I can't find the article that explained it but it said he was very abrupt with her making her feel like an idiot. He said something along the lines of(major paraphrasing here)"are you serious?! Why would you ask/bring that up??" She responded with "well I figured everyone here has already seen the movie". He replys with a smart ass "...who do you think this press report is for". Meaning people in a few days are going to see or read about it.
Ah, I see. Thanks. It would be funny if footage of this existed, lol.

Questions:

1. What did Ras do to be sent to the pit? Who sent him there, and who was in charge of the pit? And why did he not go, but his pregnant wife?

2. Why was Bane so attached to Talia in the prison? Why was he the protector?

3. Why did the prisoners attack Talia (who was just a little boy looking child) and Bane?

4. If Talia/Bane's end game was to destroy Gotham with the nuke, why not just detonate the trigger earlier? And if they couldn't have, where in the movie do we learn they couldn't?

5. Why did Bane say he was apart of the League of Shadows, rather that he WAS the League of Shadows, when he was actually exiled by them?

6. I feel like I am missing the whole point of Bruce escaping the pit. What was the meaning, both literal and underlying, of not using the rope?

7. In the end, are the pearls with the tracker in the Batcave to lead JGL, or with Bruce to lead Alfred?

Please don't take this the wrong way but...you DID see the movie, right?

I mean I don't mind when people ask questions but these were all blatantly explained in the film.

Questions:

1. What did Ras do to be sent to the pit? Who sent him there, and who was in charge of the pit? And why did he not go, but his pregnant wife?

He fell in love and married the daughter of the local lord. The lord sent him there, it was his prison. Tas did go, but Talia's mother freed Ras by taking his place in the prison.

2. Why was Bane so attached to Talia in the prison? Why was he the protector?

He valued her innocence. The prison doctor forgot to lock the cell one night and she and her mother was attacked. Bane was her friend who rescued her.

3. Why did the prisoners attack Talia (who was just a little boy looking child) and Bane?

Presumably because they hated her father for imprisoning them. They attacked Bane because Bane rescued Talia.

4. If Talia/Bane's end game was to destroy Gotham with the nuke, why not just detonate the trigger earlier? And if they couldn't have, where in the movie do we learn they couldn't?

Talia mentions something about a slow revenge being the most painful. Bane says that he wanted to give the Gotham people hope, so they would fight each other for survival.

5. Why did Bane say he was apart of the League of Shadows, rather that he WAS the League of Shadows, when he was actually exiled by them?

He was exiled by Ras, not the League of Shadows. He and Talia are both a part of it, but Talia forgave her father after he died.

6. I feel like I am missing the whole point of Bruce escaping the pit. What was the meaning, both literal and underlying, of not using the rope?

To escape without fear. That the whole point of falling was to pick yourself up.

7. In the end, are the pearls with the tracker in the Batcave to lead JGL, or with Bruce to lead Alfred?

The pearls were with Bruce and Selina. It isn't implied they lead Alfred there, because he mentions that he visits the cafe in Florance every year near the beginning of the movie. It isn't a far-fetched theory though.

It was in regards to Tate/Talia from what I can remember.

I thought she asked him about the ending?

Bane wasn't in love with Talia, he was in love with what she symbolized to him... innocence and hope

Talia said Bane loved her. And I doubt you could say she symbolized innocence when she literally had her hand on a bomb detonator.

From what book was Gordon reading at funeral? Was it A Tale of Two Cities?
EDIT: Found it. Yes it is. Haha

This is the entire thing, right?

I see the lives for which I lay down my life, peaceful, useful, prosperous and happy.
I see that I hold a sanctuary in their hearts, and in the hearts of their descendants, generations hence.
It is a far, far better thing that I do, than I have ever done; it is a far, far better rest that I go to than I have ever known.

Yes, It was stated, as I recall, in the opinion of one of the critics that the Dark Knight Rises may suffer in the eyes of those who have not devoted to it the entirety of their attention.

Well it isn't like people didn't want to pay attention. A lot of the details were easily missed because there's only so much you can put into a film. In my theater the score was so loud that my ears are still hurting.

Yet, a majority of us seemed to have picked up on those details fairly easy simply by paying attention and not "sweating the small stuff" like…how plausable it would be for Bruce to get back from the prision to Gotham in such a quick amount of time. Or how he was able to set up that Bat symbol on the bridge or how he made his way back into Gotham with the bay frozen over.

See, when they're nitpciking stuff like that, they come into these boards and are asking questions about the stuff that actually mattered. Stuff the rest of us picked up on while watching the film simply because we didn't nitpick every…little…thing.

People aren't necessarily nitpicking, they just want to understand the story better. Like, why was there a blood transfusion in the beginning? Some parts of the story weren't explained in detail and people just want an answer.

Certainly.

