I go all the back to Less Than Zero with Spader. He played the slimy drug dealer Rip.
I thought he was great in that role.

I know it means nothing due to the source says Kang will also feature in AoU. I just follkw him on twitter for a good laugh when he tweets. Idk much.about kang or how hed fit in but could be co haha

Involving Kang would mean that LokiD was right all along.... AND I WILL NOT STAND FOR THAT TO BE SO!!!

I wonder if such early casting mean cameos in any of the Phase 2 movies or Agents of Shield

I would hope so. I would atleast expect part of the show to transition into SHIELD.

You don't even know his real name. HE IS THE ****ING LIZARD KING.

As much as Joss Whedon hates Hank Pym, I'd seriously doubt it. But it would definitely be an interesting angle and makes sense --- i.e., Ultron created in Hank Pym's image/voice. Don't think it's gonna happen, though. :csad:

:whatever:

Oh really? then why does Chris Evans always find a reason to lose his mask in a fight??

Because it's easier to emote without the mask on and him losing the mask helps get across the feeling that he's tired and worn out during the fight and he doesn't have a secret identity so why does it matter?

And why does Thor not wear his freakin' HELMET????

Because they think Chris Hemmensworth looks better without it and I agree.

Anyway, I don't see why it's a big deal. James Spader is fantastic and wether they do a puppet or a cgi Ultron with Spader providing the voice and maybe mocap or they create a reason in the script why Ultron would look human it's still going to be a great character and a great performance. Ultron looking human wouldn't be a detriment to the film, nor is it necessary for the film to work. I'm happy either way.

But Cap is Marvel / Disney and it still happened. And Chris Evans wasn't a "heavyweight" (a still isn't). I'd put Spader right where Downey was before Ironman I.

Look...I hope you are right....but anything can happen.

It's not an ego thing. There are actual artistic reasons why you'd have the hero take of the mask at key moments.

But do you want Ultron to have "personality?" Really......What makes him a threat is his lack of it.

Ultron doesn't lack personality. He's constantly yelling and laughing maniacally, he behaves in a very theatrical manner, he has a very morbid sense of humor, and his two primary motivations are to punish his father who he resents simply for giving him life in the first place and to **** his mother. That's a lot of personality right there.

Yeah, it seems some people don't understand what makes Ultron so interesting

though I STRONGLY disagree, regarding Ultron having a human appearance. To me, that's not okay.

Yeah, it seems some people don't understand what makes Ultron so interesting

That being said, Whedon has said in interviews that, to him, Ultron's defining character trait both in the comics and in his approach to writing to character is anger. I don't think we have to worry about Spader playing Ultron like an evil version of Data, the guy's going to be emoting like crazy I'm sure.

^ This. I am anxiously awaiting some concept art. Atleast a year plus away, sure, but I really am curious as to what he will look like. That opening mouth part of his face, it's so defining.

If there was ONE character from Marvel who I REALLY wouldn't want to see changed more than tiniest slightest bit, it would be Ultron

My guess is that Spader will voice the character and he will do motion capture and on set reading for the actors and filming.

For those of you who caught the premier of Blacklist, I don't think you have to worry about Spader's performance. This guy knows how to play characters that have serious issues and are head cases.

Ultron's look isn't necessarily inhuman enough to require motion capture. They could pull it off with a mask and a costume and use some CGI to touch it up a bit.

Yeah, here's a preview video of how that would look...

Watched The Blacklist last night and Spader was riveting, as expected. He will own the sh** out of this role, and probably the movie itself.

agreed
thinkin Spader is going to join the ranks of Hiddleston, McKellan, and Ledger come 2015

ps. love your forum name there, rowsdower, took me a minute to remember where it came from, but yeah, fantastic
