MCU: The Marvel Cinematic Universe Official Discussion - Part 3

Maybe that's one reason why we're getting Dr. Strange. Set him up now so he's a familiar face when phase 4 or 5 hits and we go full tilt supernatural with the slate (GR, Blade, Strange 2, end w/Midnight Sons)

I've got a name emerging on a possible actress for Monica Rambeau should they ever decide to bring her into the MCU: Carmen Ejogo.

A team made up of Marvel's supernatural characters. What's not to like about that

Midnight Sons taking on Lilth and her demons was a awesome comic event from the early nineties comics and would make a great movie.

In the stores opening issue Lilth is woken up after thousands of years inside the corpse of a Leviathan in the Arctic by some explorers . It is very cinematic.

The supernatural side of the marvel cinematic universe has yet to be explored.

There are only so many characters you can make Avengers or Shield members until it gets a bit repetitive.

Or a Tomb of Dracula style movie as a sequel to Dr. Strange with Strange replacing Quincy Harker, who I believe was the old man with all the answers kind of chracter on the team. Blade, Hannibal. Replace Rachel van Helsing with Elsa Bloodstone, maybe. Not sure how the character of Dracula would work though. He's technically in public domain, but they changed him for Blade Trinity

Oh man MCU Dracula :awesome: let's get some Werewolf By Night in there too please.

Can anyone use the character of Dracula then?

Pretty sure Dracula is public domain.

Yeah, I always thought a character like that was pretty much fair game for anyone as long as their interpretation doesn't interfere with another.

G'day,

Marvel have done cinema movies, shorts, TV series, TV mini series ad the Netflix stuff. How about a few made for TV movies? Then can basically use the TV/movie sets they have but overall effort especially post production would be considerably more then a AOS TV episode.

My first contender: Lady Liberators . Featuring The Calvary/Melinda May, Sky/Daisy-Quake, Bobbi Morse- Mockingbird and Lady Sif.

If anything Luke Cage and Iron Fist also deserve their own movies solo not a Netflix TV series because in a sense it is a cop-out whereas on the big screen mainstream they would be able to be showcased better especially if you were to cast the right people in the right roles

I'd rather see a Heroes for Hire film somewhere down the line. Looking forward to the individual tv shows but I prefer Luke & Danny as a team.

Hope we get some Daughters of the Dragon action too.

Movies tend to make more money, but the ever changing landscape of TV certainly has people's attention. The work being done on TV is become just as good (if not better) and just as popular (if not more so) than cinema.

And having 12 or 13 hours instead of 2 to 2 1/2 gives more time to flesh things out. Not just the main characters, but the supporting cast and world as well. Also, it's a good way to test the waters when it comes to how these characters will be received. And if it goes well, then there's no reason why they couldn't potentially get a film later on.

G;day,

True but TV has limitations of budget and time. A TV movie would allow a larger budget with much better special effects. Post production CGI takes time.

Streaming outlets like Netflix don't have those same constraints. The time constraint only becomes an issue if you're beholden to the pilot season cycle. Netflix shows operate like movies - they schedule a release date based on how long the production needs. It's getting the same level of post-production time a movie would get.

And these have higher budgets than network shows, as well.

Sometimes. Not always. Netflix and cable programs only shoot 12-13 episode seasons and are done filming by the time it airs unlike network shows that shoot and broadcast almost all year. The time will be allotted to get things right.

Game of Thrones only has 10 a season, and it works.

Sigh...

When are people going to realize that 13 > 2?

:whatever:

Casting this lady would finally mean that there would be a black woman in the MCU who isn't an Alien (Zoe Saldana as Gamora), a non-hero (Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple) or a villain (Ruth Negga perhaps when Agents of SHIELD returns).

The lady being:

I'll be stunned if she doesn't show up on Danny's show.

If they made a TV movie, I'd prefer it take a different approach than the tv shows. Maybe a replacement for the One Shots (which seem to have gone away). Really, I just want a Warriors Three story.

I don't know what the budget is for the Marvel Defenders shows or how if it is split between Netflix and Marvel but Netflix spent $90 million on Marco Polo making it one of the most expensive shows ever made.
