The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Paul Giamatti IS Rhino - Part 2

Rhino holding his own against the Hulk is nothing but plot induced stupidity. Rhino is a class 60-70 at most. Hulk is class 100+

It's sad knowing from now on, anything robotic is considering "ugly and borderline ridiculous" because Transformers did it first? Transformers made a ton of money, so let's copy their robotic CGI and hopefully ours will make a billion also? :whatever: Yeah, I bet that's EXACTLY what they were thinking at Sony...

People are dying to hate this movie and its characters any way possible. We've literally seen 10 seconds or less of Rhino and it's already a target. People are going to pull something with all that reaching... It's laughable. :hehe:

Yeah and there are double standards too

Nobody complained when the whole of final battle in IM3 was a robotic fest but when there is a RHINO cameo in TASM3 for maybe 1-2 minutes at the most, they are copying the transformers!!

You can't really compare the Iron Man suits to Transformers, come on.

But then comparing this Rhino to Transformers is also stupid. Transformers don't have a monopoly on mechs and giant robots.

Fair enough

But a mechanical RHINO isnt something new,he has been done in the comics already, next people will say Gwen's death is copying TDK

A cross species RHINO especially after the Lizard would be too repeatitive, plus a guy in Rubber Rhino suit is too ridiculous to be on the big screen

IMO they did the right decision with going with a mechanical RHINO

And Does it really matter? Its a cameo

So people want Giamatti in a grey organic rhino suit running through the city... That would have been terrible lol. People hated the Lizard, and they want them to do it all over again.

I think in order to get a classic Rhino put on film, you would need an actor who is over 7 feet tall and bulky. Even then, it would just look too silly. Mech is the way to go. The only other option is by doing a cross-species version of the character, but then we would have too many cross-species villains IMO.

people hated Lizard design as they needed go different route with more animal then human Lizard. But TASM's tone was suiting for Lizard with so many night scenes, TASM2 with bright and vibrant colors for organic grey Rhino not so much

Even Marc didn't spend much time explaining why he went the "robotic" way. He didn't even give the organic idea the time of day, explaining it like it was the only way to do it. Which he's right about, and I'm glad they stuck to that!

I'm trying to picture a classic version of Rhino on screen, and it just doesn't work. Mech suit is the best option.

The thing with the Mech suit is that it provide a level of dimension to the character. We get to experience the human side of the character when at the end of the day, he can climb out of the Mech...he can't do that with permanent hide bonded to his body. Also, Rhino is now, not just a simple, charging, battering ram...he has weapons at his disposal. Small arms fire and machine guns, grenades launchers, small rockets, smoke canisters, as well as, being a simple, charging, battering ram, with armor(steel hide if you will).

Yes, he's now no different from the Iron Monger, Crimson Dynamo, the Beatle, any of the Spider-Slayers, etc; but, it does give him more layers of dimension to his character....and that is always a good thing.

This. This. AND THIS. :D

Yeah,It would have been better to do a cross species Rhino, especially since they had just done a cross species villain in the first movie

Sure, for the sake of consistency..but think of it. Now the mech widens Spidey's villain variety.

Having two cross-species villains in a row would be repetitive. Also, Rhino isn't from Oscorp, so why would he be cross-species anyway?

I was being sarcastic

People hated the Lizard,I hope there isnt another Cross-species in the coming 2 movies either

Your sarcasm didn't translate in the text, bud. No worries though.

Well I think the closest we'll get to another cross-species villain is the Green Goblin (both Harry and Norman). They do mutate, but not in the same way as Lizard. At least, I can assume that about Norman.

Yeah, Hulk would pulverize Rhino. Hulk vs. The Thing though... I'd love to see that cinematically one day. Same with Hulk vs. Wolverine.

Mech Rhino looks awesome.

One of the best things in this movie from what I've seen so far.

How do we know this isnt Pre-Rhino? Maybe in the next film he will be given a suit based on his performance in the suit and hate for Spidey that will be more streamlined and form fitting - but still gives him the height and bulk needed?

Well I believe Marc said that his TASM2 suit is something he sort of just threw together, and considering it'll probably get destroyed by the end of this movie, we might see a redesign for TASM3.

Anything is possible, sure. Though I don't think it'll happen.

The possible suit upgrade for TASM3 could be gnarly. A bit more stylistic. Still not leaning on the fact that there may be one though.
