Mass Effect 3 - Part 2

What I find interesting is they said this we'll see a sneak peak of the movie, or something to that effect, which I thought was strange wording, since we know nothing about this movie, I don't see what they could possibly 'show' as far as footage goes.

I think the panel will just be a look at the writing process for the movie. Something would have leaked by now otherwise. Maybe they'll flash some concept art but I don't think we'll see anything of substance.

I wonder if there's any way possible that they could have a cast ready without us finding out yet?

Who wants to bet that if we get a game based movie that Michael Clark Duncan voices Wrex?

:p

I guess it's possible, but Hollywood isn't nearly as secretive as the game industry. In fact casting is usually something they use to promote the film, so I kind of doubt it.

It would be cool though!

Any self-respecting writer would want to come up with their own story.

Tell that to every single fanboy who ever strode the internet and *****ed about even minor non-storyline changes to a comic book franchise. If there is anything I've learned it's that nerds want their beloved properties translated as closely as possible to the source. Except for this one, it seems.

Don't put everyone in the same category. This fanboy is very much pro-people doing something new with established properties.

Since I brought up the whole cast thing... IF they were making a film based off the first game and they used Male Shep the following would be what I'd like to see. I adapt easily to casting choices though... So...

Commander John Shepard... and I don't want to seem like everyone else that has said this just because he's played Batman... But I feel Christian Bale would be the best choice..

Joker: Seth Green... Has to be Seth Green. Even if nothing else is even close to my cast IF they make a film based on the game it HAS to be him.

Garrus: Edward Norton with voice mods

Saren: Christoph Waltz with voice mods

Liara: Olivia Wilde... With SFX makeup, obviously.

Wrex: Ron Perlman with voice mods.

Kaiden: Eric Bana

Ashley: Erica Cera

Tali: Emmanuelle Chriqui with voice mods

Dr. Chakwas: Hellen Mirren.

Captain Anderson: Keith David (Duh) OR Morgan Freeman.

Ambassador Udina: John Noble

Mass Effect 2 characters:

Zaeed Massani: Gerard Butler

Jack: Natalie Portman

Mordin Solus: Neal Patrick Harris

Grunt: Vin Diesel

Miranda Lawson: If they don't get Yvonne Strahovski then Emily Blunt

Thane Krios: Javier Barden

Samara: Michelle Pfeiffer in SFX Makeup

Jacob Taylor: Tyrese Gibson or Michael Jai White

The Illusive Man: If no Martin Sheen then Bruce Greenwood.

I'd also be completely fine if the characters from the game (Wrex, Tali, Garrus, Grunt and Mordin) were voiced by the same people that voiced them in game. Although, I know that would probably never happen. I'd also love if the aliens weren't CGI (more so Tali) and just really good costumes with the voice actors I mentioned.

I can't think of actors for some characters, but here's what I've got:

Alexander Skarsgard as Shepard (doesn't really look like the default Shepard, but I think he's a really great actor that could be a multifaceted Shep, he's got range IMO, plus I can definitely see him as a leader)

Ashley: Olivia Wilde

Kaiden: Don't really know for sure, maybe Alan Tudyk

Garrus: Aaron Eckhart, or maybe Zackary Quinto

Wrex: Can't think of anyone, the guy who voiced him was so awesome

Liara: Rachel Weisz

Anderson: Keith David

Joker: Seth Green, has to be him

Saren: Michael Ironside

Benezia: Michelle Pfeiffer

ME2:

Miranda: Yvonne Strahovski

Jacob: Chiwetel Ejiofor

Mordin: Doug Jones perhaps?

Grunt: Kevin Durand

Thane: Stephen Moyer

Illusive Man: Martin Sheen

Yeah, movies aren't interactive and personal. That's why I don't want to see a version of Shepard in it, doing stuff in a universe that contradicts what I do in that universe. lmao I can't believe I'm the only person who feels this way (edit: scratch that, Soapy, Tron Bonne and I are bros), maybe I'm just more invested in the experience of Shepard being ME? I can watch other people play no problem, I've even played through multiple times, but when you've got other media creating a canon version of a character each individual is supposed to create then... well, lol I guess you're right, f**k the fans, it's all about reaching a broader audience.
Not all fans have the same viewpoint as you and it doesn't make their opinion any less valid. Movies ARE about making money and the way to do that is reaching a broader audience instead of limiting themselves. I dont see having a Shepard in there as that big a deal. Just look at this as an alternate universe featuring an alternate Shepard. It shouldnt have any bearing on how you or anyone else views the games from here on out

I'm sure if the movie is based on the games, characters like the Korgans & Garrus will be CGI. I'd hope for their original actors to return if that's the case, it'd be a smart move since the production could save some money that way.

