Oh crud, I missed some epic arguing. :(

Tron Bonne, Soapy, I salute you.

You would....

Now that the dust has settled, I think we can will all agree that the film should be centered around the varied and exciting exploits of Zaeed Massani.

The title? "BIG GODDAMN HEROES"

I would only accept a Shepard-centered movie if, in a twist ending, it was all just Conrad Verner dreaming. :woot:

IF they do a movie based on the games, I hope Kaidan gets chosen to die.

They do a bit too much speculation for my taste considering the article is supposed to be informative, I especially don't believe the Illusive Man is indoctrinated and ultimately outside of Kai Leng and Maybe Kahlee showing up I don't think the novels/comics will factor all that heavily into the games.

Going back to this... Honestly what threw this entire thing "off" for me was the very first "thing". He writes that Kahlee being a strong woman in the novels is a good case for "female Shepard" I assume being the "canon Shepard."

That to me just sounded like a guy who has a FemShep and really wants to prove that his Shep is "canon."

I really don't see how you got that from what he said. Seems you just have this really strange, almost vehement hate for FemShep that you take everything about it in the wrong way.

Be seeing you.

He says that a strong woman, and strong women in the ME universe is a good case for Shep being a female. To me, that sounds like any argument some FemShep user would use for his reason behind being a FemShep.

Oh, well, yeah, he is kind of saying that, but in your first post about it you may it seem like he was arguing about FemShep somehow being canon. I think he was just arguing against people who would argue that a woman wouldn't be fit for the role or something in arguing for their WangSheps.

Just, I don't know, you seem to have this disdain for anything that could be related to FemShep. Anytime it comes up, you try to find all kinds of ways to dismiss it or argue against or just rail against it for some reason.

Eh, I don't think I'm any worse then FemShep users that rail against DudeShep because he's some "pretty boy model" or whatever else.

You probably aren't, but I really don't see many of those in comparison. And it's not really good paint either way. Though I doubt anyone would really be railing against WangShep because of being a 'pretty boy model', nothing all that pretty there.

I've actually seen that said a LOT whenever there's a big ol gender Shep war.

Well, I brought that up from a custom Shep discussion where some said they didn't want to use "default pretty boy model Shep."

I'll be honest, and it may sound "sexist" although, I don't intend it to be. If given a choice to role a female or a male I chose male because for me, it's easier to relate to with choices and whatnot.

Sure, they may be goofy choices like "who should Shep be with, Liara or Ashley?" but I can still relate to that better than I could rolling a female character. Not just in Mass Effect, but Dragon Age as well.

Now, in games like Resident Evil 3, Code Veronica, Tomb Raider, ect... it doesn't matter because there's no real choices in them.

If I'm going to invest time into a character building them from the ground up (outside of looks... because I have an OCD "it has to match the box art" issue, lol) it's going to have to be as relatable to me as possible. So.. and again, this may be an "old way of thinking" but when I see guys rolling a female Shep it just comes off as weird to me. ...Maybe not weird... Maybe I just don't understand? I dunno. Although, they often explain it to me this way.. "I want to see HLA between FemShep and Liara!"

Not saying all FemShep users do that... but that's the excuse I most often read.

To be fair though the Bioware forum posters are not representative of reality. I have rarely seen such a pit of utter negativity and contempt for their own franchise, the people behind it and their fellow fans outside of a Star Trek board.

I honestly don't care what people use as their Shep, and I guess maybe I get to defensive of "my" Shep?

I don't know. I seriously don't intend to come off as harsh/condescending/angry/whatever else as I apparently am.

This is truth. I don't even visit the bioware forums anymore. You will never find a more retched hive of scum and villainy.

It's understandable that you personally prefer WangShep and all. That wasn't really anything I was talking almost, but you almost seem to come off like you're against the very concept of FemShep or something, which just seems kind of weird. Like you have this idea that having a WangShep is the 'right' choice, though there really isn't a right, or canon, choice in the matter.

And yeah, it does kind of come off as very 'old way of thinking' to look at it that way. Granted, if that's the kind of reasoning you're seeing, maybe it's not too much a jump to think so, but eh, it is kind of a closed minded sentiment. I mean, really, no one can relate to Shepard regardless of what gender they are. Because no one is a space commander in the distance future who is going off fighting universe killing threats. Everything else is just assigned by the player, so any relation will come from that. But, I guess, I do get that at least to some degree. We haven't totally grown out of that pesky gender stuff, yet.

Because no one is a space commander in the distance future who is going off fighting universe killing threats.

Well.... Actually...

Also, I feel that I can "relate" to Shepard... Maybe that was the wrong word to use but I put my own moral choices into the character. When people were cheating on Liara with Miranda and whatnot... I wasn't. I had no idea if she'd ever come into ME2 like she did, but still... there was no indication that their relationship was over. I'm a fair person in real life but stern when I have to be so I use that for my choices.

Is it "closed minded"? Maybe... but in the end it's just a game, lol.
