The Amazing Spider-Man Spider-Man Reboot Costume Part 4 - "What's that in his eye??" - Part 6

I would have loved a "real" web pattern, but what we do have is perfectly fine for this suit simply because it's not a suit that looks like it should go out and model itself which is the opposite of Raimi's suit that looks completely flashy. Webb's suit looks very "random" at areas and fits in with the the idea that a kid made it. It doesn't look like a real professional worked on it. Now sure, the suit WAS made by professionals, but that's not the point.

It was made by the professionals to LOOK like it was made by a kid. I am pretty sure Marc Webb said it himself so it being made by professionals is not the point at all.

This right here. lol

I love the new costume, and you're right it does like a kid made it. I thought that a while ago. Like the shoes and stripes down the pants, kind of like a tracksuit.

Well you've got a point, it doesn't look like someone who knows what he's doing did it but a kid. I could quote this suit as to why sometimes realism is not a good thing.

And it was not like Spider-man's suit had ever been a problem at suspending anyone's disbelief. Ever.

This is also a good point lol. I've never really had questions about the suit in Raimi's, well except I still sometimes question where the hell it came from but I never really questioned why it is so high quality.

Do you guys think it is possible for Peter to run out of web in this movie towards the end at a very bad time (like when he is fighting the Lizard) and make web cartridges and put a utility belt on his suit to fix that in future movies?

That's possible, since it would intensify a scene.

Yeah...no way in heck I'd ever buy that a highschool kid made this suit. It's obviously still too high quality.

As far as the look goes, I'm warming up to it. It's basically the Reily suit with a few changes, and I always liked his suit. I was more annoyed with the reason for the changes (or what I percieve the reason to be) then the changes themselves. I think it's clear they wanted to make it different simply to differentiate this from the previous franchise, which I think was unneeded.

I have a feeling that there will be a scene that he runs out of webbing for sure in the movie, but we haven't seen any web cartridges so it would be really cool if they show evolution in the suit that way. Plus we could get a belt, which I would be happy about

this I can agree with, how the heck is Peter so good at sewing? My middle school had a sewing class but still lol. I think they wanted it to look like it was designed by a kid, like the stripes going down the legs and maybe the web pattern because you're right, there is no way a highschool kid is making that suit by himself.
I was looking at the gloves a couple days ago and thought of something. What if he gets the gloves from old winter gloves and takes out whatever the heck makes those things so thick and puffy. I remember having old winter gloves that were broken up kinda like these ones at the fingertips.

No kid could make that costume so I will never understand the thinking that the costume looks like a teenager could make it. It looks just as complicated as the Raimi suit...just not as well designed. Plus...Peter is neither a costume designer or a seamstress so whether it's the Raimi suit or the Webb suit, it's not realistic for any poor run of the mill nerd teenager to be able to make that.

I love how people get bent out of shape when it comes to trying to believe that a high school kid could make a 'high quality' suit yet are perfectly ok with him receiving genetically altered powers from a spider bite. Would it be better if he was wearing blue and red sweatpants and a knit cap?

Let's just say that he creates some spider-web and webshooters.

If it were by me, I'd have Peter getting the costume from someone else, like Connors or something.

Real life Parker would make the spider-webs on the suit with magic marker.

I guess that's why they left the spider webs off the suit this time around.

I never said I had an issue with it, I just said I would never buy that a highschool kid made it.

Personally I don't think the design is that bad. Like I said, I just look at it as a film translation of the Reily suit (because it more or less is) and I think it works fine. Yeah, it's nowhere near as comic accurate as the Raimi suit, but it still looks like Spider-man.

Heck, I'd argue it looks much more like Spider-man then the movie Batsuits have ever looked like the comic Batsuit (aside from the Adam West version).

It still looks like Spider-man. That's very key. I'll admit that I did not like the suit when I first saw it about a year ago but it has grown on me. The suit looked fantastic in the newest trailer...the textures and colors are better than what we got with Raimi's suit.

speaking about the color, does anyone else see that there are some very subtle blue marks over the red parts of the suit?

Yeah, that's what got me to like it more as well. I like the textures and colors more. The design is still meh, but it's really not that bad. In the trailer, it looked like the classic spidey suit, because when he was movie the changes were barely apparent.

Really, Spidey fans are just spoiled. We got a pretty near perfect interpretation of the suit the first time around, so when we saw this, people started freaking out, when in reality it's nowhere near as bad or drastically different as other superhero suits have been.

And I'm far less "meh" about this suit then I am about TDK/TDKR Batman suit. If we're talking about bad design choices, this suit doesn't even compare to the "geometric leg shapes" design that monster has going on.

Exactly. How the hell did Bruce Wayne but together that costume and make it look so good in BB? Nobody cares. It didn't ruin the movie for anybody. How did he design the Tumbler to shoot out the Batpod? Nobody cares. If Peter showed up in an awesome suit then people wouldn't once say...no high school kid could have made that...I wish we had a suit that was more realistic. So when I hear people say this costume looks more realistic and in line with what a high school kid could make...no, just no.

Good lord, I sincerely hope nobody wishes for that. Because even if we do buy that Peter is a genius level scientist and mechanic...he probably still wouldn't be a great fashion designer.

So yeah...I don't know why anyone would want to see Pete in a more "realistic" suit. Thought It would be cool to see Pete (when in his pre-offical suit stage) put together a costume that's similar to the Scarlet Spider's outfit.

Didn't I really just say that?

This is really my point. Raimi's suit DID look spot on and looked professional, Webb's suit does not. And I do understand how things can become too "realistic", but overall I still like Webb's suit.

I hope he doesnt run out of web alot in these new movies. I always hated that stuff in the 90s cartoon. He's a seasoned hero, he wouldnt go into a fight without having a full cartridge

The part of Webb's suit that doesn't look professional is how he doesn't get the webs right. But a realistic suit that could be plausible to be made by a student woiuld have had the webs done with a magic marker. The suit looks unprofessional just because its design looks uninspired, not because it looks plausible.

On the other hand he can't know how much web is he going to use.

You can probably bet that at some point he may run out of web fluid during a crucial moment. It's all about building and resolving tension.

And he's NOT a seasoned hero...this is the first movie in a series of three or possibly more...so in THIS movie he's only been Spider-man for like, 10 days. He's bound to make some mistakes. Also, not all fights are planned. He could be swinging home from some other encounter, about to run out of web fluid and BAM! he gets attacked by the Lizard.
