If the story is really designed and paced like a war movie I can imagine it corresponding to a big runtime without feeling too bloated. There's also a lot of catching up to do after the time skip.

Oh I'm okay with three hours if it doesn't feel like it. I'm hoping they've improved in that department.

I don't think we know what his wife does. Someone said she got to read the script a year ago too right?

Sounds like she's a high-up at WB. I believe in a 3 hour TDKR.

Both TDK and BB (especially BB) could have used extra minutes to let their scenes breath a little.

Not so much extra minutes, but more space and breathing room within what it already had.

For the most part I agree, but just too overstuffed towards the end.

I just don't agree. I am not sure what people mean by this.

Like which scenes? And if your answer is "Two-Face needed more screen-time", I don't know how to help you. Harvey's story plays out perfectly in my book.

It did feel like Chris couldn't (or wouldn't) cut anything from Goyers script, so he tried his hardest to fit everything he could in 2 hours, gets really really bad near the end.

Or you're just not American. :D

But yeah, trust me, I've had my own issues with excess. ;)

We all do. Lets just hope they don't kill us. :woot:

Then the films would be called to slow. I really don't see where breathing room is needed in either film. There are things I would change or tweak in Begins, but not extra scenes just for breathing room. We have those scenes already.

Ok, is this 3 hours run time legit or not? I saw some tweets from people I never heard of saying it is unlikely.

What's the consensus here, guys? Are we buying this 3 hours thing or not?

Because you enjoy feeling sick after eating at your birthday party. :D

Again, it wasn't a screaming problem, but could have used some streamlining in the actual writing with still the same key points being hit, not so much the running time afterwards.

And no, not everyone is going to feel this way...but as is evident, some people did and for good reason. Doesn't make it a bad movie, but just one of its very minor shortcomings.

You can. But considering how many times I have seen it and never thought, "crap, this is long", I am going to have to disagree with your disagreement.
Heh, yeah, I kinda got that with your initial post. :woot:

But that isn't how TDK plays out. The energy is good throughout. It paced brilliantly with proper moments to recover and ends with your blood pumping.

Completely agree!! I love the slow build up alot. I always think its slowly built up and reintroducing the characters well up to the Hong Kong scene. Then very gradually afterwards it becomes faster and faster and more intense as it develops.

But I'm expecting TDKR to be completely different if it is going for a war film approach. Even when looking at the theories on here I just keep thinking how the hell are they gonna fit all of this in. I think 3 hours is the perfect time. Plus I don't think even with the marketing we've had so far that we have even touched the tip of the iceberg of this plot or just how torn to ***** Gotham will be.

Don't be so quick to put words in my mouth, TDK is fine, but it's still a pretty bloated story, but they managed to give the big scenes plenty of room to flourish, so i don't really have much to complain about. BB on the other hand, especially during the 3rd act, really loses a lot of it's big character moments in mess.

I could blink during that scarecrow on horseback scene and miss it, ruined what should have been a really intense comic book moment.

Check out this set video that was posted in the John Blake thread. I have never seen this before. My god, Gotham is a war zone. Look at that street. It looks like something out of a third world country. That's John Blake wielding a shot gun. Remember the Cinema Con footage had a shot like this, that we haven't seen yet.

Could you give me a specific example of exactly what you would streamline?

How is it bloated? People keep saying this without giving a proper example.

With Begins, I think a lot of the problems come simply from how it was written, not the time given. Scarecrow's exit is kind of funny, but I agree that it should of been handled better. I also wished they had played up the visions of the fear toxin.

Sorry, what exactly are you referring to here? I was saying that it was most likely locked a while back if they had gone into sound mix and if the release date is in two months.
Sorry, was quoting someone's assertion that it would be cut at this late in the game if it was over 3 hours.

IF something was screened yesterday, it was final cut. Not saying it's definitely 3 hours, but Nolan would NOT be cutting now. No way.

Actually had a smile on my face for the quick little camera movement that shows down the street. Ever since I saw that people were saying TDKR was gonna be a war like film, as morbid as it sounds, I wanted Gotham to be absolutely torn to *****.

Although I would love an epic that's over 3 hours, I'm only going to have hope of 3 hours plus, but expect just shy of 3 hours.
Just seems more likely.
