Not yet, but I can say that it isnt dead. Im a mod on a board that has someone close to the production and he gave a hint that there just may be a sequel. My thoughts is that they are waiting for the DVD sales.

But didn't the movie cost 30 million dollars to make and it made 60 million dollars in the U.S. alone? I would've thought they would've hopped on a sequel by now:huh:

I will shoot them in the face if they make a sequel of this. They don't need to drag Freddy even more through the mud.

Actually, part 3 of the old series did that. this movie brought back some dignity for the character.

Nope. Sorry. It killed any dignity it had. Dead.

There was nothing redeeming about this movie at all.

I disagree personally.

Out of all the remakes they hashed out, this is my (only) favorite. It's taken way more seriously, the acting is far better, and it's wonderfully shot. I think the first half of the movie is a bit dry (aside from Freddy) but the second half when Nancy and Quentin are figuring out Krueger's past is just great. It becomes more of a mystery thriller where as the first half, which had some of that, was more of Freddy just killing the characters.
Jackie Earle Haley has become one of my favorite actors in the past year. Seeing him in Watchmen, watching Little Children, Human Target, and this just sealed it for me. He's great. If anyone were to play the new Freddy, he is it. He should stay there too. Englund is over, after a great 20 years. He is the original Freddy Krueger, and will be remembered and cherished as always, but now we have a new one with a great first start. It'd be a shame to not see Jackie reprise his role. I also hope the sequel is taken seriously and has great actors in it.

Because, let's face it, the sequels to the original, and hell even the original itself didn't have the greatest acting in the world. Freddy made those movies, as well as the creativity and the special effects. They were cornier than this remake was (but they were also mostly in the 80's).

What!? Dream Warriors is considered one of the best out of the series by alot of fans and insiders. It brought the franchise back to life after the dismal Freddys Revenge.

This was a decent remake. I was entertained. Just like the "Friday the 13th" remake I just wish they'd delved into the mythology a little more. I like a good backstory and answers to how he's able to be in your dreams? Why just attack the kids and not the parents who were responsible? Why wait 13-14yrs to attack?

Watched it this morning.Only thing I really liked was the back story.Fun seeing his origin in a different way.

for anyone to suggest that this new remake is even remotely close to Dream Warriors is frankly a joke.

Dream Warriors is a kick ass movie and a great sequel, great cast, great effects.

Dream Warriors wipes the floor with this crappy new remake.

Better acting? yeah right. none of this new cast had the charisma of the original Nancy or others.

To suggest the new Nancy was a better actress than Heather Langenkamp is a joke. She's the only true Nancy.

Hell, this new remake can't even match Freddy's Dead for entertainment.

As for the sequels being corny. This new remake was far more cornier than anything i've seen in the last 10 years, generic, boring, uninventive a waste of time overall.

there was nothing remotely interesting in this movie. a waste of money.
a competent producer and director could have shot this movie with better practical effects for less than half the budget.

The only redeeming feature of this film was Jackie Earle Healey, but even he was given a poor script which was beneath his acting ability.

what a waste.

Pizza face was more memorable than this new burnt face cuddly toy freddy.

Whats next for Platinum Dunes? which movie do they want to bastardize next?

can't wait for it:doh:

Actually they have a hand in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot and a Monster Squad remake coming up.

I think you need to watch the old ones again. "I AM THE WIZARD MASTER!"

They are hokey, dude. While Dream Warriors is creative and fun, I felt the series got lighter and cornier with each sequel. The only thing that kept these movies up was Englund and the great special effects and creativity. The remake was taken alot more seriously in terms of tone, which I really appreciated.

As for "cuddly face"... Okay. Sure. :down

Watched this for the first and most likely, last time last night. Loved Haley as Freddy, everything else was meh.

The original film was slightly scary..everything after that was trash. They had Freddy go the Leprechaun route.

I would say all the films have at least one corny moment. I've never liked Freddy walking down the street with elongated arms. They just didn't have the effects to pull that off at the time. Then in the new film the computer screen was kind of cheesy but I didn't mind it.

The series got boring to me after the first one.Freddy was no longer scary..just a bad comedian:PI recently watched all of them in a row and I felt like I was watching burn victim Carrot Top murder people.

ABsolutely, as it went on, but I would have to say that New Nightmare has a no nonsense Freddy, proabably even more seriously played than the original. I can't even remember one corny line of dialogue. For me, Freddy was scary again in that movie.

Corny line from the movie or Freddy?

Freddy was hardly ever something I thought was corny, he was the best thing in all the movies.

Though, if I had to compare which Freddy was more corny and less corny, I'm sorry, but Jackie wins the less corny part.

I was loitering at the mall yesterday, and finally saw Freddy's sweater at Hot Topic. It looks great, nice material and even has the red collar. I think this winter you'll always be able to see red and green stripes under my coat.

Ain't it a beauty? Got mine last year. :)

:hrt: the new avatar by the way.
