RoboCop Reboot - Part 7

Felt the same way about Ninja Turtles, wasnt as horrible as people made it out to be but wasnt very memorable either

The studio that made the film releasing a statement that they are already working on a sequel doesnt mean much?

I never saw a statment from Sony or whoever made the reboot.

In any case, sequels are announced or said to be in the works that never come into fruition. Tron 3 is a recent one, A Roger Rabbit sequel is another one, Eastern Promises is another. A huge glaring example would be the sequel to that YA novel adaptation The Mortal Instrument. That was ready to go and everything... never came out

It's not like a Robocop reboot has a release date or whatever.

If they make another sequel, cool. Im just not holding my breath

Yeah, TMNT found a strong demo with kids once again though. So it's in a solid spot. This will be their main TMNT movie as they grow up. It gains even more popularity through the cartoons and toys.

Robocops audience is still comparing and didn't really grab a younger audience. There were more Robocop toys for kids even though it was R when I was growing up. Since this one was watered down, that did not help with the adult wom. It's audience was just too mixed and negative overall. They needed to do something for it to stand out more one way or another. Kids didn't care and Adults wanted the gory and harsh feel of the original.

I just saw Turtles. I like the Turtles. They were pretty good. The film is awful though. Like really, really awful.

On TMNT: I never got the whole "Well kids love it"

I mean i guess they did which kind of confuses me. There are a bunch of movies that do what Ninja Turtles set out to do but better. I dont get how kids were really excited or impressed by Ninja Turtles

Simply because it's Ninja Turtles?

Kids love that show (and the brand in general), so it's no surprise that they'd flock to see the movie.

Just saw it for the first time since I bought for BF when it was like 4.99. It is very forgettable, I already forgot most of it since it seemed like nothing really happened.

I love both the original Robocop and TMNT , but both franchises needed a reboot. The new films don't match the original but I think the sequels would have a better chance of pleasing fans since they won't be focused on recreating origins. It's why I also wanted to see a sequel to Nightmare on Elm st.

That's the main problem. It's not horrible , but doesn't stand out on its own.

I like the style they used for the news anchor here, and the news being part of the story.
News in the original were fun, but they were distractions, and hardly anything to do with the story.

I found the opposite, my nephew is INSANE about TMNT. He has everything their face is plastered on and wears out every DVD I buy him, this is all based on the new Nick show.

I took him to see the new movie and he barely payed attention, he likes the cartoon thats bright and cheerful but this new movie was dark and didnt resemble the show at all nor did the turtles look like the turtles he knew.

The one scene where they show Murphy what was left of him was the only thing that stuck with me

I thought that was the best scene of the film dr.doom. It was genuinely creepy.

Didn't they already confirm a sequel ?

They always announce "the sequel" before the film comes out. Remember our John Carter trilogy we'll never get or the sequel to Chris Pine's Jack Ryan? There won't be a sequel to this RoboCop.

I thought that, the opening and the ending were all really good. Some of whats in between was good as well. But the action other than the beginnning and the end should have been a bit better and more inventive. Plus it needed a really good gangster bad guy like Boddicker.

This was pretty entertaining, more than I expected. Not as a scratch on the original, but it was solid.

Watched this again, I thought I would enjoy it less with the passage of time but I still really like it and think it's a really good re-make, I would love to see a sequel.

When I saw it it made me think of Metal Gear solid. Then I was just wishing they had made a metal gear movie and not rebooted Robocop.

I enjoy the re-boot a lot but I think a sequel has a lot of potential, especially with Padilha at the helm. I doubt they would straight up remake RoboCop 2 and would do their own thing, I would love to see it made but that's very doubtful by the looks of things.

I still haven't seen this RoboCop remake but I'm a big fan of the original. Robocop 2 and 3 are guilty pleasures of mine though.

I remember watching this mini-series called "Prime Directives" and wanted to vomit. So horrible. Then there were a couple of animated series and a live-action show. Am I missing something else?

Anyways--where does the reboot rank with the rest of the different incarnations of the character?

For me its the 2nd best RoboCop movie behind the original, and I say that as a fan of RoboCop 2. Just don't expect the violence of the original or its sequel. But its well worth a watch.

Shame they dropped the ball with this. It had so much potential, but that's what happens when people in charge forget the very essence of what made the character so great: his struggle with his humanity.
