutherland

Liara T'Soni - Liv Tyler

Urdnot Wrex - John Goodman

Tali'Zorah Nar Rayya - Summer Glau

Jeff "Joker," Moreau - Seth Green

Continued in next post....

Saren Arterius - Matthew Fox

Matriarch Benezia T'Soni - Michelle Pfeiffer

Captain David Anderson - Tony Todd

Ambassador Donnel Udina - Tony Shalhoub

Admiral Steven Hackett - Lance Henriksen

Dr. Karen Chakwas - Helen Mirren

So yeah, that is my ME1 cast. I will do ME2 and ME3 later. I am particularly proud of Liara. At first I was drawing a blank. Then I thought that she and Liv Tyler have very similar personalities and voices. But then when I thought about it, they also look quite a bit alike. Similar jaw lines, similar mouths, same color eyes, both even have prominent freckles. So yeah, I am very pleased with that one.

Calm down.

and Matt, great choices... I was thinking Liv for Liara as well... eyes are too perfect. I don't know about Tony Shaloub though.

Thanks. And trust me, don't type cast Shalhoub as Monk. He can play a ruthless, cowardly prick with the best of them. Plus he has that Mediterranean look that Udina needs.

Yea, you are right.. every time I think of him I think of the dude from MIB, the taxi driver from Wings, and of course Monk.

Thanks. Also, I realized that I left off Chakwas, so I added her in.

AWESOME Chakwas... but I must complain...I always felt like she was trying to cougar me... and Hellen Mirren is too old! :hehe:

I actually think Chakwas was more into Joker. :hehe:

She may have liked Joker, but she got me drunk! and Shep was blacked out in her medbay in ME1... hmm... that explains the tenderness...

Calm down.

Dude, please don't tell me to calm down, it only has the opposite effect.

And good choices, Matt. I never thought of Liv as a Liara, but I can see it. They're both very soft spoken. And Mirren as Chakwas. :awesome:
