Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - - - Part 12

It was inevitable. Batwoman has stopped too. But no mention of Legends, unless that's all finished already.

I believe they wrapped in January. Or possibly before. I think Routh mentioned his last day was in November/December.

Yep, this was only a matter of time. They were shooting the finale on SG though (since its episode count was gonna be a little shorter) and probably only had a week of shooting tops left to go, so I’m a little surprised they didn’t decide to let them finish. But I’m glad they decided safety first! This thing is no joke, and their star is pregnant, which puts her more at risk than usual.
I believe Melissa already wrapped, or was about to. Her last day was supposed to be Friday.

According to Nicole Maines, they had a couple of more scenes to do before the shutdown.

Or... shoot the scenes in Supermarionation. Call it avant-garde. Or a Very Special Episode.

Assuming those are originals, that's a few bobs worth there. Also, love Scott's 'bad hair day'! :funny:

Since we could use all the smiles we can get right now. There’s lots of evidence that the Supergirl cast really does act like a family but here’s an article that highlights that.
Does the ‘Supergirl’ Cast Get Along Off-Camera?

It turns out that David officiated Melissa and Chris’s wedding. Space dad married two of his adopted space kids.

Hopefully they will resume production on the season finale if they can.

With the imminent breakdown of the economy and the recent bad ratings i don't see good thing for Supergirl, i fear for a cheap season 6. I hope i'm wrong.

Didnt they have 22 episodes this season? How did they get so far ahead of The Flash/Batwoman?

It was changed to 20, likely because Melissa got pregnant. Rumor was the plan had been to film a couple of episodes of next season before breaking for the summer but that’s not happening now.

Flash and Batwoman were filming their 20th episodes too so those shows will have a much more difficult time with a conclusion

Based on the revised schedule, Supergirl.tv calculates that season 5 will consist of 19 episodes.

If that’s the case - and if they were just a couple of days from completing the finale - then 19 episodes would have been the plan all along.

Maybe the season finale will involve some of them in the virtual reality world, and some of it will look CG or animated. Otherwise how else will they complete it? Are they going to have cast members filming things in their own homes which don't look like any of the Supergirl sets and probably won't look the same quality? Or maybe some footage over Skype or Zoom?

I hope we don't get flashbacks and turn it into a clip show to pad out the time. Maybe they have some deleted scenes and unused footage, or alternate footage that they could redub.

I wonder if the 6th season will start with the 5th season finale that they didn't finish due to COVID-19.

You know I saw someone mentioned Young Kara in this thread and actually turning Kara back into a kid for a few episodes via some crazy magic or science could actually be a wise move while she’s pregnant. Shows have done this before to give actors a break but it’s often made for interesting story arcs too. Could be an option for them if they get to restart a new season while Melissa is on Mat Leave or heavily pregnant.

That won't be necessary. At most we were only looking at a minor delay to begin with, as the timing seemed to be for her to have the baby over the summer break. Now, depending on how much longer Covid goes on, she might even be ready to return at the same time as everyone else.

What does she mean her last episode of Supergirl airs? Is she not in the episodes after this week until the end of the season? Did she go on maternity leave?
