There is a shot where legolas is loading an arrow and about to shoot it into an orcs head you can tell the trees and bushes are set but the sky and what lies beyond is greenscreen.

Yeah i noticed that shot right away that was shot on set

Everything except the sandpaper-rough CGI looks good. I love the way Smaug moves in a looming, serpentine way. Mirkwood looks better than Lothlorien did- less on-the-nose use of white light.
