Pokemon: The Original Series Talk

Yeah, it's only a special episode like an OVA like you guys said. I don't know what it is with OVAs and animated shorts, but I always seem to love the. e.g. B/W 2, Green Lantern, etc.

I'll give you that B/W was weak in some areas but it was strong in others.

Also Kyurem was in the movie for the region so there's that. I didn't mind what they did with Reshiram.

Will definitely watch origins if it comes to the US.

I meant in regarding to the anime series, not the films, itself.

At least the Diamond and Pearl series incorporated most of the Game's arc into the anime, with Cyrus having gone after the two legendary pokemon in order to gain control over time and space.

There's no denying that the games present more menacing and threatening villains at times than the anime does.

Especially with Team Rocket, though I guess them being given Giovanni's gym was an attempt to make up for that. Having the trainer feel whatever pain the pokemon feel is brutal if you think about it.

herolee: you have to realize that B/W and B/W 2 came out during the anime, it wasn't like with Platinum or the other colors where it didn't affect the story too much (in that it just made it's way into the movie) it totally altered the story as it took place 2 years after the original. They did their best to incorporate both stories in a fun and interesting way.

I don't know about your last statement, Mewtwo vs. Gary was pretty menacing.

I hope Kalos season actually improves on the series as opposed to feeling like a retread, even though I liked this season quite a lot. The bad guys this time around don't need to have some grand plan of conquering the world, they can be smaller-scale and formidable.

Well, I'm not saying that Team Rocket wasn't menacing at times, but the anime didn't really do a great job in balancing their comedic and serious stuff with them at times.

Overall, I just want to see another season where we have a consistent villainous presence from the main evil organization for that specific region, one that's willing to go as far as Pokemon Hunter J went in injuring both people and pokemon in order to achieve their goals.

Also, I'd like to see Ash use more of his pokemon when fighting against these villains rather than using Pikachu the most in these situations, and for once, I'd like to see Ash win the BIG league.

herolee: I'll give you that. Team Rocket doesn't seem too menacing at times and when they do it's only for one episode.

Hopefully in the X/Y region they'll have an epic threat to deal with.

Ash should use more of his Pokémon, in the battle with Plasma Charizard was used a lot before he had to recall him else have him mind controlled.

Indeed; which is why I wish the writers would be more consistent in portraying on Ash's willingness to use some of the pokemon (powerful ones I might add) that he has back at Professor Oak's laboratory. I mean in the Hoen region, he didn't want to use any of his pokemon that he caught from the Kanto and Johto region, but then he goes on to use his past pokemon in the Sinnoh region.

However, when it comes to his battles in the Unova region, from what I've been told, he didn't use any of his pokemon from the past again, which under those conditions, I felt he could have won the league if he had used the likes of Charizard and Infernape to help him out.

I'm kind of skeptical that he'll have a big threat to deal with in the Kalos region, namely because of how the new region's villainous team is said to be one that only cares about making money as opposed to ruling the region/world like Plasma and Galactic did.

Here's a twist - Team Flare's money making schemes enrage one of our new legendaries. Instead of an outright villainous team, we've got wild pokemon posing as the villains. Attacking people because of Team Flare.

MWA: That's a twist indeed. Interesting to see how it plays out.

herolee: I have to stop you there. Ash is trying to be purist when he goes through the leagues. Starting in Hoenn he wanted to use only the Pokémon he caught from the region to show his skills and ability to adapt and NOT rely on his other Pokémon. Sinnoh was an exception cause the battle before he lost (to the legend trainer as I call him) he had that epic battle with Paul in which he only used his region Pokémon. And then in Unova he stuck with his region Pokémon.

We'll just have to see what happens in the X/Y series. I'll tell you though I'm still going to watch.

Let me stop yall - that about Team Flair was conjecture on my part. I was trying to figure out how they could pose a threat to the player in X/Y.

MWA: Oh....ok I thought you were reading from something there. I like it though as that would be something different. Keep us posted on what you find out.

I was browsing Serebii, and it seems the last episode in the BW series will involve Zekrom.

Any idea whether or not Ash is taking his little friends from the current region into Kalos?

Or is he getting new friends...again. :hehe:

MWA: Cool! Glad we're getting Zekrom again, that's truly bringing it full circle from the beginning.

Craigdbfan: I'm not sure, they're going to Kanto together that's for sure but going to Kalos....no idea.

I've a feeling that he's gonna start fresh in Kalos and just keep his pal Pikachu.

I'm fine with that, I like the idea of getting to know the new Pokémon, it let's them grow without the shadow of the experienced Pokémon Ash has.

I feel like Iris was the writers' way of making up for Misty.

In what way MWA? As in they wanted to have another Misty in the show and made Iris? If that's the case then....fail. I don't find them similar in many ways outside of the love of a specific type of Pokémon.

If you mean something else please explain.

Love of a specific type of pokemon. It seems like Iris got more development as a trainer working toward mastery of dragon types than Misty as a water master.

Fair. I think both got a good development, Misty got more Water Pokémon as she went on (Togepit obviously not included) and Iris honestly only has three Pokémon, Axew, Dragonite, and Excadrill so she has a little more to go.

So now that they're heading back to Kanto, I suppose there'll be Brock and stuff.
