And what a switch from the timid caretaker she just played in Knives Out. She's got promise.
I’m hoping Rami plays it differently than the “creepy aloof” vibe I’m getting that we’ve seen in the last couple of villains.
For once I wish we’d get a villain as suave and physical as Bond.
He doesn't look scarred but he does look a little rougher. Maybe aged up?
Well maybe they wanted Rami Malek in the role and knew that most reasonable people wouldn’t have a conniption fit if he played the role a little bit older than he was in real life.
That’s the speculation. Malek apparently shot scenes during the Norway sequence that involved masked assassins going to a house and chasing a young girl across a frozen lake. Said girl was apparently a young French actress cast to play “young Lea Seydoux”, and the sequence vaguely matches the story Madeleine told Bond of men being sent to kill her father as a child whilst she was in the house.
And there’s the report that Blofeld in this film has a Hannibal Lecter type role, being visited by Bond and Madeleine whilst in custody for information on Safin. This is kind of confirmed with the recent still they released of Craig and Seydoux and the fact that Waltz’ name is now in the cast listing.
So yeah, the running assumption seems to be that Malek’s character is a former rival or competitor whose filled the power vacuum Spectre left behind.
I'm fairly certain that they wont kill her early in the film. No way they have a female henchman (Ana) and not have her fight Madeleine. Please don't kill gaptooth in the first five minutes. Let this old man Bond go off into sunset. Killing her no matter how well shot is a total bore and cliche. Eh.
Agreed. Please don't kill gaptooth in the first five minutes. Let this old man Bond go off into sunset. Killing her no matter how well shot is a total bore and cliche. Eh.
Then they should have made the character younger. And he doesnt look a bit older. He looks like hes in his 50s.
As long as he isn't part of Spectre. It's still unclear he's a rival, could just be another villain out there from Madeline's past resurfacing.
I don't like Spectre all that much, but it is important to this Bond's overall story, and I think it would be a mistake to try to avoid it.That doesn’t strike me as a problem at all, not with this franchise. Bond villains are supposed to be grotesque, odd and off-putting. Ian Fleming did it with all of his antagonists and the films have reflected that to varying degrees.
Could be, yeah. Though Spectre itself is almost certainly going to be touched upon, with Waltz’ involvement.
It doesn't seem like that will be the case. Which is good. I wouldn't have been thrilled about that either.
It'd be interesting to see a settled down Bond and how he deals with that. We haven't seen that before.
