In an ideal world he'd be speaking German, but clearly the next best is to use a German accent. The idea of him having an English accent is, as you point out, idiotic at best.

In all seriousness though, this looks FANTASTIC. Spot-on recreation, but here's a question.......How will they portray his skull face as coming about? Mask? Disfigurement? The mask doesn't seem likely as a mask in real-life would never have the look of the Skull's mask from the comics, looking like a real face that moves and everything (Green Goblin's comic mask has the same issue where it's portrayed as just a rubber mask that when worn looks like a real face/prosthetics in the way it's drawn.).

If it's disfigurement, then disfigurement in what way? Will, he get a small dose of his own red dust of death, not enough to kill him, but enough to still disfigure him? Will he receive a "corrupted/inferior" version of the Super-Soldier Serum, and the Red Skull look is just the end result of what Blonsky in TIH was starting to become before adding some Hulk blood to the mix?

Or there's another possibility I've thought of recently.....what if Schmidt already has the nickname of "Red Skull" before ever looking like that, due to being the leader of HYDRA. Then, once he finds the Cosmic Cube, he uses it's matter-rearranging powers to turn his face into a skull ON PURPOSE. I think this would be perfect, because the Red Skull doesn't give a damn about vanity, he's just pure evil and I could totally buy him choosing to look that way. Plus it would give us something different than the same-old "Villain gets horribly disfigured" cliche.
