Yeah I noticed his stupid gait. I thought that was just something that he did in SOA but apparently not. It looks ridiculous in the movie.

I noticed his walk in the movie as well....and totally didnt care. Because it's a super trivial thing and I forgot about it in like 3 minutes.

"WHERE IS MY GODDAMN SHOE?!?!?!" Best line in the movie!

Saw it. Enjoyed the hell out of it.

It would be great if this did well enough for a sequel but it doesn't need one. The story feels perfectly self contained, which I was very glad for.

Plus they have like several Jaegers of the height of the Jaeger war. There is a lot we haven't seen yet. Idblove to see stories about those years. When the world was full of 30 Jaegers. Be it in a comic book movie or freaking cartoon or whatever.

So my movie theater only has two showings for PR in 2D and two for it in 3D....is everyone else's theater the same way? How the heck's this movie supposed to make any money with barely any showings??? Even the Lone Ranger has like 7 showings a day!

Not only you. It really seems like WB just gave up on this.

Screens are added/removed based on demand. I've yet to see anyone anywhere say their theaters are sold out of PR screenings. That means WB has no reason to supply more screens. Why spend money if you're not going to make it back.

The audience clapped for him twice during the movie. I'm assuming we had a bunch of SOA fans amongst the crowd.

Same could have been said about Lone Ranger.

WB isn't Disney. Don't expect them to follow the same business model.

Disney is the first studio of the year to gross $1 billion domestically. They did that after releasing only four movies. And they have six more to go.

WB on the other hand is not having a great year so far. For a studio that is usually cautious in their intent, expect cautious action.

Perlmans popularity has isn't just because of SOA, the guy has been around for forever.

Exactly. Lone ranger bombed last weekend and my theater is still packed with LR showtimes.

But its still in it 2nd weekend that's why. Good chances a good number of those will be gone by next week.

I generally hate turning to Nikki for numbers but she's all I've got right now.

Pacific Rim tracking around mid-40s for the weekend, I would gladly take that but I highly skeptical of believing it. I mean how the heck does Despicable Me 2 get high 40s with a 51% drop this weekend.

FRIDAY 4 PM, 5TH UPDATE WRITETHRU: It’s shaping up as a very strong domestic box office weekend with Summer 2013 continuing to sizzle. My sources say that, based on matinee trends, Universal’s and Illumination Entertainment’s holdover Despicable Me 2 should be #1 again this weekend with high $40sM and only a -51% drop from last weekend. But Pacific Rim (3,275 theaters and 331 IMAX screens) keeps surging and looks right now like mid $40sM. That’s including Thursday late shows and Friday midnights which Warner Bros says the Legendary picture overperformed with $3.6M. I’ve learned the 3D ratio is a strong 52% “and the largest ratio of a wide release for a very long time” according to an exec. And finally Sony Pictures/Happy Madison’s Growns-Ups 2 (3,491 theaters)also started with bigger than expected $2.3M late shows even though it’s a PG-13 family, non-fanboy, non-IMAX movie. Now it’s shaping up as low $40sM, which would beat the 2010 first installment’s $40.5M opening weekend. According to the latest Rotten Tomatoes scores, it’s not even a close contest between the mecha anime inspired thriller and the Adam Sandler ensemble sequel: Pacific Rim has 72% positive reviews while Grown-Ups 2 an astoundingly awful 5%. (Ouch!) As of 9:00 AM PT this morning on Fandango, the three top films were selling neck and neck online and through mobile: 31% for Pacific Rim, 30% for Despicable Me 2, and 28% for Grown-Ups 2.

Saw it today in IMAX 3D. I would give it a 7/10. Moe enjoyable that Transformers, and the 3D was quite good due to the human-point-of-view shots, but the action was bad. Every battle scene was in the dark, with lots of water and rain. Most of the time you couldn't see what's happening.

His popularity comes from SOA and Hellboy. I'd like to think everyone wants a Hellboy 3 like I do, but that's probably wishful thinking on my part.

Every women in my family knows Ron Perlman as Vincent from Beauty and the Beast. They have all had crushes on him for over 20 years. My mother started watching SOA because of Perlman.
