Because we all know fanboys are experts and have BA's in marketing who know better than the actual WB marketing team themselves.

I guess we should start listening to the people on the internet in how this marketing should be run.

There's nothing funnier than fanboys acting like they know something about making a movie.

I think we'll relate to Bane's ideals to the same extent we related to Joker's. Joker spoke some truth, but he took an explosive turn with it. Our sympathy for Bane will come from the rich vs. poor thing.

Yeah, and Ra's ideals can be equated to Internet trolls and haters :oldrazz:

Nolan doesn't work for WB's marketing department. He's way too busy overseeing the finishing of the film to be concerning himself with WB's marketing strategy.

If in mid June there's still nothing, only then will I agree they are being arrogant. For now it's still playing it cool and smart...like a good poker player.

Yeah, Nolan definitely isn't the person setting up NBA marketing deals, that's what the studio is for.

Don't forget, we have the Mountain Dew online marketing campaign to look forward to in mid-June. Videos, sneak peeks, and in-depth information... maybe even a special Mountain Dew trailer like the Domino's trailer we got for TDK.

The NBA TV Spot was uploaded in higher quality. Dragon316 posted it.

Ohai! Absolutely crappy night last night. Didn't sleep very much at all (and not just because I was on here 'til 5 am :hehe:... that was a consequence of me being an insomniac... the not sleeping came first :oldrazz:), and I feel like I either have a cold or the flu right now, but...

I did get one chance to dream, and I remember it!

Or think I do...

I think I add details to the dreams that I remember as I recall them, because I think they end up way more detailed in retellings then it's possible for dreams to actually be, but... I wanted to share this one here because it's TDKR-related. Kind of a cool dream, IMO, though possibly also uber-cheesey...

Anyways...

This happens before Bane makes his presence known in Gotham. I'll write in poorly-amateur-script form... :woot:

Gordon, a couple cops, the judge (whoever that may be), the mayor, and a district attorney are somewhere (can't remember where... it looked like that backroom of a bar to me, but that would be a strange place for this) arguing over why it's been 8 years and Batman isn't behind bars already. At some point during their argument, a guy with just enough alcohol in his system to make him brave (but not really drunk) walks in.

Now, you know how in real life there are always conspiracy theorists who question the official story? I have to admit that I'll be rather disappointed if they don't have one in this film. Only, in the film, just like this guy in my dream (and unlike in reality), the conspiracy theorist is actually right.

So anyways... this buzzing conspiracy theorist interrupts them:

Conspiracy Theorist: I'm sorry, but I couldn't help overhearing all of you talking about Batman. I know why he hasn't been captured.

Mayor: Oh yeah, and why is that?

Gordon: I don't think...

Mayor (cuts Gordon off): Shh... let him speak. I want to hear this.

Conspiracy Theorist: It's simple. Batman is not the one responsible for all those deaths. You see, I know what really happened eight years ago. I saw it all. I saw what happened to Harvey. I saw what the Joker did to him. I know that he refused pain killers and skin grafts. I know that he started calling himself Two-Face.

Gordon: You're insane.

Conspiracy Theorist: Am I? Am I? These eyes don't lie! I know what I saw! Now don't get me wrong... I know why you did it. I know why you and Batman decided that Batman should take the blame for those deaths. What would happen to Gotham if they found out that truth... that Harvey killed all those people? It would be horrible. We'd eat ourselves apart from the inside. So what you guy's did was admirable. You should be praised for it.

But it was Gotham's precious Dent who killed those cops. Batman took the blame to save Gotham. Admirable, but he made one mistake: you don't fix a problem with lies. Maybe it's time for the truth to come out. Harvey's the killer. Harvey's the one who...

Conspiracy Theorist gets punched out by a cop who idolizes Harvey Dent.

Cop: This guy's a fruitcake. I don't believe for a second that Harvey Dent killed those people. He would have been in way too much pain. No way he would have been able to just get up and walk around and kill people.

After a bit, people start to meander out, with some cops dragging the now fully sobered and terrified conspiracy theorist with them. Gordon and the Mayor stay behind.

Mayor: What if he was telling the truth, Gordon?

Gordon (gives the mayor a shocked, exacerbated look): You're joking... right?

Mayor: No, I'm not. I don't like Batman, but I've always had a little trouble with the official story, not least because it's been eight years and he still hasn't been captured.

Gordon: This is Batman we're talking about. They brought in the Swat team to try and get him out of Arkham way back. Remember that? And we still couldn't catch him.

Mayor: And you went in early.

Gordon: Because I didn't believe Batman was that formidable at the time. I thought I could catch him myself. I was proven wrong.

Mayor: And yet you drove Batman's... tank, was it?... through the streets of Gotham and shot down the tri-rail with it.

Gordon: I had no choice at the time. Rounding up the released Arkham inmates and stopping Crane's madness was more important than capturing Batman. Commissioner Loeb new that.

Mayor: And he was killed only a few months later by a man we all know would not exist if not for Batman... the same guy who killed one of the best people we ever had, and destroyed Harvey Dent.

Gordon: I don't think the Joker was a result of Batman's existence.

Mayor: I do.

And that's when I woke up.

:awesome:

From the Rolling Stone article on Bane:

"Bane is someone ravaged by pain from a trauma suffered long ago, and the mask dispenses a type of anesthetic that keeps his pain just below the threshold so he can function." - Chris Nolan

Okay now re-read that and replace "Bane" with "Bruce Wayne". Don't think of it in a literal sense. Food for thought. Kind of adds a new level of appreciation for why they chose Bane.

One of the best things about the rogues gallery that's explored in these films is the parallels to Bruce and his adversaries.

I love this, this is the way Bane gets known in Gotham

Cool. Wish I could dream about TDKR so coherently. When I dream about movies they're nearly always completely nonsensical.

I actually do have a degree in marketing... and there is absolutely nothing wrong with what WB is doing. Its not even June. Summer has not even started.

June will be HUGE because WB knows all the kids are getting out of school end of may/beginning of June.

I've mentioned it before... there are huge events coming up with plenty of opportunity to slam us with some marketing. If TDKR is sponsoring NBA semi-finals and gave us a new TV spot...expect it to sponsor the championship series with a couple of TV spots.

Exactly. WB has done a very good in the marketing department for TDKR. The studio got Mountain Dew, The NBA Finals and Dale Earnhardt Jr to promote the film so far. In addition, WB released a six minute prologue in front of MI:4 and the last trailer in front of The Avengers.
