I don't think they completely murdered the element of surprise, but I think we can see too much of the skeleton because of it.

You make some good points. Regarding the selling off of movie rights for certain characters it seemed to me that they did touch on that. I recall them talking about using the assets to keep the company afloat during the bankruptcy and splitting the characters apart and licensing to other studios to make the films etc. They just didn't go into great detail on what that entailed.

Well, that part was actually more dramatic. They were talking about splitting up Marvel as a whole. It could have been a real possibility that the rights to use characters period would have been sold off had things gotten worse.

That part was very misleading. They never said the code was only abandoned for a single story. They made it seem like Marvel abandoned it completely because of the 70s counterculture.

To be fair, most stories that cover that seem to imply that story was the end of the CCA. I heard about it years ago and I assumed the same until I looked it up.

Anyone else annoyed by the way they constantly say "Marvel's" at the beginning of every movie title? It gets particularly ridiculous in a video like this:

http://youtu.be/KlTmrbPEPUQ

I think that started because of the British "The Avengers", which had previously been adapted into a Hollywood film. They kept it going forward. It is worth mentioning that Disney sometimes bills their films as "Disney's" Such and Such Insert Name Here, as well. Part of it is the brand recognition of the name.

True but the fans usually can figure out what's going to happen even without these announcements. Infinity War and Civil War were predicted long ago. The rest of the movies were either already semi-officially announced or heavily rumored.

The general audience is still going to be surprised. They have no idea this announcement even happened and the first they hear of these movies is when they see the trailers.
Yeah there weren't many surprises in the announced slate this time but awesome just to get confirmation of them all as the rumours were all cool.

Yes but if a Disney representative was at a Disney event announcing 10 new Disney movies at once I don't think he would constantly say "Disney's this and Disney's that" over and over. I don't think Feige did it at the event but that video just goes overboard with it.

They don't necessarily say it at the event, but they DO prominently display their logo above the title card (just like the Marvel films). They sometimes have the announcer say "Disney's etc." in the ads for the films, too. I've seen quite a few ads for "Disney's Big Hero 6" lately.

Whoever did hair & makeup on Emily VanCamp deserves a lifetime job. She's never looked more fetching.:hubba

She looked gorgeous. I really want to see her guest star in Agents of Shield and other Marvel movies.

Their point about murdering the element of surprise may have some merit, but I don't buy their idea that knowing Infinity War is Part 3 is going to make Age of Ultron irrelevant.

For one, I can't see the guy who introduced Thanos into the MCU in the first place not touching on it at all. We already know Loki's scepter/the Mind Stone is in the movie so that tells me the Infinity Stones/Thanos plot will be furthered in some manner, even if it's not the main plot.

I thought about starting a new thread for this, but I figured it'd be better to start here (unless somewhere more appropriate exists. If so, point me that way please).

Anyway, with Marvel going cosmic, do you think they actually have entities like Eternity, Master Order/Lord Chaos, and probably just needed, Lady Death? These concepts might be too out there for the GA, but then again they may love it.

Honestly the only one I see as absolutely necessary is Death. Thanos' obsession with her is a big part of the story.

Death is the big one. I think it's a question about whether Death will be a person or more abstract. But I certainly think they will cover that. It is Thanos's whole motivation, after all.

I think there was a scene in GotG where they show four entities and the infinity stones together in a sculpture-like image

We saw a Celestial in GOTG and I'm sure we'll get at least a cameo from other cosmic beings.

But I have a weird feeling they are going to alter Thanos's motivation.

I agree but I hope thats not the case.

That article is hilarious. The headline is "Iron Man 4 release date" and then the article talks about speculation on the Black Panther plot, and states that there is no Iron Man 4. That takes some real guts to risk forever losing your readers like that.

Interesting article. (for those who don't know Cracked is a comedy site where every article is tongue-in-cheek so don't take it too seriously) But I mainly want to discuss point #3: They've Announced Too Much and Brutally Murdered the Element of Surprise

Honestly how much surprise can there be in a superhero movie? We all know The Avengers are going to defeat Ultron. We all know Batman & Superman are not going to kill each other and are obviously going to team up at the end.

His point about spoiling which heroes are going to show up might be fair but you have to announce the movies at some point don't you? How long can they keep them a secret?

I read this article a few days ago (I frequent Cracked.com on an almost daily basis) and I found myself agreeing with a lot of their points, although I do think that they are somewhat exaggerating the nature of it all.
They do raise a good point about saturation in the CB market, so I hope that doesn't wind up being a factor in the potential decline of superhero films. Since Marvel studios is the one responsible for this new trend I hope that other studios effort's don't dilute theirs, and that they will be able to continue what they are doing for decades to come.

I need to start checking them out every day. Instead I get linked there about once a month and end up with 9000 browser tabs open. The place is almost as bad as TVTropes.

It's incredibly interesting and addictive, I recommend anyone frequent that site if they want to be educated and entertained.
The Cracked reader app is 99 cents on the App Store and is money well spent, I always catch up on the articles when I have a few minutes of downtime.
