1) SOTL is a "modern-day" classic thriller - period. It was also aimed at a more "adult" audience

2) Jodie Foster played the role perfectly (Clarice Starling - is not even an agent yet so she shouldn't be too perfect) Hence, Best Actress in a Leading Role for Jodie Foster

1) you missed my point,Seven is a modern classic also, just a better one IMO obviously not yours but thats fine.As far as audience goes the same goes for Seven,it was hardly for disney viewers

2)Best Actress ? you say that like it means something,Halle Berry anyone ?or how about Nicole Kidman and the prosthetic pecker ? Or Gwynnie and her weak ass shakspeare performance ? ,politics decide oscars not acting and her accent slipped continuosly, hardly top draw
i notice you couldn't explain away the campness of Lecter or for that matter that your thriller aimed at an "adult audience" had stupid skin suit nonsense that wouldve fit better in the silly freddy krueger movies

Halle Berry was fantastic in Monster's Ball...Nicole Kidman was also great in The Hours (perhaps both of these films were too "adult" for you). BTW, "adult" means far more than lots of violence...As for you ragging on Gwynnie, isn't she in SE7EVN? Or did you forget that? If you are going to make fun of an actress make sure she isn't in the movie you are trying to hype - just an FYI there Sherlock.

Oh, at rottentomatoes, SE7EN - very nice 84% positive - As for SOTL 97% positive.

Please, SE7EN is only a classic for young boys with ADD who couldn't tell the difference between The Boondock Saints and Pulp Fiction.

Stupid skin nonsense? Stupid Seven Deadly Sins nonsense - PURE GIMMICK - SE7EN was a total gimmick thriller - plain and simple.

As for the Academy Awards, they are not perfect, but when a movie sweeps all these categories, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Actress in a Leading Role, Best Director, Best Picture, & Best Writing, Screenplay Based on Material from Another Medium it does say a lot. (Granted 1992 wasn't the stringest year, but please you simply can't compare SE7EN with SOTL and not be ignorant young boy between the ages of 13 and 29 who probabvly also once thought you could compare Oasis with The Beatles).

Let me guess, you are also one of the people who think that American History X is anything more than a decent after school special with a lead actor who gets insane credit from fanboys because he took a cycle of roids to get ready for the part.

Lol, I love it when hot-headed elitists lord their own "maturity" over others in an entirely CHILDISH way. Just hilarious.

You know, differing tastes factor into this, and you are just making some laughable generalizations. I guess it's kind of amusing though.
Here we go.
1) Halle sucked ASS in Monster's Ball. It was almost as unwatchable as her Oscar acceptance speech. Glamorous women straining to look frumpy, unkempt and plain does not equal "good-acting"

2) I do agree with you about Kidman in The Hours. Too bad Phillip Glass ruined what could've been an incredible movie.

3) A Rottentomatoes rating has nothing to do with the artistic merit of a film. I pray you know that.

4) "classic" means of lasting historical or artistic significance or worth. Sure Se7en is a "classic" for some. Your assertion that "ONLY" kids with ADD would think so is ****ing offensive.

5) The "Seven Deadly Sins"-thing Was SUPPOSED to be a Gimmick. It was the Murderer's GIMMICK, his malevolent artistic expression. If you don't think there's a precedent for such things read up on a few murderers like the Zodiac Killer.

6) I'm 33, I wish Oasis would go down in a burning plane crash over shark-infested waters, I love the Beatles, I love Silence of the Lambs, I love Se7en and you are posting like a jackass.

p.s. I'm also curious as to how you can just ignore the fact that Jodie Foster gave one of the most squirm-inducingly bad performances of a southern(ish) accent ever committed to celluloid in SotL? It really is so bad that it was almost a deal-breaker for me, but I am admittedly picky about accents.

Oh please back in your box boy:rolleyes:
adult means intelligently written and with content that befits a more mature audience
"Halle was fantastic in monsters ball" that statement alone should ivalidate you but i'll persevere, she was not wonderful in that movie by any stretch of your obviously active imagination
as for Gwyinnie that point is beyond ignorant on your part, yes she didn't deserve the oscar but how on earth that has anything to do with a small support role in another film is only known to you as the rest of us realise there is no link

Oh, at rottentomatoes, SE7EN - very nice 84% positive - As for SOTL 97% positive.
Critics scores have no bearing on quality unless of course your a sheep who likes to be told what is and isnt good

Please, SE7EN is only a classic for young boys with ADD who couldn't tell the difference between The Boondock Saints and Pulp Fiction.

Pure Ignorance but i believe Willhelm schooled you already

Stupid skin nonsense? Stupid Seven Deadly Sins nonsense - PURE GIMMICK - SE7EN was a total gimmick thriller - plain and simple.

