Am i alone in thinking that Star Trek Into Darkness sounds more like a tagline than a title?

Yeah I thought about that, but if done that way it would imply a colon or hyphen between the two separate groups of words. Writing it all on one line eliminates this problem

P.S I wonder if the main Enterprise crew will be at the same ranks as they were at the end of the first movie?

I think it's pre-ordained that Chekov will be an ensign until he's 40.

In ST:TMP wasn't Chekov a Lieutenant and in ST:TWOK wasn't he either Commander or Lieutenant Commander?

it's sequel has just as much space between films as tdk to tdkr aka 4 years

I'm still really curious about what Bruce Greenwood/Admiral Christopher Pike's role is gonna be in the film and will he still be in the wheelchair.

Yes, but the whole tdk franchise had already been established with the 2 previous films. This is still a franchise trying to get its feet off the ground.

I think 3 years is usually the max you'd want to have between a film in a new franchise and its first sequel. Otherwise some of that spark from the first time around can start to dim.

I could be wrong but i feel if the sequel doesn't live up to the BO potential of the 1st it will come back to that they shouldn't have let the hype from 1st one simmer down too much.

I know it isnt as white hot anticipation as it was. That will probably change when marketing starts.

I hope so. In a modern film, a 1:6 female/male ratio for a cast that's not The Expendables is a little strange.

I've gotta little question about start trek in general. Does the universe take place in our future or is it its own alternate reality?

I was reading something about a eugenics war that took place in the 1990's and obviously that didn't happen. So i'm assuming star trek is just its own alternate universe?

Well...yes now. But the Eugenics war was first mentioned in the mid 60's when TOS was around. So I would say yes and no. It was suppose to be OUR future, and the whole philosophy of Trek, is the people/society we are today, can and will become better, and we will strive to be more.

So since the 90's and other dates in the Trek universe have passed, ya it would make it...fictional lol which it always has been. However when Trek first came along, it was suppose to be in OUR future. And in the philosophical sense, it still is, and that is the message it is trying to drive home.

I know that sounds confusing, but I hope that is a little clearer.

The eugenics war did happen, but it's been erased from everybody's collective memories except mine.
