Wow, that sucks.I'm enjoying all of the diverse opinions and look forward to seeing the film in September.![]()
That is fair. I hope it catches fire do to strong WOM. But really, shouldn't those who will be seeing it this weekend already be working the WOM game?We have to wait and see if the general audience cares. I'm not talking about opening weekend because that ship has sailed, it's not doing great 70-80mil style numbers this weekend. Period. I'm saying that any movie has a shot at a good run. Am I expecting an amazing run? No but it could have a decent run.
I know that dude writing for Forbes and BadAss Digest think that my saying it's not going to do massive numbers is a conspiracy but I assure you all it is not.
Just back from seeing it, and well that was awesome!
I went with a friend who is a big Neon Genesis Evangelion fan and he enjoyed it immensely.
It's definitely a genre film and was alot of fun. I can't imagine many people here being disappointed. Yeah I could have done with a fight in the daytime, but I assume the nighttime fights were for budgetary reasons and making it appear as realistic as possible, which is easier to do at night with shadows.
Ron Pearlman is a badass. The two nerdy scientist guys are alot of fun. Idris Elba is great. Charlie Hunnam as well as Rinko are great. It's just alot of fun all round. Fear not people who haven't seen it!
The only annoying thing for my friend and I, was the Australians in it! We kept laughing whenever they talked. Really stereotyped accents and lines!
Guillermo del Toro has really gotta hurry up and do Hellboy 3 and Heaven Sent!
Best not to take those reports to heart. I remember Watchmen was outpacing 300 in presales. Ditto Superman Returns outdoing Spider-Man 2. We saw how that turned out. Any time I see those, it reeks of a studio trying to fight off bad press.
Just got back. Here's my two line review: I haven't had a movie feel me with childlike joy like that in quite a long time. Honestly, and I'm not over-exaggerating, the last time a movie made me feel so awestruck was probably Jurassic Park.
By the way, stay till the end of the credits. There's a fantastic stinger.
