Supergirl Supergirl General Discussion Thread - Part 7

He does look kinda lean tbh. Bringing back memories of seeing Routh in the suit back in Superman Returns. But whatevs. Should be fine.

This is, I believe, the first time EVER we get to see the two of them in live action together in full costume. Clark & Kara never appeared together in the movies, and the only TV show she appeared on before was Smallville where, of course, she and Clark never suited up. So that's cool.

I suppose it's been brought up already, but does anyone else really wish the Flash/Supergirl crossover hadn't happened when it did? It firmly established that the shows were in different universes, whereas if they'd done it after the move to CW they could have had it so they were in the same universe. Maybe they'll have some kind of Crisis and merge them.

Nah, it doesn't work for either show's continuity to have them exist in the same universe to start off with (considering the presence of Superman and Supergirl would be huge in the Flarrow-verse and Supergirl explicitly stated she and Superman were the only two superheroes in her universe in the pilot), so the way they did it actually makes the most sense, imo.

But I agree a Crisis or convergence of the worlds is likely now.

The only thing I dislike about the suit is the belt. Everything else looks good.

The suit is great, the picture is weird looking though.

It's at almost the very same unflattering angle as the first Routh pic. Something more top-down would look better.

Maybe they should've just built the belt into the suit as part of the design if they wanted something red there, instead of having a belt that goes over the top but isn't holding anything up. It could've just been a red strip to break up the blue.

I just realized that Superman losing the red pants across all media is a little like a few years back when Batman lost the yellow oval around his bat.

It's stupid that they retconned the oval from The Killing Joke. It's not as if that version of the bat symbol is such an embarrassment to everything Batman stands for that it has to be erased from existence.

'Supergirl': Calista Flockhart to Return for Season 2
Cat Grant is staying put in National City.

Calista Flockhart is set to return to Supergirl for the superhero drama's upcoming second season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.

Flockhart, however, will not return as a series regular. She will instead be billed as recurring moving forward. She will appear in multiple episodes beginning with the Oct. 10th season two premiere -- also the series' first new episode on The CW after moving from CBS. She begins production next week.

Not surprised that she is going from regular to reoccurring. No way she would be working full time in Vancouver. I will miss seeing her on a constant basis.

I think it is a natural transition. To me they would almost have to force her into the dialogue with Kara no longer her assistant. It seems the perfect transition of Kara into a more independent role in her every day life.

Why can't she still be billed as a series regular but not appear in every episode? There are other characters in other series who do that. Wasn't Brett Dalton still billed as part of the regular cast of Agents of SHIELD since the second season even though he wasn't in every episode?

I guess at least she's returning though. It would've been a shame if we had to lose her.

$$$$$

Plus they would have to contract her for so many episodes which would be a waste if she wasn't available when they wanted her.

head's up, they are re airing Supergirl on CW at 8 pm eastern time, if you want to watch the 1st episode it's starts tonight

There was no real reason that I can think of for them to downgrade her contractual status, so I wonder why they did.

She could've played a smaller role and still been paid, contractually, as a Series Regular.

I am glad she's returning, though, even if she's taking a pay cut and LESS job security to do so.

There was a reason.

Keeping Flockhart onboard with the new filming location had been problematic as she was not willing to uproot her family to move to Vancouver. She was not obligated to continue (Alyssa Milano similarly left ABC’s Mistresses when its production moved from Los Angeles to Canada). In the end, a compromise was reached, and the studio will fly Flockhart to Vancouver every few weeks or so. I hear Flockhart would do as many scenes as she could by commuting back and forth, likely banking material for multiple episodes in one trip north. I hear she would be paid per her original series-regular contract.

^ They could've done that and still kept her on a Series Regular contract.

Couldn't she film some scenes in LA? Or she could do some via Skype. They could write it that she's away on business somewhere and could still appear in the episode via Skype.

Disregard my previous comment. Apparently they ARE still paying her as a Series Regular, but she won't be credited as sch.

Oh, so this is Supergirl. It does somehow feel right here alongside the likes of the other CW DC shows. The whole 'rah rah girl power' isn't laid on AS thick as some made it out to be, though it's only two episodes in so maybe it comes later. It's there, but not as bad as I expected.