That Skyrim/ME3 mash-up is le epic.

My Mass Effect 3 cast:

Commander Shepard - Jeffery Donovan

Ashley Williams – Mila Kunis

Garrus Vakarian – Keifer Sutherland – Not an exact match with the voice, but his personality fits the role well.

Kaiden Alenko – Alex O’Loughlin

Wrex – John Goodman – It would be a CGI role, but he can do the gruff, hardened, experienced voice that Wrex needs.

Liara – Morena Baccarin

Tali – Basically any actress who can do the voice could do this role. It needs to be a mix of an Indian and English accent. Maybe Freida Pinto?

Joker – Seth Greene

Saren Arterius – Matthew Fox (Hugo Weaving is too cliché)

Matriarch Benezia – Susan Sarandon

Captain Anderson – Dennis Haysbert or Tony Todd

Ambassador Udina – Tony Shalhoub

Admiral Hackett – Lance Henriksen

Miranda Lawson – Yvonne Strahovski

Jacob Taylor – Anthony Mackie

The Illusive Man – Martin Sheen – Duh.

Kelly Chambers – Alyson Hannigan

Mordin Solus – Neil Patrick Harris – I know its unconventional, but it would be a CGI role and I think he could pull the voice off.

Jack – Selma Blair

Grunt – Ron Pearlman

Thane Krios – Eric Bana

Samara – Famke Jassen

Zaeed Massani – Jeffery Dean Morgan

Kasumi Goto – China Chow

Going by some tweets at the moment:

As of right now it sounds like the Soldier can carry 4-5 guns

The Vanguard and Infiltrator can hold 3 guns

Adept/Engineer/Sentinel can carry 2 guns

That's not including an extra slot for Heavy Weapons.

Also another gameplay trailer looks to be in the works.

Oh dude, great call with Skarsgard for Shepard. That would be great.

Also, whilst it might be true that any 'decent writer' could come up with a new story, at the same time, a decent writer could also adapt the games story into something great too. A writer shouldn't do something different for the sake of it, any and every story concept should be on the table from the outset.

I don't know if you guys saw Prince of Persia, but all the bits that sucked about that story were the parts that DID deviate from the Sands of Time. The problem with video game adaptations so far is that they ignore the great stories that have already been done, but instead just crowbar in characters or concepts from the games because they think that's what gamers want to see, which is why Prince of Persia was lik 80 percent free running, slow mo and Assassins Creed type eagle views.

I think the best way to do it, and again, this is my very dangerous controversial opinion, is to approach it like they do with the Marvel comic films, where they keep large chunks of the established origins intact, like who the main character is, how they function and their role in the universe, then establish the same universe with it's many rules and systems (i.e. spectres, council, alliance, other races, etc) and give the main character/s a threat or obstacle of equal importance and scope as the game (but still fits into the game universe) and then everything else should be adapted appropriately. No 30 minutes dedicated to the crew crashing on Tachunka JUST so they can introduce Wrex, no cheeky references to the gameplay, like a joke about branching dialogue or something. Sci-fi done well is when there is a grand sense of scope but it's all still relatively contained, like Firefly or something.

"10 Things Mass Effect Fans Must Know From Novels and Comics"

They do a bit too much speculation for my taste considering the article is supposed to be informative, I especially don't believe the Illusive Man is indoctrinated and ultimately outside of Kai Leng and Maybe Kahlee showing up I don't think the novels/comics will factor all that heavily into the games.

Didn't BioWare confirm that Cerberus was indoctrinated?

Cerberus is but that doesn't mean the Illusive Man was indoctrinated along with them. I'm personally hoping he'll show up at the Normandy with some suitcases looking for a place to crash.

TIM now stands for The Indoctrinated Man.

that's so terrifying.

Oh crud, I missed some epic arguing. :(

Tron Bonne, Soapy, I salute you.
