Thats likely the case but sound a bit like GOT and Lannisters. I don't imagine Tolkien or Jackson would go there. However technically Isn't Aragorn a desendent of Elronds own Brother.

In the appendix, there tells the history of Galadriel and Celeborn. Celeborn is indeed Galadriel's husband for when they dwelt in Lothlorien, they neither took the title role of Queen and King.

I really don't know, but having researched the history of the two, they are not related.

Considering Gandalf is a Maiar spirit, lesser Valar, and a servant of the King Valar Manwë I cant really see Gandalf engaging in carnal relations with anyone. He comes across A-sexual to me.

I think at most it is a platonic love between two people who greatly respect and value each others wisdom and highly intellectual minds.

Or they just felt that despite being short the scenes were poorly staged and stiffly acted and kind of a crappy way to start off the film and be introduced to the new technology... Just a thought.

That's fine if people feel that way, I still think it's crying over something entirely small.

In a hour and a half movie. I wouldn't have complained about the scene but a 3 hour movie thats in dire need of some cutting, that scene needs to go. It's quite literally pointless, and to say oh its here to connect this to the other trilogy is a bad excuse. This movie doesn't need that scene to be connected. There's only one scene that was needed and that's Riddles in the Dark. Old Bilbo and Frodo was a poorly acted, awful dialogue, way too long scene in an already too long movie

I'm sure it would have been around three hours. If it had still been two movies, I'm sure that some stuff we saw in the film would have ended up on the cutting room floor. The whole Bag End sequence probably would have been trimmed down and since Azog was seemingly added in after the decision to split it into three films, we wouldn't have seen the scene with him at Weathertop and the scene with the wargs at the end would have been much shorter.

I am starting to think 3 movies is not such a bad idea. I think he is secretly is putting in stuff to make the Hobbit not just a book adaptation but to make the LOTR a more complete six movie event. This extra movie version info is more interesting really and I liked seeing Weathertop used.

Where did that secret passage into Rivendall come from and why didn't Aragorn or Arwen used it when had Frodo.

I wasn't a huge fan of this flick, I thought it was average. However, there is some good points to come away with. Freeman was fantastic as Bilbo and Gandalf is a boss the entire flick. I also thought the special effects and 3D were eye popping.

I think the Hobbit 2 will be better then one because LOTR TTT things seemed better on some things cause PJ likes a thing called reshoots and Jackson does listen to Fans still more so then Critics.
I think what was wrong with 1 can be easily fixed for 2 and 3.

Plus 2&3 will have better post-production because they already have three films in mind. Part 1 went through a major change in post-production when they decided to make three films. That probably hurt the film. Parts 2&3 shouldnt have this issue.

Just got back from watching it and let me just say that I absolutely adored it.

I might even like it more than ROTK and TT. Definitely need to see it another time to further analyze and let it sink in but all I know is that I loved everything about it in my first viewing.

I'll go into further detail on what I liked and didn't later.

Not at all. I've been wanting to see this anxiously.

I had my doubts about Jackson's implementation of CGI though and while I still would've preferred more costuming/prosthetic work for some of the Goblins it wasn't enough for it to cause damage to my level of enjoyment.

Azog was inconsistent and probably one of my least favorite in terms of CGI work and the wargs as well. That's a tiny complaint though as I pretty much loved every single other aspect of the movie.

Didn't have problems with the pacing although I did think they rushed through Riddles in the Dark a bit but nonetheless it was masterfully done regardless.

I expect a better score next time. It was underwhelming in Part 1 though what was presented on the cd was good it just didnt stand out in the film the way the scores of LOTR did. But that heroic dwarf theme im very fond of and find myself humming it a lot.

I also expect better more consistent cgi. Im particularly worried about Beorn's house. The idea of cgi animals behaving the way they do in the book is making me think of the shoddy compositing and cgi when the wargs were chasing radagast. If the cgi in Beorn's scenes is that bad it will bring down those scenes.

I hope the second one is more polish and it'll will. Also, Peter will probably look at the pacing issues and perhaps correct it with the later installments. Not drastically, but he's now conscious of it.

I sure hope the CGI is improved,I thought A LOT of it was BAD and like cut-scenes from a video game,The ending with Smaug literally made me cringe and almost facepalm!!!
