Anyone know when the EE is due? And also how much longer it will be? Thought the beginning of this movie was a bit too long personally.

But I still want the EE of the 2 versions.

Why is Bilbo in front, he certainly isn't the main character of the movie

:o

The film will arrive on Blu-ray 2D/3D on March 19th! Here's the 2D Combo-Pack cover:

PTX8hN62

:wow: Yes please! I'd wait for the EE too if I didn't love the movie so much. I'll get both...unless the EE gets a release date.

Rumour has it that the EE might come out at around October of this year or November... still a long way :(

We have a release date for the Blu-ray/dvd 19th March, extended edition coming out during the summer

Warner Bros. Home Entertainment has officially announced and detailed both the standard Blu-ray/DVD/UltraViolet and 3D BD/DVD/Ultraviolet Combo Pack releases of director Peter Jackson's The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Both versions of the theatrical cut of the film are set to feature DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1 surround, and arrive on Blu-ray on March 19th.

Official synopsis: The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey is the first chapter in Peter Jackson's new epic trilogy set in Middle-Earth 60 years before J.R.R. Toklien's "The Lord of the Rings" saga. Follow Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman) as he's swept into a quest to reclaim the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor, long ago conquered by the dragon Smaug. Approached by the wizard Gandalf the Grey (Ian McKellen), Bilbo finds himself joining a company of thirteen dwarves led by the legendary warrior Thorin Oakenshield (Richard Armitage). Their journey will take them through treacherous lands swarming with Goblins and Orcs, deadly Wargs, giant Spiders, Shapeshifters and Sorcerers. They must escape the goblin tunnels, where Bilbo meets the creature Gollum (Andy Serkis), who will change his life forever. Alone with Gollum on the shores of an underground lake, the unassuming Bilbo Baggins not only discovers guile and courage that surprise him, he also gains possession of Gollum's "precious" ring that holds unexpected and useful qualities, tied to the fate of all Middle-Earth. Several key talent members from The Lord of the Rings trilogy reprise their roles, along with exciting new cast members.

Knowing me, I'll probably do the same thing I did with LOTR, I'll buy the theatrical editions as they come out and also buy the EE's. in fact, I still have the LOTR theatricals, even though I haven't watched them for some time. I love the series, I'm willing to spend my money to show it :yay:

I never bought the TTT or ROTK theatrical editions. Only the EEs. That's my plan this time around too.

For the love of God, show me Beorn.

I saw an interview where Richard Armitage said that Beorn's House was his favorite scene from the book and from the movie... really looking forward to it.

I will wait until the Extended trilogy box set to buy it; that is if the last two does not disappoint me like the first one.

This sounds bad, but i can barely remember The Hobbit coming out.

It makes me think of its future legacy as a film series. It's too early to tell since we're in the moment but we'll see.

I remember it quite well... maybe because I loved it so much I saw it 3 times. :funny:
