really cool...I'm just having a problem with HER left eye, it might be leaning too upwards? too big? I don't know.

i definitely see what you're saying... thanks for the critique.

That's cool work, Matt but I'd be lying if I didn't think that she looked a little creepy smiling like she is in one of the pics.

Great job. :word:

Taking a break from my Glinda pic to work on more pressing issues: my 2008 x-mas card...

Here's the design.

It's actually gonna be something of an advent calendar, the idea being Santa got fired due t the economy, he's drunk, and you have to steal stuff from his pockets if you want any presents for x-mas.

xmas08_01.jpg

That's the idea anyway. I'd have to get this printed out and mess around with construction before I'm committed to anything.

I'd love to hear thoughts on the design.

Well, the design itself has a great old school animated look to it; IMO, I love it.

Your pockets are slightly uneven but not damaging.

sure thing :] amazing work btw. did you model your latest poison ivy after any celebrity. she reminds me of kirsten dunst, maybe that's just me.

This is still one of my fave pieces of yours.

Well I've decided come hell or high water, I'm gonna learn to use my graphics tablet. When I started this piece, I decided I'd force myself to use it almost exclusively.

As for the subject of this piece... I decided to do a picture of the Elphaba (The Wicked Witch of the West) from Gregory Maguire's book 'Wicked' and, obviously, 'The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz'.

Like I said, first time really taking my graphics tab for a serious spin, so comments and critiques would be appreciated.

Yep.. the pockets aren't actually set just because this MIGHT be turned into a mini advent calendar-spoof where you pick pocket stuff from Santa, but I gotta figure out sizes of wholes before I can place the pockets.

Thanks and no. Just kinda had the character in mind and doodled. I can kinda see that though. :)

This is still one of my fave pieces of yours.

Thanks!

i always enjoy your Christmas cards

Can you tell me what you use to color/draw your art with? I love your style so much, and I want to get more into computer art, and I think that's what you may be using. Also, I want a digital drawing pad for christmas, do you own one that you may recommend?

Thank you, and keep up the great work!

I use, and LOVE, my intuos3 Wacom tablet & photoshop. I generally sketch on paper, scan, and then redraw in photoshop.

A bit more work on my x-mas card. Much more work to come, but I'm currently limited to shading with a feathered lasso tool and a paint bucket...

xmas08_03.jpg

I think I accidentally pitched my Wacom pen out when I cleaned my apartment, so I just bought a new one (to the tune of 70 bucks) and it should be here tomorrow.

This card has to be done and ready to mail by Sunday night so they can go out early Monday... Keep an eye out for the final on this card soon.

Ha! That's an awesome picture. Sorry about the pen, though.

That's what I want for Christmas! But my dad said we can only afford the Bamboo Fun, but.. ehh.. I'd rather pay the difference for my own gift. Can you give me any insight on this problem please? lol thank you.

I know this is Matts' thread, but I'd personally not waste the money on the bamboo. go for an intuos3. I'd suggest looking at electronic stores for deals or even ebay.

This one Is only $129, which isn't a big setup up from the bamboo.

My tablet's lasted me almost 3 years and is still pretty mint, and i don't really go easy on it. I don't think buying a used one would be a terrible idea, just make sure it's in good condition.

Happy Hunting. :)

I have to agree... The Intuos3 is bada$$, new or used. Shop around, or ask your dad to hold on to the money till you can pay the difference. It will be worth the wait! ;)

Here's a closer view of Santa's head.

I spent some tablet time working on it, so it's near done. Now on to the body...

Remaining: Arms, the bottle, and little tweaks.

I could say more, but I just spent the entire weekend cranking this thing out, so I'm gonna shower and watch TV. ;)

I'd love to hear thoughts!

Just finished cutting out the front and backs of all my cards, 70 pieces in total, and hot-gluing them all together. Here they are, in all their glory:

Tomorrow they go in the mail... thank god.
