Sequels Spider-Man 4 Writer Hired

Nice choice of writer.

After the big disappointment that was Spider-Man 3, 2009 sounds good to me for Spider-Man 4.

Never heard of him before, but sounds like everyones saying he's good so I'm assuming this is good. And 2009? Yipee I say. Less than two years for the sequel.

Awesome news!!! Great writer for Spidey4! 2009 sounds like an aweosem release date IMO. :spidey::up:

This is excellent news, I can't wait! 2009 is to early? Do you want SM-4 to be released in 2020?

Amen. Nothin but a buncha whiners around here. 2009 too early? If Harry Potter films can come out every year and half and they have high production value I don't know if you noticed, then Spider-Man films can be the same way.

Geesh

I think you would only be happy if there was a tentacle on every villian in every spider-man film.

I think the 'big" dissapointment of Spider-Man 3 was this: For the huge character that Venom is, his presence was sorely missed as a MAJOR MAIN VILLIAN. I just watched the film, it's not bad, it's the way Venom is felt that makes Spider-Man fans, feel, well, kinda robbed.

There's your dissapointment. It's like seeing Doomsday in a Superman movie for the last 15 minutes.

I can't wait for the new lizard toys( I hope)
I've always thought that Lizard would appear in SM4, it just seems like the right number to me. Since Conners has had two films of development and background and I think the veiwers know him enough now for him to turn Lizard on us.

hm, I've heard nothing but bad things about zodiac, and I really thought darkness falls was a crappy movie...This guy isn't looking so great to me right now.

I agree if any villian deserves to be in the fourth film its definitely Lizard.

Yeah Just watched SM3 today on DVD. It's a better film than SM1 but sort of on par with SM2. The movie's freaking entertaining! But SM3 really doesnt feel like it completed all loose ends. We really need a SM4.

That's why I don't take what you think seriously.

Willem Dafoe's Green Goblin had no tentacle on him, except hidden between his legs, and I loved him and Spider-Man 1.

Cry me a river.

Venom is a one trick pony. He gets a grudge against Spidey, and tries to kill him for it. You got that in Spider-Man 3.

There's your dissapointment.

No, there's your dissappointment. Lack of Venom was a plus for me.

venom is an awesome character . they used him too soon , he should of been part of a cliffhanger. i dont know its a good thing they are setting a release date for 2009 and dont have any of the team signed on.

No, there's a majority of a lot of Spider-Man fans dissapointment. You're the exception with actually liking the lack of screen time.

Thanks for playing though.

The fact that Vanderbilt is on this film and Wolverine is a very good sign that Spider-Man 4 can be very good, considering he did do Zodiac. The big things going against him is the WGA strike, the black marks on his resume (Darkness Falls, The Rundown anyone?) and how much the studio/Marvel will interfere with the storyline.

But wasn't Alvin Sargent contracted to write a fourth movie when he signed on to pen Spider-Man 3, or did he get tired of it? Maybe Sony wants to save him for either 5 or 6.

Um, I don't know how to break this to you, but what others were disappointed in doesn't concern me. What I like is all that counts to me.

So, it's still your disappointment.

Thanks for playing though.

Any time!

I can't wait for the news to start pouring in, who will be in the cast, who are the villains etc etc. Exciting times, once again.

yah before everyone continues to say hes a great writer, you do realize he has only written one good movie? the others sucked hard

I hope they don't make it overfilled with villians and plotholes like 3 was.

Yes..Marvel is overbooked on 2009...their outside contractors are ****ing them over.

2009 promises:

Captain America
Thor
Wolverine
Magneto
Silver Surfer
Spider-Man

there aren't enough weeks in the summer to put them out with out hurting each other's profit and cause a big bust in the market...thus ruining everything Marvel's got going for it.

I'd like to see Spider-Man in 2010. Come to think of it I'd also like Cap in 2010. 4 marvel movies a year should be the max.

Of course, this is the spidey forums, and Spidey fans are notorious for not giving a **** about anything but Spidey...soo... you probably don't care that Spider-Man in 2009 could RUIN Marvel films.

For the last time, Spider-Man 4 in 2009 is not happening. There's just not enough time. Had Vanderbilt been hired over the summer, then an '09 release would have been possible. But now, especially with the strike, it just isn't feasible.

Well Darkness Falls was pretty mucha low budget film.
The Rundown was produced by Vince McMahon. Nuff said.

They were also both 4 years ago.

I'm willing to bet he has matured. I also think he's one of those writers that can thrive on source material as opposed to writing something out of thin air. It sure worked for him in Zodiac.
