Modern Warfare 3 reveal in 5 days - Part 1

It's better than MW2 that's for sure, but it's ultimately an unremarkable campaign. It's opening few levels make you think it's onto something special but then those same 3 or 4 levels are just repeated throughout the rest of campaign. CoD4's All Ghillied Up level is basically recreated 4 or 5 times and the rest is just shrapnel in the face.

It's been embarrassingly dumbed down too, even for a Call of Duty game. The first half of A Veteran
playthrough is spent with the words "You are hurt. Get to cover!" on the screen because the game thinks I'm too stupid to realise that for myself when my health is low. Everytime there's a cinematic event as well the game actually describes to you what you have to do, which loses any real sort of reactive excitement. Veteran is also too easy. Like WAY too easy. The difficulty spiked 3 or 4 times but other than that it's a breeze.

But it's still a fun, capable campaign. The fact is the CoD4 has been done now, and remade by both its own sequels and competitors countless times. You're not going to be amazed by anything, and Crysis 2 and Resistance 3 both have better campaigns, but I had fun while playing it.
Thanks for the response! I have R3 on my queue. I guess I'll skip MW3 for now

One thing I think we can all agree on is, COD Elite has been a complete fiasco so far.

COD Elite and the useless shotguns are the worse things so far, yes.

I say they are ****ing it up on purpose to make it look like there is high demand & it let me linked my account & it still wont connet

Gonna see if I can finish the story and hit the multi in a bit:awesome::up: and yeah so far elite is a bust lol!!!:D

I was pleased with the campaign.

It was sad too see Soap go since we've been playing as him since the first MW. After MW2 I thought Price was going to die and Soap would seek revenge against Makarov.

I loved everything about the campaign. Few jaw dropping moments during it. Seeing New York being destroyed was crazy. It felt like you were actually part of a war throughout many of the levels, Yuri's backstory was great and the ending is very satisfying.

I hope come next patch this is fixed.

You know, I think they nerfed the shotguns because they're a primary weapon now but that's ridiculous.

I thought the campaign was great too. The first few "levels" were especially amazing.

Why did they have to kill Soap. :csad:

It was really sad. Very emotional moment. At least we got to get revenge for him in probably my favorite level of the game and maybe of any game this year. Everything from getting to play as Price to walking in like a badass to finally putting the beat down on Makarov and finally the nice quiet ending for Price. Just phenomenal

so how does this game play on PS3?

also, do I need to play any of the other MW games to understand/enjoy this one? ( never played any MW game before )

Havent not played this one but I would say no as that wasnt the case for any of the others and I dont imagine it would be different now. CoD games have a story in the campaign but Ive always found them secondary to the gameplay and setpieces they put you in. If you can follow along thats great, but I dont think its really necesary to enjoy the game. Ive never found the narrative to be particularly strong or engaging

Got my one year Elite subscription activated. Now just need the site to work so that I can become a founder

Price is a bad ass mother****er..... Glad to hear Billy Murray's voice back as Price. the ending... JUGGANAUT!!!

Poor Soap.... both surprised that he died... but then not shocked that they killed one of them...

Damn good game, VERY intense campaign....Wonder how a MW4 could go now with everything resolved?

I hope they go in a new direction, maybe even drop the Modern Warfare (they won't). Give us a clean break and something new.

The COD franchise needs to slow down IMO. Go from annual to once every two years.

Yeah, but why do that when they know that they can bank on a new title every year? Unfortunately, their ultimate goal is to make money, and a **** ton at that. I agree with you that they should come out with a game every couple of years, but in business terms it wouldn't make much sense. They know that most everyone and their momma will buy the game simply on the CoD name alone. Everything else just falls into place after that.

The thing is, now with something like Elite (if they ever get it working) you release a game every 2 years, that missing year so to speak you fill it with map packs, new game modes, extra content and make people re-up with them for another year. That's $50 in that missing year which is almost the equivalent of another game. Theoretically of course because the logic would be a new game plus have people re-up with Elite for another year.

I would like them to slow it down but at least the games they do release every year are very good quality games just like the Assassin's Creed games.

Amazing game. I dont get the *****ing. If you expected different, that's your fault. MW has one of the best single player campaigns i've ever played.

The whole arc throughout the 3 games is awesome. I love it, does it get a little ridiculous of course it does but its a video game, I'm pretty sure its allowed to. The whole story is a lot of fun to play and you do end up loving some of the characters like Price and Soap. I really ended up loving Yuri in this game.

So I've been playing this for the last two days and I'm somewhat underwhelmed. Spec Ops is fun as usual, but the campaign is very quickly losing my interest. Killing a thousand mindless AI opponents and then moving to the next checkpoint is getting old. Been there done that. The multiplayer is fun but really really REALLY frustrating. One match I'll be whooping all kinds of ass and then the next it just feels like my guns stop working. I put an entire clip of my SCAR into an opponent and they didn't die. I got the hit marker so I know I hit em, but they didn't die. That is frustrating. I've just gotta play more to get more stuff unlocked I guess to find a gun that'll work for me. The game is fun, but it definitely doesn't feel new or fresh. It's more an expansion pack of MW2 IMO. I'll have fun playing with my buddies and whatnot, but I don't foresee this being my go-to game.

thanks.

but based on what I've been reading here, it seems this game is not really a "story-driven" game.

so, I think I'll pass on this and check out more story-driven FPS titles like Resistance and Bioshock.

On the single player front, I know what you're saying. It's like I'm having fun playing a certain mission but it gets to the point where you just want to move along and get to the end of it.

As far as the multiplayer, so true. First couple of matches I was on fire killing folks like crazy, last batch of matches I played I was lucky to break even.
