:awesome: :hrt:

I have this feeling we're going to be getting a trailer soon.

I have to be honest - I don't like how Tauriel looks at all. Something about her costume, hair color, etc. looks hokey - almost like a fan costume. Can't put my finger on it but I'm not a big fan of this character design.

It's the red hair, ain't it? Gingers can't win.

It's hard out there for a ginger.

Its a pic in a magazine. It most likely isn't color timed like the film will be. In the film with proper color timing and all the polish I'm sure it will look fine.

I've got nothing against gingers, I just think something about the hair looks obviously fake.

I know it isn't a movie still, but I've liked all the other non-still character shots so far. All the costumes look wonderful, this one isn't doing it for me. There's something waaaay too stereotypical fantasy wood-elf about it - it almost feels like a self-conscious parody. Maybe its just me. That's just my immediate reaction to the pic.

The best looking bit is the quiver.

I see the same aesthetic and quality in her costume that Legolas (another Wood Elf) wore through the LOTR trilogy. Its got the same fabric, lines, design, and cultural influence. I really think it is lighting and grading causing it to look less than satisfying to you.

In the picture the green on her costume is clashing with that red hair, and then there is the loud brown boots. And it looks like a costume. This type of stuff is always fixed with some proper grading and lighting. In most of the shots like this for AUJ the actors looked like actors playing dress up. The wigs, make-up, prostetics, and costumes looked just like that, but in the film it didn't bother me.

I thought she looked better in the other photo, although it didn't show as much. I think she'll look great when we see her in live action.

Was just thinking Evangeline Lilly could be an Elf name as is.

Well the character is entirely a work of big budget fan fiction, so I guess this fits.

Yeah, the whole character has a fan-fic feel and appearance. I love Evangeline Lilly as an actress but I'm skeptical about this character, as I am about all unnecessary additions. She looks like the sort of elf who runs around collecting little gold coins in a video game. While Legolas' costume was indeed green, it also had lots of grey, silver, and black - it had that aged, mystical air that all the elves were given in the LOTR movies. I feel none of that here.

Again, these are just off-the-cuff impressions. Maybe I'll not be bothered by it in the film, but my immediate reaction to this picture is negative.

I think it's just the way the photo was shot that makes Lilly look a little cosplayish.

Though at the end of the day the important question is, as an elf, would you still hit it?

Would kick it with Evangeline Lilly a million times either way.:hrt:

Need.......a.......trailer

I'm going insane with the total lack of anything shown for this movie

I wonder how many times I will rewatch this trailer. :hehe:

just reenforces her as my pick for Jean Grey in an X-men reboot

has Jackson continued this video blogs post-release? I stopped watching back in Dec.

I hope they have it at UK IMAX showings. I see it the Saturday after next.

I'm sure the costume and Lily herself will look good in the actual film. Shooting in native 3D and 5K digital cinematography means seemingly wonkier looking designs that turns out looking good after proper color timing and 3D.
