They cant even sell a theme park based entirely on the sequel trilogy
what I find most funny is you fail to think about all the other reasons as to why the park is the way it is currently, aside from acting like the sequel trilogy is universally hated. Reasons like Scarlet Witch mentioned, which I think is the primary reason and possibly the pricing of things. I don't know where you get this idea that somehow the sequel trilogy is universally hated and is the downfall of an entire theme park, but what I do know is that all we have for TROS is a teaser trailer, which was very very well received by audiences and thats it. There's literally no basis to say that a park has failed because of its focus on the sequel trilogy. That's some youtube clickbait b*******. Everybody who has been to the park has loved it, and when the Rise Of The Resistance portion opens, its gonna be even better.

People say they love it but are not apparently returning ? Time will tell as with all things

It will be pretty interesting to see how this does. TLJ dropping $736 million, or almost 36%, from TFA is very significant and I don't believe for a second that Lucas Film drew the right conclusion from that and Solo when they say that the problem was doing one film per year. That's nonsense to me.

Sure, there is some effect of the TLJ disappointment going into Solo, but I don't think that has vanished by now. I do think JJ will try to counteract it will plenty of fan service (which is not a negative thing) but I'm skeptical towards that he will manage to steer the franchise up to its potential.

Personally I only have hype for the Mandalorian as far as SW goes at the moment, but I'm not factoring in that when estimating the general public.

Nobody has said it is universally hated. But many were disappointed. The boxoffice falls can tell you that. Many of those disappointed may well go and see episode 9. But i think there will be a further drop. If it had stiffer competition i'd think it would be lucky to get a billion.

Plus those theme parks are expensive. There's no comparison between that and a movie ticket. So much planning goes into families that are going to drop mega bucks on a theme park vacation. It makes sense for non-locals to want to wait until everything is open before they spend thousands of dollars on it.

I doubt it would have trouble getting a billion dollars even with competition. Are we really trying to say Spider-Man Far From Home would be watched by more people than Star Wars? Come on. The response to the teaser trailer has been overwhelmingly possitive and I've even see people who disliked The Last Jedi be completely back on board after seeing the trailer. Watch when that theatrical trailer drops. People seem to not be realizing this is the end of the skywalker saga and Episode IX is the sequel to 9 movies. That's how its being billed and that's what JJ had in mind when making this film. it's gonna be much bigger than some people currently realize.

Exactly. That's literally why my brother hasn't planned a trip yet.

Why not? Tfa had a box office of $2bn, tlj $1.3bn. Only needs another 30% to not turn up.
You say it's star wars? So was solo.
End of the skywalker saga? That ended last film, luke is dead. By far the most popular character in the franchise.

I voted $1-1.2bn and i will stick with it. But if there was more competition i think it would struggle to get that. I might be wrong. It might be fantastic and everyone flocks to see it. Just think a lot of people just don't care that much anymore.

Interest in Solo was never that big tbh, even before TLJ. I saw people, including my brother whos loved star wars his whole life, say that they didnt have much interest in a han solo movie. add to that the fact that Infinity War was out as well as Deadpool 2. I liked Solo, but even I only saw it once in the theater, compared to 6 times for TFA and 4 for TLJ. Btw, my brother really dug force awakens, didnt care much for TLJ although he appreciates its depth, and is insanely excited for TROS. I think some of you guys are under estimated how big the film is gonna do. People are curious about how this is all gonna end, and personally I think we'll see that in box office numbers.

as for Luke being dead, that still doesn't mean its the end of the skywalker saga. Ben Solo is a skywalker, and judging by what JJ has said, and form the leaks I've read, its sounding more and more to me like this is going to be a very very very satisfying conclusion to all 9 movies. its been my most hyped movie of the year all year and I wish it was december already haha.

While I'm of the same opinion as you that it will have no problem breaking $1 billion, reasoning like what you say with FFH has been done before. For example how people were laughing at the notion that a Thor film would compete with Justice League, let alone surpass it. Or that a Star Wars film would lose money.

Even regarding the trailer TLJ had very positive reactions to its trailers as well and the hype was nearly the same as for TFA, despite not having the same benefit of starved SW fans.

I'm just pointing out that nothing is certain and I do think that TLJ has made a dent in the franchise that will take a while to repair. I don't think ROS will get to the point where I expected the franchise to be at this point when I thought about it after TFA.

Could this be the one movie in the modern era of Disney Star Wars to not cross that $1 billion line?
Before you get confused and go "Aahhh, Solo?" I will include "Not a spinoff"

You referred to your brother more than once, but he can be excited and shocked to see the showroom he sits in has more than half if its seats empty.

As i said if it had more competition then i think it might struggle especially if reviews are bad. But it is only up against jumanji (which will be big). Families will probably see more than one film over xmas. So think both will do well.

I'm sorry, guys, but there is no WAY this film doesn't hit a billion. Disney had the marketing machine ready to go, they've bought out a major competitor, and there is a vacuum around it's release date. They are marketing this as the end of an era, and...it has to be said, this is STAR WARS. Solo...whatever. No Vader, no lightsabers except for one that was shoe-horned in at the end (because he was going to cut her down with his holograhic projection of a lightsaber, right?), and we didn't have a plot with any REAL importance to the Saga. Solo gets the Millenium Falcon? That's all I saw happen in that film. Han isn't even a full-on scoundrel in the movie...nor does he become one.

This movie will crack a billion like a carton of eggs bagged by a teenager. The Last Jedi's divisiveness is what may keep it under 1.5 or 2 billion.

I loved TFA and TLJ and I didnt have any hype for Solo (I saw it, tough).

'Solo' blew it on several levels. Miscast lead, dull retread story that had too much stuff we already knew about, uninspired writing, playing fast and loose with established canon. It seemed as if they thought SW fans would go see it just because it was Han Solo and Star Wars and it didn't actually have to be be good.

I liked solo for what it is, but it's my least fave of the new films. The film didn't do as well as TLJ because it wasn't marketed correctly, you had infinity war and Deadpool 2 hot off the presses, and I just don't think people were that interested in a Han Solo movie. TROS on the other hand is the end of a 40 year saga, and everybody is curious as to how all of this is gonna end.

Here's my ranking of all the new films btw

TFA
TLJ
Rogue One
Solo

I'm honestly still not entirely sure about seeing ROS in theaters. TLJ was so bad that I didn't see Solo in theaters and my SW love hasn't really healed yet. Although since it's not Johnson that's making it, and that each film's director apparently doesn't need to write much based on what the previous film did, I'll probably end up in the theater for it.

I also actually do have some hopes for The Mandalorian so maybe that will awaken the general lust for SW again.

Yeah, my kids didn't even enjoy Solo. It's not that it's bad, there is just nothing exceptional about it. "Lukewarm" would be how I would put that.

My ranking for the new films is as follows:
1) Rogue One
2) TFA
3) TLJ
4) Solo

I just really loved Rogue One. It's probably my second or third favorite Star Wars movie.

People say they love it but are not apparently returning ? Time will tell as with all things

It's been open less than 2 months. Who exactly is going to be returning within that short time frame? The only ones who can do that are local passholders. The very same people who were blocked from using their passes until recently. (The crowds were back in full force this weekend btw)

I'm putting off my own trip until at least next year when ROTR opens, or maybe 2021 when the Marvel Land opens in DCA.
