I took a break from my Galinda/Glinda picture to work on my x-mas card...

While there is no new area addressed in this update, I have made a LOT of alterations. I worked some more on the bangs, but mainly I spent a lot of time on the face.

Before stepping away from this one back in November, I'd been basing this off a picture, and I kinda realized when I returned to it that it was time to ignore the picture and just do what looks right to me.

As a result, the shape of the jawline was altered, the eyes have been altered in size and placement. The forehead made bigger, the bridge of the nose shortened (essentially shortening the whole face). In essence a lot of tweaks.

Here's the result.

I made a few more tweaks to her head, and started working on her body. I painted her chest, arms, and dress... the hands and legs have yet to be started.

I have a day away from my tablet so I started shading a hand drawn picture I'm doing on paper with pencil. Here are some progress scans...

Well I've decided come hell or high water, I'm gonna learn to use my graphics tablet. When I started this piece, I decided I'd force myself to use it almost exclusively.

As for the subject of this piece... I decided to do a picture of the Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) from Gregory Maguire's book 'Wicked' and, obviously, 'The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz'.

Like I said, first time really taking my graphics tab for a serious spin, so comments and critiques would be appreciated.

Update on Galinda/Glinda, once again.

More work on the face, the crown, the scepter, the hands, and the dress.

Also, here's some early work on the munchkin head... just some beginning of defining his features, and some near complete work on the eyes.

Galinda Update...

I've nearly finished the figures, added some hills, the yellow brick road, a sky and clouds.

​

I still need a bit more shadow work on the figures, but generally they are done. Also, I'm gonna add the emerald city in the background, and then I'll be done.