LMAO please the 7 deadly sins are of biblical signifigance ,they were an intelligent idea for which a serial killer could structure his killing pattern around
Unlike a guy making a woman suit that is pure B-movie horror plain and simple

Ive never seen American History X but if you think it's overrated im guessing it's good

1) Halle's acceptance speach has NOTHING to do with her performance which was excellent

2) You agreed

3) When 97% of the critics out there gave a positve review of a film it CERTAINLY does have something to do with the merit of said film (Come on, you simply can't argue this point- you can't)

4) Be offeneded by this, but SE7EN is ONLY a classic to boys or "men who are still boys"

5) I know all about serial murderers...when I say GIMMICK, I am saying that the film was NOTHING more than the killer's GIMMICK...it was predictable, not well acted and horribly edited.

6) Nothing to respond to here

First of all, Jodie Foster WASN'T giving a SOUTHERN accent...I have been living in Atlanta for the past 5 years and when I talk to the Locals, I hear Southern Accents. Jodie Foster was using a very good "hidden" WEST VIRGINIA accent which if you have ever been to that State you would know differs greatly from a "Southern Accent". Also, if you loved the film as you propose, you would have paid attention to Clarice's first encounter with Lector where he comes right out and states, "good nutrition's given you some length of bone, but you're not more than one generation from poor white trash, are you, Agent Starling? And that accent you've tried so desperately to shed - pure West Virginia" DUMMY, the accent is SUPPOSED to waiver throughout the film or was that TOO SUBTLE for your ADD-SE7EN loving brain to comprehend or do you still think she should have sounded like Scarlett O'Hara  . So, save it pal, because you have just been schooled!

Strip the GIMMICK of the seven deadly sins from SE7EN and what do have? A typical cop movie with the aging detective and the new guy that is plodding, predictable and not really all that thrilling unless you consider the gross-out murders thrilling. Where was the supsense? Where were the thrills? Please, Fincher has made one classic movie and it is FIGHT CLUB. SE7EN is standard fare with a "cool" gimmick for the murders and a pretty good performance by Kevin Spacey - nothing more.

This is worth repeating because for someone who is "admittedly picky about accents" you really should have paid more attention to the line ""good nutrition's given you some length of bone, but you're not more than one generation from poor white trash, are you, Agent Starling? And that accent you've tried so desperately to shed - pure West Virginia". She hasn't fully shed the accent, so it shouldn't be a perfect accent as it should sound like a girl from West Virginia who is trying to hide her accent. When a dilettante such as yourself makes such a remark I know that you are lost.

Silence of the Lambs is good, but nowhere near the masterpiece it's made out to be. SEVEN is rightfully a modern classic. It's brilliant in every single way.

Look, the "silly skin" thing is a frightening concept. It's an actual psychological sickness that has been commited by actual human beings. It's sick, wrong, and disgusting. I'm not saying that the Seven Deadly Sins thing was bad, but saying Buffalo Bills MO is "silly" is just plain ignorant. I suggest you read the book.

I don't need to read the book to know that a guy making a "woman suit" is silly,it's like something outve a horror B-movie.Unless of course you can show me a real life example of a serial killer making a woman suit ?

after reading this,i looked him up and i stand corrected:)
according to what i read he made many things outve skin:( ,it never said though that he intended to try and become a woman by wearing a skin suit though,i think the skin suit he made was just a suit as opposed to a "woman suit"

I don't believe that "consensus reality" is "reality". If you polled WWII-era Germans and asked them if Jews are inferior, "98%" of them would say "Yes, they're filthy, sub-human animals." Yes, I'm afraid I CAN argue that point. Predator 2 is almost universally reviled. I think it's one of the best films ever made. And I am "right". Everyone else is "wrong". 90 Billion critics could tell me that it sucked. It would have absolutely no bearing on my enjoyment of, or admiration for the movie.

Again, an incredibly stupid thing to say. Why not say that all Black men have huge *****, or that all women are bad drivers. Making generalizations like this proves that you've got serious mental problems and an irrational...hatred for the movie and for yourself.

Please go meet Morgan Freeman and Kevin Spacey and tell them to their face that they didn't "act well" in Se7en. I hope they slap you like the little narrow-minded ***** that you are.

Um, again, you're making a fool of yourself by making assumptions.

I love SotL and one of the little details that I've always liked was the way that HL tries to belittle her with the comment about her inability to "shed" her accent. I'm fully aware of the fact that she was trying to "shed" it. I still think Jodie Foster did a bad job of portraying a character who's trying to "shed" her accent. You simply can not prove me wrong on that. It is my OPINION. It differs from yours, but that doesn't invalidate it.

Why are you coloring all people who prefer Se7en as "dummies", "immature people" and "people with ADD"?
confused.gif

You're, just really being childish. You can easily enumerate the reasons that you think SotL is a better film without getting personal and insulting. Yes, You suck ass.

And p.s. NOFX? Wrong. Reggie's pwned himself.
