The Dark Knight Pierce In/Screiber Out? BOF Report

I completely thought they meant Brosnan by the title.
Me too, and I actually think that would be really cool.

Pierce is one of the few people that could get the role over Schreiber and not make me upset. Aside from Pierce, there's not a single other "fan favorite" I'd like in the role. Gyllenhaal, Phillipe, Phoenix, Owen, none of them strike me as being right for both Dent AND Two-Face.

Maybe Owen if his voice wasn't so... i dont know how to describe it... overdramatic? I liked him in Sin City, cuz his voice fit the kind of surreal, comic-book world, but i dont think it would fit in Batman Begins (yes i know it's a movie based on a comic book, but the style of the film is nothing like Sin City). I also saw his brief cameo in The Pink Panther where he had the same, overdramatic voice (he played a James Bond-like character, so it also fit). Haven't seen Inside Man yet, though the DVD is sitting on the desk in front of me. I'll probably post again after watching it if my opinion of him changes. But as of now, unless he can lose that voice, I cant see him as Dent.

So for me, it's either gotta be Pierce, Schreiber, or another surprise like Ledger who I haven't even thought of.
Good call on all accounts. I used to like Owen but he's just got to much Nick Cage in him. I pretty happy if GP is back in the running. He's always been my favorite.

I like Schreiber but I think Pierce would be a fine choice too. Actually he has been rumored for the part for a long time.

BOF will keep this Pearce junk running for as long as they can.

I'm calling BS on this one. In all honesty, I don't think anyone mentioned thus far is in the mix. If you read the Lachy Hulme interview, you'd see that Chris Nolan already had someone in mind for the Joker, and that Lachy Hulme never even screentested or talked to anyone about the role.

Alright dude, you know I’ve got to ask you about this -- What’s the deal with The Joker and how in the hell did you get in the mix for the part?

LH: You guys, that’s how. Your website, man. The first I heard of it, someone rang me to say that they’d heard on the radio that I actually had the part, and this was before BATMAN BEGINS had even come out, so this was early 2005. And on the radio, they were apparently quoting from your site, so there you have it. Of course, I had to explain to my family that I wasn’t playing the part, but from that moment on, the media have been chasing me around asking for a quote, which I couldn’t give. But every other weekend down here, there would be some blurb or column in the papers talking about how I was the “front-runner” or some ****. Thank God Heath got the gig, ‘cause now the press can all **** off. But the Internet speculation has been extraordinary. Unbelievable!

Now I never reported it, but there was talk that you met with Chris Nolan. True?

LH Never. Although, according to the Internet, not only have I met him, we’re now part owners in a racehorse together.

This goes right along with everything that I've been saying as of late. That BOF is just stirring up rumors. Jett was having us believe that Hulme was actually IN TALKS and in the running, when in fact, Nolan had Ledger in mind the entire time. And I think Nolan has his own person in mind for the part of Harvey Dent, as well. I'm willing to bet from the things that both Schreiber and Pearce have been saying that it isn't either one of them. I wouldn't be surprised if Philippe had nothing to do with it, either.

These are all just rumors that are, unfortunately, given more credibility because BOF is posting it. If Jett keeps posting news like this on his page they won't have much credibility left!

Well it's now known that Hulme wasn't even in the running for Joker (straight from the words of Hulme). It might be the same for Schreiber, who knows? :o

Shreiber out? Well, for me it isn't so bad news. He would be good choice, but not the best one.

Pierce rumors going to real? That's awesome, I loved Memento Guy is very good actor, so he would be excellent choice.

Phillipe rumours going to real? Not the best choice, but he could pull it off.

DING, DING, DING!!! We have a winner...

I wouldn't buy his story details either at this point... so start to get used to Penguin not being in the movie at all...

Screw Schreiber. If this turns out to be true, I will be hysterical beyond words.

I'm serious. I will completely launch into "Psycho Kermit" mode.

Same here. It would be so nice if this wasn't just a rumor.

The guy was in The Time Machine, for ****'s sake. Get Nolan to talk to him, write the check, and he'll do it.

Schreiber was the equivalent of Bettany and Pierce the equivalent of Hulme and look what happened... a complete curveball... neither of them will snag this role guys... Nolan is gonna go young like he always goes with the core characters... (Morgan/Fox and Caine/Alfred the exceptions)... Phillipe would make sense but is Nolan really that enamored by his work? Then again what has Ledger done really... Phillippe fits the bill and expect something along those lines... ofcourse we don't know but the Schreiber/Pierce chants are getting kinda silly now with one rumor after another...
