I would bet it will happenAs if there wasn't enough reason to see MoS! Can't wait if it happens.
both are Warner Bros. Movies

Yeah I understand that. That's not the problem. Problem is they keep going back to them. I'm sick of the eagles always bailing our heroes out of trouble.
people will probably get mad then in movie 3 cause they do show up at the battle of five armies. But even so in the book there presence alone doesn't alter the battle, it's when Beorn comes and decides to go full on rape mode on the goblins.Felt to me like that's what they were always meant to be.
A piece of spiritual symbolism, something that only helps those of virtue in their desperate times of need, but won't just do all of the work for them.
I absolutely loved that action sequence.
Here's some thought behind why aren't just showing up left and right...

Exactly, it even says they might lose the battle even with the Eagles showing up.There are also Giant Bats at the battle of five armies, so the Eagles will hardly be the only airborne presence.
Back on set for our last Hobbit pick ups. Our last ever Tolkien pick ups, in fact. It's going to be an intense few weeks, but we're looking forward to shooting some powerful scenes with our great cast. Our next blog is coming soon!

Given what was said in an Empire magazine article last December it made it sound like (at the very least) there's a large chunk (if not all?) of the Battle to film and that it would be done during filming this year:So Pumped
But i wonder, what are they shooting this summer? (people said battle of five armies, but I honestly doubt they didn't film that already)
Most of the principal cast are due to return to New Zealand in early May for what has been called "supplementary shooting", but with the resources entire film productions would sell their third grip for. The only thing any of them is sure of is that they really hadn't got to grips with the Battle Of Five Armies before principal photography concluded in July, so that is bound to play a large role in the production to come. "I've got a clear image of the shape of that battle as I think it'll be," offers the imaginative Richard Armitage, who, as Thorin, will be a front-line participant in the inter-species warfare. "All the dwarves have to play out their stories on the battlefield. I think it will be quite moving."
Has he shot his most poignant scene yet? "No, not yet," he replies solemnly; it is obviously on his mind.
Saw that on facebook. "Last ever Tolkien pickups"![]()

As for eagles & Stuff like that, I'm fine with it as long as there is a chance of losing even with their help. I didn't really like how the Army of the Dead just completely ends the battle on ROTK with no real resistance. Had been amazing up to that point (still is) and I wanted them to be the element that tips the battle the right way but not totally invincible.Exactly, it even says they might lose the battle even with the Eagles showing up.
Don't worry, in the book they show up at the fight and they do help a lot, but it even says they are overwhelmd by the other armies. It's really when Beorn shows up and goes on quite the rampage.Look forward to see how this character is on film.
