The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume Part 4 - "What's that in his eye??" edition

Why would they need to dedicate a whole scene to justify a new costume in the next one? Most super films these days update the costume a little with each film as they go, and I don't see why this would need to be an exception. If they have Peter making his own costumes in this film, that plot device is already in place for him to have a slightly different costume for the next film, and then again for the film after that, just like the Nolan Batman films, Iron Man, Captain America, Thor etc.

I still don't get the hate for the costume in this, at least, I don't understand why that seems to be people's primary concern, or the one reason people would write this film off. Fans like that just piss me off. Sure the costume in the Raimi films was good, but that wasn't Spider-Man and Tobey wasn't the Peter Parker I remember from the comics, yet funnily enough, I don't recall as many people complaining about that as there were people complaining about organic web shooters.

If this film feels like a great portrayal of Spidey and is true to the characters, I will completely and totally accept the costume as a part of that world and If it does achieve this, I'll just feel sorry for anyone who can't enjoy a good film because of the costume. Alternatively, if it sucks, it's not going to be because of the costume either.

I hope not, I love the new costume and I don't want to see it changed.

Yeah I love it too, but I'm not so sure about the GA, most of the mainstream movie goers that I have heard talking about this film still hate the new costume really much, and that's why I think Sony will change the costume with the following things:

-white eyes
-a belt (without the stripes going down his legs)
- no blue palms or blue finger tips (still propably having some blue in between the broken red parts)
-webs being more like comic book webs (but still not raised)
-no shoes (explained some how that he will make the actual sole parts better for running)

they would still probably keep the material, and the overall "edgier" and tighter shape of the costume

Yeah, I wouldn't hold my breath. You can't really count on or predict anything for this franchise so far, if it doesn indeed become another Spidey franchise. To predict exactly what they'll change is way to premature.

I don't get the hate towards the costume either, but that doesn't mean that the massive amount of hate doesn't exist. You have to remember that there never was this massive hate for the BB suit, the Iron-man suit, or the Captain America suit, so that's why I think there will be a big change instead of a little update. The scene that would hint Peter making a costume heavily based on the classic design would make fan boys freak out, and it would make GA somewhat satisfied

Ok, maybe it is, but you gotta admit that what I said is still possible

There was actually a fair amount of hate for the Cap suit, and I still hear *****ing about the TDK suit. The pattern seems to be, people ***** and moan but then they still see the movie, and if the movie turns out good, most people forget all about the costume. It's a minor detail, and honestly, from readin people's comments, you'd think the costume was green and spiky, with antenna sticking out the top. There are small differences, but that is still a Spidey costume through and through.

Yeah, of course it's possible, but I'm going to go ahead and outline changes, saying "This is what they will change". First of all, if Sony is calling any of these shots at all, you can't count on anything.

Its definitely possible that they'll change it up. If they do I hope they don't get rid of the symbol and the blue fingers. I love the new symbol on it and something about the blue fingers makes it awesome. I definitely prefer this suit over the old one. It'll probably change for the reason most costumes change or why all the Transformers died in the animated movie. Gotta bring in the new versions for the kids to buy the new toys.

I'm guessing that the new symbol stays, but the blue fingers wont. As I said, the red parts will probably still be broken up with some blue in between, but there would be a lot less of that. Maybe at the parts where the fingers connect to the palms, but elsewhere it would be pretty much red

I predict that they will make a new costume for the sequel because of all the hatred, one that's more like the comic book costume, and they will do it like this:

(after credits scene) After the last battle the costume is really really torn, he almost starts repairing it but then he stops to think, starts digging his drawer, he finds a sketchbook, and when he puts it on the table, we see that it has an older concept of the costume, then it zooms a little on Peters face and he smiles a little, then it cuts to black

Did Nolan change the batsuit because of hate? What makes you think these guys will?

Where is everyone getting the idea of yellow eyes? In every official shot of the mask besides that very first one, his eyes are reflective. Even in the trailer if you freeze frame it, you can see they are reflective. All the EW shots, they're reflective so what's with this talk of yellow eyes?

What? He has yellow eyes in one or two of the EW shots and in the trailer, his eyes ARE reflective but they have a yellow/orange tinge to them.

I don't mind them changing between the two tbh, it's damn cool. For action shots have reflective eyes, for close ups have the yellowy mesh ones. :D

The Nolan batsuit wasn't even nearly as much hated as the new Spider-man costume
The hate towards Nolan's batsuit was mostly just among hardcore Batman fans, the spidey costume is hated not only by many Spidey fans, but also by most of the mainstream movie goers as well. That's why there's a big chance that the costume will have a big change in the sequel

But you see my point.

It's obvious the eyes are really reflective, but it looks like they're made out of some type of gold mesh. I prefer the gold eyes over white tbh. He looks more bug-like.

In some scenes they look more dull than reflective, like the one I posted of Spidey crouched.

Maybe he has different lenses for different situations? Maybe he wears the reflective ones in the daytime and the dull/gold ones when it's darker.

I wouldn't mind that. I wouldn't mind it also if they didn't explain it. They had reflective lenses in some scenes in Raimi's Spider-Man then they switched back to the plain white ones in others.

Agreed.

^This :applaud

after watching the trailer, I'm still a bit iffy on the new costume.

I still think it's a bit too busy. And the shot of it in the daytime kind of reminded of that 70s live-action Spidey show ( and that's not a good thing......lol ).

I think they need to darken the blue a bit in the daytime shots.

The 1st picture of the costume in the dark was pretty good, though.

even taking these into consideration, it's still a very faithful costume. i'd argue that Captain America's costume is less faithful and i'd still describe his costume as 'faithful'...

MORE tighter huh? is there anyway you could get MORE pickier? Spidey's costume is suppose to be skin tight.

please tell me you're just parodying the ridiculousness of the Hype.

Oh hypesters, U so silleh.

His next complaint?

No nipples.

Her. NOT his.

Seriously, THAT'S a complaint you have over the suit? That it's tighter?

Calm down.,,

I was in really the bad mood yesterday, okay?...Well b/c of babysitting. They drove me really crazy. Yeah, I am sorry. Anyways, I got really upset b/c I actually loved the suit till I saw this trailer.

I know that I have to wait for more footage of Spider man' action. My biggest concern about this movie is Peter/ Spidey's personally and Spidey's moves/ power. I want to see Spidey do some crazy s***. Hell, he can do that...easily. Okay I should stop now.

Another comparison which I'm not getting at all is when people say it reminds them of the 70s Spider-Man suit.

...Wut?

It reminds me of the Raimi suit more than anything, especially the similar eye shape.
