This one looks like they literally grabbed a random frame from the teaser trailer and slapped the title on it and printed it. Some lazy ass marketing going on. Its the 50th anniversary, Paramount. Get your **** together!

Paramount had a 2+hour presentation at Cinemacon, but did not show any Star Trek footage, despite J.J. Abrams and Simon Pegg being present and hosting.

Major reshoots with new actors. 12 weeks out and no full trailer. Not a good sign.

who says there are major reshoots? I saw that they are reshoots, which are pretty standard.

Paramount had out all their big hitters for the year (blockbusters and Oscar baits) bar Scorsese's 'Silence" and all of them had trailers shown except for this. Not good. Especially when JJ and Pegg were in town.

That fact is more cause of concern to me then reshoots.

They didn't even show the previously released one?

This is Variety's write up of Paramount's 2016 slate from CinemaCon. Nothing on Star Trek Beyond. They even had Tom Cruise mention something about MI6 and that's not even been shot yet.

Big surprise from Paramount #cinemacon presentation was no STAR TREK BEYOND footage. They didn't even show the previously released footage

It is very strange, I don't think they have officially release a teaser poster and trailer #2 should be out by now.

I won't be surprised if they change the release date.

Worst thing about it is Paramount screwed over their own movie and the main guy's from Beyond were at the convention.

This has the feeling of a movie that is in trouble. Should've never hired that hack Justin Lin.

Abrams has directed a SW movie and two ST movies. His geek fantasies have been fulfilled and he's done.

That's fine; but that doesn't mean that Lin was the right guy to replace him. Now, to be fair, Lin might have done a great job but I'm not sure about what we've seen so far and it's troubling that we haven't gotten a second trailer yet.

maybe the movie is not so big in scope like a normal summer blockbuster so they dont know how to promote it.

do i understand correct that in the first act the ship crashes on a planet and then in the final battle they find an old ship and they go into battle ? in the middle of the movie we get an oldschool TV episode story?

I don't know the plot, but this is Star Trek. The first two films were big action summer blockbuster fare. That's what they want this one to be too. The only way that won't happen is if Lin f***ed up big time.

Also, those are some of the vaguest, laziest posters I've ever seen. I mean, they couldn't come up with anything better than that?

We are still three months from release so a lack of a full trailer isnt entirely unusual. And didnt Abrams and or paramount handle the marketing for STID the same way?

That being said, they really should try to get a full trailer out by May. Waiting any later to release the first full trailer is just going to start drawing attention to the film in a bad way.

I remember it starting pretty late tho. Maybe Paramount is planning a marketing blitz starting in May...
