November 2007 Solicitations

Exactly. What is great about Bendis is he can simultanously get a character's powers wrong while being inconsistant with them.

It's something I'm still waiting to be explained by Brevoort's increasingly ******ed covers for Bendis.

Looks like Tony Stark just became James Bond.

His series since becoming the Director of SHIELD has been pretty espionage driven.

I think I spot Black Widow, the blonde could be Sharon Carter, the brunette being Katie Bishop is a stretch and Blood Scream's always a good villain. Okay maybe not. Cheung's art rocks anyways.

WHOA! Annihilation What if??? What is Annihilus WON absolutely? Easy, Earth is PWNED. Is that a Dell'Otto cover? The guy does the best Ronan and Nova I've ever seen.
You think so? Earth's got a pretty ridiculously high concentration of really, really powerful super-powered individuals. Remember, Annihilus is trying to destroy the whole world, so it'd draw supervillains into the fight as well. I think Earth would stand a better chance than most planets.

Yeah, like, T'Challa alone could put Annihilus in a headlock or something.

Dead horse: BEATEN!

Really, though, I don't think Earth could win. It's not like outer space was skimping on superpowered soldiers to throw at the Annihilation Wave or something. They had Nova, Quasar, Gamora, Drax, Ronan, the entire Kree empire, Galactus Heralds, Galactus himself, and more besides, and even then it wasn't the actual resistance itself that turned the tide but betrayal from Thanos. At the time of Civil War, Earth had a total of two active cosmic-level superheroes: Sentry and Dr. Strange. And Sentry, as we know, is a useless living toilet. There was...let's see...one omega mutant even remotely near full potential, which was Iceman, who is also a useless living toilet. Jean was dead, Xavier was powerless, Cable was at half power, Hulk was away, Thor was dead; the most powerful heroes that Earth probably had to offer at this point were Iron Man and Namor, who are -- at best -- maybe as powerful as Ravenous, who's just a henchman. Earth's military is a joke compared to almost every single alien culture in existence. The only thing Earth really has as any advantage is its high number of largely B-class non-cosmic heroes and even then the Wave would just overwhelm with sheer numbers. The only way I see Earth being able to win is through sheer Comic Book Against All Odds Victory (which is kinda what won it in the original too, it has to be said), probably by some Reed Richards deus ex machination.

Galactus and the Silver Surfer were taken out by Tenebrous and Aegis, and they didn't seem too concerned with anything other than Galactus and the Silver Surfer. Also, Beta Ray Bill was on Earth and active, even though we didn't see him actually do anything between Stormbreaker and Omega Flight. Also, Hercules, Ares, and the pantheons of Earth's gods were still around, although it's debatable whether any of them other than Hercules would actually help.

You're right about the rest, though. Marvel's really powerful heroes were mostly off-world or dead or mentally damaged at the time the Annihilation Wave hit. If Earth's superhumans did win, it'd probably be through the combined intellect of Reed Richards, Dr. Doom, Iron Man, the Black Panther, and the various other supergeniuses.

The preview explicitly mentions "Silent War" (not surprising, since it's written by David Hine), so add Black Bolt and the Inhumans to Earth's defences.

Appearances can be deceiving.

And sorry, there's no "factually wrong" when it comes to art. Some nikkas just have bad taste.

There are facts when the subject is Granov's artwork. Another fact is that he draws the best Iron Man ever.

Oh, we can agree on that ****.

Way off topic, lol, what do you think of Stjepan Sejic?

He also paints some sexy *****es. I haven't seen him do anything other than pin-ups and covers, myself, but I'd be pretty surprised if his art isn't stiff. Most painters seem to have trouble doing the whole motion thing.

It's sort of like an airbrushed Jo Chen or James Jean at times.
