Did Marvel ever clear up the ownership issues?

Someone should ask Lord Feige about the darn Fantastic Four.

I don't know. I don't think anything has changed. People are jumping to conclusions regarding the Inhumans losing their release date.

I'm sure that Lord Feige is actively working on getting the FF back. At least I hope so.

I would love to see Namor as an antagonist.

Oh, and Marvel Studios getting Fantastic 4 back would get me almost as hyped as when they got the rights to use Spider-Man and be the creative minds of his solo films.

Out of all the new film rumors, the Black Widow solo film is getting very serious greenlight considerations and if approved, will get one of the 2020 slots, according to one of my studio sources.

Namor as the antagonist in a Black Panther film would be amazing!

And Fiege has to be lobbying for the F4 rights. They're useless to Fox and hold infinite potential for Marvel.

Yup!

Quite the contrary - I think that its for that very reason that the rights aren't useless to FOX. They'll know the rights worth to MARVEL and they'll use that to squeeze MARVEL for everything they can - I mean, this is FOX we're talking about here

But I think there's a new calculus here. A good working relationship with Marvel has a lot of value to Fox. Demanding an outrageous price for FF would be counter-productive to building a good working relationship with Marvel.

I think he means useless in terms of being able to do much with the property themselves ie put out more F4 films after the last failure. Of course the rights are a big asset regardless due to their worth to Marvel (infinite potential as he says).

On the other hand, Marvel knows how little value they are to Fox. Last movie, Fox didn't even make a profit from the movie. There's an argument for Fox to hold onto the rights if the movies at least make some profit after production and advertising, but there's no reason to lose money just to keep the rights that aren't worth much anyway. There may be a bit of playing chicken but, if Fox's demands are too high, I could see Disney saying "try it and see if you want to lose more money." After all, rights like Daredevil simply reverted, they weren't sold, and I wouldn't be surprised if that happens to the Fantastic Four as well.

Too bad FOX still have the rights to Fantastic Four

Just saw Civil War. I'm speechless.
So that makes two characters that they have retained the rights to and adapted while the MCU was growing, and they've knocked both of them out of the freaking park. FF up next please.

There's three if you count Punisher along with Daredevil and Spidey.

With the support for a Black Widow movie, I would love a movie with BW that calls her fellow female Avengers to take down the baddie like the new A-Force.

seeing how it took 7 years without any daredevil related fox film for marvel to get him back

fox can hold on to them with no film till 2023 if they want lol

I envy you Marvel fanboys.

Somehow Marvel studios consistently makes films I really enjoy and want to re-watch about characters I don't care for (or in Cap's case loathe) in their comic book forms, yet WB somehow made a film about characters that I love (yup Bats and Supes all the way) that is dreadful and I can't watch more than once?

Hell, Marvel films are better than Singer's X-films - and the X-Men were a Marvel comic that I used to love.

I mean, I can't stand Cap (as a comic book character) but TWS gets better every time I see it, and Civil War.....let's not even go there in terms of awesome.

I didn't care a lot for Thor comics, except during the 80's Simonson run, but I enjoy the films - I actually prefer The Dark World, despite a lacklustre villain it's great fun and Hemsworth makes Thor a really likeable character.

I never thought I'd give a darn about a talking Raccoon, but I simply love Guardians of the Galaxy - to me it's way better than the new Star Wars film.

I mean, if I cared about these characters as comic book characters, I'd be in heaven.

So, lap it up Marvel fanboys and enjoy it while it lasts, but just be gracious about it - and then one day when Marvel finally makes a crap film and simultaneously WB gets its **** together, fires Snyder and starts making great films again ( like back in the TDK days), I promise not to talk smack about Marvel. Honest !