And yes the score was rather jarring over that 12,000 watt IMAX sound system. The final audio mix should have SZimmered down the score just a bit. Of course I don't think I (we) can properly reference the audio until we have it in our homes.

It's kind of funny on how when I look back at some things..on how a good amount of things that most people thought would never come true ended up happening in this film.lol:

She is never referred to by name. Her last scene was when she gives Selina a hug, because Selina was disturbed at how people were looting the homes of the rich. It isn't implied she's a prostitute, more like a pickpocket.

If I recall, that scene where Bruce goes to see Selina and Bruce is trying to argue his way into apartment with Temples character. Selina says something like "He's not a mark ."

So many nods from comics present -

* Selina Kyle is called as Cat Burglar (nod to Catwoman) her side kick Kitrina.

* Nod to batman Beyond (Bruce with a cane.)

* Nod to Lazarus pit.

* Nod to graphic novel: Bane of the Demon.

* Nod to comics (Batman: KnightFall) with iconic moment Bane breaking the Bat.

* Nod to graphic novel Batman: The Dark Knight Returns. (the end scenes.)

* Nod to Tim Drake (Robin.)

* Nod to Adam west series (similar looking Bomb.)

that's the amazing part of all this fuss right ??:wow: approximately 90% of the rumored/imagines plot points just ENDED UP being in the movie:

Tate=talia
bane=talia's lover/second in command
return of the League
blake, supposed beat cop being robin (or an idea of him anyway)

...

I think the two cops (the one that said "sorry") are a reference to Dark Knight Returns.

From Urbandictionary: " noun. A person identified as an easy target, or "sucker". A mark is always the short end of a joke or scam, and is never let in on whats going on. A mark is usually being cheated out of money."

If he was a John, she would've probably called him a "client."

I personally thought Juno Temple was more like Holly.

For number 6, wasn't not having the rope giving him fear?

For number 6, wasn't not having the rope giving him fear?

Without Rope there was a fear of losing life, but Bruce said that he was not afraid of his death but failure, without rope he had only one chance to get it right as failing would mean fall to death and if he died then he would not get another chance hence failure.

So, he had to overcome that fear.

In regards to Bane and talia..honestly, I couldn't tell if they were lovers or if it was more of a sibling thing going on between them since Bane is presented as being much older than Talia and you never once hear Talia referring to Bane as her lover.

But definitely 100% for everything else, let alone on things like Bruce ending up with Selina, passing down the mantle, Ra's al Ghul hallucination, etc.

Bane was not Talia's lover. He was her friend and protector. She said at the end "Goodbye, my friend", not "Goodbye, my love".

Well it could be argued that it wasn't explicitly stated in the movie. :(

first time poster...just wanted to chime in on the discussion about one thing that some people didn't pick up on in the movie that really bothered me. that would be the fact that commissioner Gordon and his wife are separated. i saw a lot of people who were either confused about where his family had gone (and had clearly not paid enough attention to the Harvey Dent Day party scene) or were upset that something so vital to Gordon's character and motivation had been left out of the movie.

frustrating to hear people with these problems. seems like some people who went to the theater forgot the closing scenes of TDK where Gordon and wife watch a madman point a gun at their children's heads...more than enough reason for her to feel like maybe this wasn't the healthiest relationship. also, she and the children were obviously among the few people who knew the truth about Harvey Dent, and I'm pretty sure hiding a secret like that from the world might drive just about any happy couple apart.

it was also necessary for the character's development for Gordon to lose his family. he made a deal with the devil, and in TDKR we see the consequences for all of the people who made that deal. Gordon loses his family, Alfred essentially loses Bruce to internalized madness, Gotham locks away all the high-ranking criminals but the price for clean streets is paid in sacrificing the fundamental rights of it's citizens (the Dent Act is a not so subtle criticism of the Patriot Act and others enacted by recent administrations), Fox loses Wayne Enterprises and sees his friendship with Bruce wither away...and that's just the first act. it was all necessary, because the movie is about all of those people who allowed Batman to become a necessary form of justice finding a way to rise from the pit they've willingly thrown themselves into.

I think people should react to TDKR right away after they see it in theaters, but should also take time to watch the first two movies after having seen TDKR. A lot of the things that you felt were wrong with this movie might very well be explained in the greater context of the trilogy. it is a long saga but incredibly well balanced. you will understand more of what happened in the dark knight rises and why it happened if you go back and watch the first two movies again. i'm a huge Batman fan, but I love this trilogy because of the epic story-telling - in time I feel like many people who say the TDK is better/more entertaining than TDKR (myself included at the time of this post) will come to see how epic and finely crafted the final installment of this series really is

sorry for the rant, for future posts I will be much more brief...I just had to get some things off my chest. if i did anything i'm not supposed to in this post, please tell me so that i can correct for future posts.
