Action-Adventure Power Rangers 4.0 - Part 2

So has Hasbro lost interest with Power Rangers and do they want to offload the IP? Because it kind of feels that way right now.

I don't think they are considering selling it off. But, they are pretty much stopping Power Ranger stuff till someone convinces them otherwise.

They definitely want the IP since they excluded it from their big sale but.....they no longer care about the ip lol. Such a waste. Boom is the only thing keeping PR alive and semi relevant

MMPR is my favorite of the shows. Out of the characters who's actors are still alive, Kimberly never made a regular appearance past Turbo: A Power Rangers movie. Jason appeared in Beast Morphers, Tommy, Kat and Rocky appeared in Ninja Steel and Billy, Zack, Adam and Aisha returned in Once and Always.

Also, I am still going with the theory that Aisha last morphed into a Power Ranger in the final episode of Season Three of MMPR.

Talking about the newer MMPR rangers specifically...one thing I've never gotten is that, outside of Forever Red for obvious reasons, and Tommy using the form with his Master Morpher, we haven't seen anyone use their Zeo powers.

Like, on Dimensions in Danger, there was no reason for Kat to go Turbo Pink. More so since she'd passed those powers to Cassie. Sure, Cassie went on to become the Pink Space Ranger, but did we need to have both Kat and Rocky ignore their Zeo powers? I just never got that. Part of that is just because I love Zeo and wish it got more representation since we've seen those Rangers return.

I don't mind Rocky going Mighty Morphin' Red since Steve Cardenas didn't get to be in Forever Red, but he equally could've been the Blue Zeo Ranger.

For some reason they really just want to keep Zeo on a permanent "TBC" with no one wanting to wrap up that season & powers. And poor Tanya...the only Zordon era Ranger to have never been invited back

My event with Christina and Ciara from Megaforce went REALLY well. They are so sweet. Both have donated signed pictures to my nonprofit, which is pretty rad. We tend to keep in touch, so I'm sure we'll be working together again.

30th anniversary and barely any fanfare from Hasbro at all. Disappointing.

Wouldn't surprise me if the new people in charge of Hasbro want to get out of the content business and start making mobile apps.

They made that pretty clear when they sold E-One. They are keeping some stuff to make media for, but they are pretty much sticking to kids cartoons for the foreseeable future.

Power Rangers, for the foreseeable future, is dead.

Isn't Hasbro focused on Transformers and GI Joe as film franchises?

I mean the only GI Joe thing we got in the last 10 years was Snake Eyes, which flopped. The Lady Jaye TV show never got made.

Today marks the 50th Birthday of JDF artist Carols Dattoli did a commission for Bat in the Sun to celebrate the dearly departed.

King Ohger now already moved into the 2nd chapter with a 2 years time gap in the story, (Kyouryu Red from Kyouryuuger will also appear) starting with episode 26. (I cant believe its been already half the way..haha)

I don't remember when's the last time a Super Sentai series had a de facto 2nd season but still within a season. The cast slightly has a different looks on them. And Himeno is still my favorite!

And at the same time Kamen Rider Geats ended its broadcast at August 27th...and already succeeded by Kamen Rider Gatchard from last Sunday.
I already missed Geats very much...it will be surreal not to hear the opening song every sunday morning now...haha. this is the show that I will frequently rewatch on Bluray.

Himeno/Kamakiri Ohger (Yellow Ranger) and Rita/ Papiilon Ohger (Purple Ranger) with Tsumuri and Yuna/Kamen Rider Nago (from KR Geats)

Pretty good interview with EP SImon Bennet

“Once and Always came about in early 2022, after David had pitched his own idea for an MMPR reunion series to Hasbro execs (Quantum Continuum). They couldn’t commit to this for various political, budgetary and legal reasons - but did embrace the idea of a one-off special for the 30th anniversary year. Hence Once and Always.”

“People within Hasbro found the Sentai-based style of Power Rangers to be too cheesy and corny for modern US sensibilities. There was a genuine desire within Hasbro to make Power Rangers work for a much broader audience, and the general feeling was that the traditional show was too niche. By moving away from the Sentai performance style and look, and towards something that was perceived as more American, it was hoped to give the show broader appeal. They looked at other contemporary kids' live-action content, and quite correctly, in my opinion, saw them as being more sophisticated in their visual language.”

“From a toy manufacturing perspective, some of the Sentai designs would be difficult to produce, and it was felt, have limited appeal to US audiences. Remember, the adult collector market is a small part of the overall toy sales, and not the target audience of the show. Hasbro Brand wanted creative ownership of the designs, rather than having to go with designs that were adopted from elsewhere. There was a lot of Brand and Toy input into the Cosmic Fury designs. They weren’t attempting to be like the Sentai designs, but to be something quite different, that would be easy to manufacture, for US kids. The inclusion of the MMPR lightning bolt logo on all the suits and props is an example of the Brand wanting to apply consistency across the range.”

“This came from me, and writers Becca and Alwyn. We’ve always been keen to aspire to inclusivity. I’m delighted we’ve got a Ranger team in Cosmic Fury that is 50/50 male/female. I believe there’s a girls’ audience as well as boys for the show. Hasbro and Netflix, to their credit, supported us in this.”

“Hasbro’s main interest was always in the Young Adult Jonathan Entwhistle series that had been in development since late 2019 or early 2020. This was intended to be a hard reboot, more sophisticated, aimed at an older audience, without any dependency on Sentai or established canon. However, development seemed to be going very slowly. I don’t think Dino Fury season 2, or Cosmic Fury would have happened if it had been ready. These were stop-gap seasons intended to keep the show ticking over and supporting toy sales in the meantime. When development resumes on the Entwhistle project after the Hollywood strikes finish, I wouldn’t expect to see it going into Production until late 2024 at the earliest - so on-air sometime in 2025.”
