We have to wait and see if the general audience cares. I'm not talking about opening weekend because that ship has sailed, it's not doing great 70-80mil style numbers this weekend. Period. I'm saying that any movie has a shot at a good run. Am I expecting an amazing run? No but it could have a decent run.

I know that dude writing for Forbes and BadAss Digest think that my saying it's not going to do massive numbers is a conspiracy but I assure you all it is not.

Just got back from seeing it. Liked it, but didn't love it. I don't think I could sit through it again any time soon though. Genre fans will probably enjoy it, but I don't think it will be huge with the GA. There was about 10 people in the 6pm screening.

That is fair. I hope it catches fire do to strong WOM. But really, shouldn't those who will be seeing it this weekend already be working the WOM game?

Just back from seeing it, and well that was awesome!

I went with a friend who is a big Neon Genesis Evangelion fan and he enjoyed it immensely.

It's definitely a genre film and was alot of fun. I can't imagine many people here being disappointed. Yeah I could have done with a fight in the daytime, but I assume the nighttime fights were for budgetary reasons and making it appear as realistic as possible, which is easier to do at night with shadows.

Ron Pearlman is a badass. The two nerdy scientist guys are alot of fun. Idris Elba is great. Charlie Hunnam as well as Rinko are great. It's just alot of fun all round. Fear not people who haven't seen it!

The only annoying thing for my friend and I, was the Australians in it! We kept laughing whenever they talked. Really stereotyped accents and lines!

Guillermo del Toro has really gotta hurry up and do Hellboy 3 and Heaven Sent!

Saw it today.
A fun thrill ride where everything you'd expect going into happens. Wasn't a big fan of Charlie Hunnam at all, didn't find him very likable. Action sequences were awesome fun.
PS: GO AUSTRALIA!

4/5

Yeah I cringed at the two "Aussies", the sounded more like Cockney Brits. Is it really that hard to hire two actual Australians?

Everybody's vocals in this movie are kinda exaggerated, almost like an anime dub would be, so I suspect Del Toro was kind of going for that. No one is subtle.

@notrip_22: Good news for Pacific Rim, accounting for 60% of weekend sales according to Fandango and is outpacing WWZ. Could PR do more than 50m? maybe!

Best not to take those reports to heart. I remember Watchmen was outpacing 300 in presales. Ditto Superman Returns outdoing Spider-Man 2. We saw how that turned out. Any time I see those, it reeks of a studio trying to fight off bad press.

I guess you could say its a good thing Grown Ups 2 is being panned so far but that obviously won't keep people from seeing it this weekend.

Jamie.. Why and crush my dreams like that :( lol
And liam_H, yeah no matter how panned Grown 2 is, it's still going to make a boat load of money.

Just got back. Here's my two line review: I haven't had a movie feel me with childlike joy like that in quite a long time. Honestly, and I'm not over-exaggerating, the last time a movie made me feel so awestruck was probably Jurassic Park.

By the way, stay till the end of the credits. There's a fantastic stinger.

Seeing positive comments over and over like yours really have me excited. That's what I've been thinking this movie would be, and it sounds like it's delivering.

Considering the sheer number of big fun hits that have arrived since Summer 93 and not too long after that particular date(when we were still young).

That's quite the statement. I mean the first power rangers movie came out in 95 and not to many kids were snobs back then...
To think this is the film eh...

I'll have an idea of how well it's doing tonight. If the parking lot at my theater is really empty I'll know it's not doing well, if it's fullish It's probably doing fine. Well it's not an exact science but I knew Into Darkness was under performing when I noticed how few cars were there. I'm just taking a wait and see attitude with Rim because of how wrong the White House Down, Lone Ranger, Gatsby and WWZ tracking was. I think the fans should treat this news cautiously because it could go one way or the other.

I do hope Grown Ups 2 tanks but it's not a pre-sales kind of film so judging it's weekend based on that is tricky.

While even some of the positive reviewers admit to not really connecting with some of the characters, I still think that the relationship between Mako and Riley is really interesting. Some may feel it goes on under developed but personally it just felt unconventional and refreshing.

I though the situation between Mako and Pentecost, and really everything with the Pentecost character in general was also engaging.

Probably will go see this tomorrow. Seems to have great WOM.

Faraci is probably elated to have his quote in the imax spot.
