Not according to most people

No...according to most people, TAS-M was the third string when in the running with TDKR and Avengers.

Who are these "most people" you assume to? The posters in the Spidey boards? :lmao:

Who said you dont have the right to?
Just mentioning that you misunderstood them
No one in their right mind would say that TDKR would be behind TASM in terms of earnings

Who says someone has the right to come up with a biased opinion and say the most outlandish thing such as TAS-M beating out TDKR?

The bat fans are turning to Spidey for comparison because Avengers is too hot to handle

Yah, of course, sure. Why not :whatever:

Kinda figured Spidey would come third in this years comic book B.O battle...

1.) The Avengers
2.) The Dark Knight Rises
3.) The Amazing Spider-man
4.) Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance

Spider-man is still the most disappointing... it just kind of came and went without making much of an impact critically or commerically.

Yeah it was successful in broad strokes. But nothing you'd want to shout about either.

:up::up::up::up:

I didn't even bother watching Ghost Rider, but I'm positive this list is accurate.

It doesn't have to be incredible, but at least a very good movie. Like 85% positive on RT worthy.

ok, maybe TASM isn´t 85% but i think the sequel has more to offer than an Origin story and even The Amazing Spiderman is 73% i liked it more than Spiderman 1 and if TASM2 plays it´s cards well it can reach the 85% :woot:
but im not trying to get all thst hyped because of SONY

Why would anyone fear for the Spider-man franchise?

The character will always (for the foreseeable future) be popular...

They'll mould and bend the character to suit any given studio's needs. If the sequel greatly underperforms they'll either reboot again (and hope to strike a nerve) or give it a rest for a few years.

Either way the Spider-man franchise will be fine.

The franchise(the name) of it alone will be fine.

Webb's series? It's iffy already.

maybe the Unresolved stuff is what they are going for and i want to see what they can do for the sequel

Has there been anything definite on webb coming back?

I find it odd that in the history of superhero films, only Sam Raimi and Christopher Nolan managed to pull off a trilogy.

And only Nolan came out of it all intact.

Looking at Total Recall's performance so far, I think it's safe to say that it'll be undoing quite a bit of the good that TASM brought to Sony, profit-wise.

I can imagine the sequel with a lower budget, but that may not be a bad thing. However, Sony might get desperate for TASM2 to be a major hit, and that would be a bad thing.

Spiderman 3 could´ve been good but then .......Sony intervened :wow:

Thank God WB had a bit more sense... Nolan left of his own accord (with dignity and acclaim), Raimi was very much pushed.

Expect a greenlight rush job for May 2014, be it with Webb or not. Sony can not justify sitting on their biggest properties for 3-4 years, and Spidey is pretty much the only thing they can remotely bank on... for now.

I think Sony needs to stop BSing with Webb, decide who they want, and get a script NOW. Filming in February or March. If they dilly dally and screw around with the sequel we will end up with more mediocre trash. I have the same fears for Cap/IM/Thor as well, but at least Marvel Studios has a slightly better track record thus far with individual characters.

so was Webb ... i think, so i hope they don´t intervene as much for the next spiderman movie

It makes you wonder if Warner Brothers really learned their lesson in letting a director have full control with a CBM as they did with Nolan and Batman and Snyder and Watchmen. I hope the same goes for Man of Steel.

WB seems to be on the right path minus the failures such as Jonah Hex and Green Lantern while other studios still try to force their hand with CBM directors.

Although certain aspects that still kills it for me would have been in the original product such as the Uncle Ben retcon.

Spider-Man will always be Spider-Man. Raimi's movies, despite the third being a flop, are still successful and popular.

Webb made a reboot, and it could go either way. The sequel will determine the fate of his film series. If it fails, we might still get a third film, or it will be cancelled (kind of like how the Fantastic Four films stopped before a third could be made), or they will just continue making more films.

If the next movie is bad, please let them either reboot it or let spider-man go back to marvel (at least let them cut a deal with marvel).

I think the problem with Green Lantern was simply the director. This is one of the situations where the interference of the studio could have benefited.

I remember the director saying what attracted him to do the movie: money.

Webb really seems passionate about the movie, and I think without him, we wouldn't have had great chemistry between Peter and Gwen.

I agree. I actually think Webb is what prevented this movie from being a wreck.

And it was bad enough as it is
I don't really think the movie was bad though. Spider-Man 3 was bad. This wasn't "Amazing" but still.

Just because Webb doesn't return doesn't mean the sequel will be terrible though. Depends on who takes over.

I don't get why Raimi gets all of the credit for Spider-man 2 and Avi Arad gets all the credit for Spider-man 3.

Guess which movie Sam Raimi both WROTE and directed.

Because Sam Raimi was forced to include the symbiote/venom storyline in Spider-Man 3 the last minute. Because of this, the film had to begin shooting while the script was receiving massive changes.

But alot sucks about SM3, not just the tacked on Venom content.

Plus a great director can still make a decent movie with a bad script. So really Raimi had no one to blame but himself.

SM3 is so bad it seems Raimi ruined the movie intentionally just because he didn't like being strong armed by the studio. He should've still tried to make the best movie possible instead of taking his huge paycheck to screw over the fans.

I think Sam Raimi was under a ton of stress, and eventually he had enough. None of us know exactly what happened, so its hard to judge. Heck, he is still human, and he made a mistake.

Webb did his best with the film, and so did the cast (and I mean everybody really put their heart into that movie, and it shows). Andrew and Emma had beautiful chemistry, and Rhys Ifans gave a great performance as Dr. Connors. I really hope he returns for future films and helps out Peter in times of trouble (science related stuff of course).

While Avi Arad should never get all the "credit" for Spider-Man 3, Arad DID force Raimi into using the symbiote/Venom. It's just that Raimi should have at least walked off because from that moment on, it lowered the integrity of the film. Sam Raimi was part of the writing team to create the script, and he DID film a lot of better scenes that were substituted which could've still been because of Arad and/or Sony.

Plus a great director can still make a decent movie with a bad script.

Name one movie that has a great director that made a decent film from a bad script.

Sam and his brother wrote the first draft for SM3. Then Avi said to add Venom.

The script for this was bad IMO and Webb didn't make a decent movie...he made a mediocre movie. Maybe Webb and Raimi both should have tried a little harder.
