Is it just me...Or are they going with a purposely melodramatic tone with this?

Didn't like that kaiju brain clip at all. Thought Day's delivery was horrible and dinosaurs only have one brain. The fight scene however was really awesome, these things feel huge

I haven't seen the clip so I don't know the context but that whole "second brain" concept was about the stegosarus, who may well have been the dimmest dinosaur ever discovered (compared to the troodon which may have become sentient had it not died out; ignoring the Dinosauroid wackiness) and a large cluster near the tail they think was a second brain but it wasn't. It's an outdated assumption that somehow keeps persisting.

I guess in that universe dinosaurs had two brains. I mean it is a universe with kaiju so Ill cut it some slack.

Behind the Scenes Footage

I won't be watching this until I see the movie.

Clips are always weird to me. I think the beautiful, vibrant look of the film and heighten acting along with somewhat clunky, odd sounding dialogue is pure Del Toro.

A wee-bit defensive of the movie? ;)

People make all kinds of mistakes in movies and if we took them all so seriously no movie would pass muster. I don't really care whether the character or the movie universe says they had two brains. In reality it was just the one and it provides an interesting tidbit on the intelligence of dinosaurs ranging from dumb as a rock to being the next best thing to human (almost).

so it looks like the humans take inspiration for the two pilots from the kaiju. kaiju is a big monster and needs two brains. the robot is big and needs two brains-two pilots.

Maybe they're trying to hint that there is something else controlling the kaiju inside.

No its just how I rationalize these things in films. They inhabit their own universe. Take Jurassic Park for example. Those dinosaurs are complete BS, but ill go with it cause I guess that's that universe's dinosaurs. I use to be critical of these mistakes, but its si common in film that focusing on it just ruined too many films for me so I ignore it now.

Attack on Titan even.

We need the Pacific Rim version of the Attack on Titan opening.

Autonet, I could marry you.

And holy ****, the editing on that is perfect and ****ing great. It looks like the perfect anime opening except live action.

I usually dont watch clips but I broke down and watched the ones for this.
-I didnt like the Kaiju brain scene. I like Charlie Day a lot but his acting here seemed kind of off
-The elbow rocket scene was mixed. The action looked really cool but the "cmon let's do this together!" and "elbow rocket now!" was so corny

That all being said. I am still confident that I will enjoy the movie. I like GDT and Im a big fan of Idris Elba and Charlie Hunnam. I can't wait for this.

Hopefully even in the scenario that this doesnt make money, they dont stop trying to make non Transformers humongous mecha movies. The kid in me still wants to see Zoids or Power Rangers on the big screen in live action.

If this doesn't make money I can't see them making any more mecha movies in the near future. We'll just keep getting Transformer movies.

I saw Power Ranger the movie in theaters. :woot:

which is unfortunate because I think there are some good stories to tell within the subgenre.
