Been MIA recently... Just busy.

Anyway, starting a new piece based off 'The Maxx'.

Here's the sketch of the maxx, himself. I'm thinking I'll add some side characters to it.

Kinda finished the layout. Added Mr. Gone in the background and a dead isz on the maxx's claw.

Moving on to my next work in progress, I'm doing a pic based on 'Alice 's Adventures in Wonderland'. Going for a dark tone (I know... not the most original idea). Anyway, here's a sketch of the first piece: The white rabbit...

Other characters I'm doing are Alice, the Hatter, the Cheshire Cat, and the Queen... Maybe one or two more... We'll see.

Anyway, this is just getting under way... Your comments now and throughout would be appreciated. Thanks!

Awesome, love the idea! Can't wait to see Alice and the Cheshire Cat. You should consider doing the caterpillar, the 'drug' theme could go well with the dark tone.

yeah... im thinking im not gonna do the queen, and I think im gonna do the Cheshire Cat as more of the background so there is probably gonna be room for more and the caterpillar would be first on the list.

The final layout...

Added the Cheshire Cat, sky, the Dormouse, cards in the foreground, and some flowers.

Laid in flat color...

Just as a side note, ALL colors are temps. So temporary, in fact, that I think the Hatter's suit prob won't even be green, etc...

Plus the color pallet in general is all over the place. Anyway, this was just an exercise in laying down color boundaries. Things will change A LOT as I make progress...

Did a lot more work, preparing to break out the tablet and paint this thing...

First I tweaked all the colors so I'm much happier with the overall color pallet...

I also did stuff you can't really 'see' because its stuff like... breaking the arms up into separate levels so they'll be a lot easier to paint later....

Mostly, I'm just posting to see what people think about the flat colors...

The red of the fez still LEAPS out to me, but im thinking in the end is will be lighter and closer to brown or orange. Other than that, do you guys see anything annoying to your eye...
