The Amazing Spider-Man The Amazing Spider-Man (First Reactions: Critics, Fans) (Spoiler Alert) - - - - - Part 14

I noticed the flag painted on the side of the building.

but, I hated the crane scene, it......didn't even make sense.

I mean........there are BUILDINGS!!! HELLO??!!! Spidey can't swing from those when he's been doing it all along??

it's not like Spidey had to swing over a body of water or something where there was no structure for him to swing from.......

He was doing just that, watch again.Swinging and sticking to the building and then trying to climb up for another swing.Since he was injured ke kept falling off and kept getting slower

With cranes there all he needed to do was consecutive swinging without wall crawling

I don't get the hate for the crane scene. I didn't find it that cheesy to be honest. Loved the moment, where Spidey webs his leg to put pressure on the bullet wound. Then the moment where he is limping and then finally starts to run was epic. Plus the swinging in that sequence was amazing.

This film gets better with each viewing. Just got back and keep smiling. Can't wait to own this little beast on Blu-ray.

plus, in a movie that's supposed to be "grounded in realism," the crane scene just feel really cheesy and out of place.

Yeah, um, they made a point of Spidey trying to swing from the buildings and he kept smacking into them because... well, physics lol. He needed a clear, straight path.

I don't get the crane scene hate, it didn't come out of nowhere. Spidey rescued this guy's son earlier in the film in a very poignant moment and later in the film Spidey is really hurting. He's been battered and wounded badly by the Lizard twice, hunted by the police, tazed, shot in the leg and at that point it was obvious he wasn't going to make it to Oscorp tower in time without some help.

More and more, I realize this movie was slapped together to retain the rights and keep the money coffers full. Sony wasn't interested in making a good movie, or even one that made a great deal of sense. Thank God Webb, Garfield, and Stone were able to pull the emotion out of what was essentially a corporation pimping off a beloved hero for no other reason than to continue it.

What a ridiculous statement,so they spend 220 million dollars to retain the rights?? LMAO
They made 2 amazing spidey movies previously on a140Million and 200 million budget
And you say they spend 220 million and did not want the movie to be good?

Having mulled the flick over a couple days , I feel ASM is the unfinished story in alot of ways, as opposed to untold story. I think all the cutting Sony mandated of the major plot points in the film, really did the story harm. From what i've read , Marc Webb's final cut really did seem to break away from the other films with its own spin on the origin in relation to Peters Parents. Additionally , several plot threads that were dropped midway appeared to be resolved in the final version. I still like the film but I think it would have been better had Sony not cut out so much stuff .

I disagree with complaints about The Lizard being underdeveloped. He's as developed as either Osborn or Ock were, and he may even have more to him as a character. He's certainly not as thin as people want to label him.

The weakness int he writing of the Lizard was that there was not a whole lot of "struggle" between man and lizard, and not much commentary in terms of genetic manipulation/natural instincts VS man's desire to purge himself of natural flaws, etc. Not that this stuff wasn't in the movie, it just wasn't fleshed out a whole lot.

I've seen the movie 3 times already. 3 days in a row. Going to see it for the 4th time on Friday or Saturday and then maybe another 2 or 3 times in the coming weeks :P

His motivations just became so scrambled. I got what he wanted to do, and it's something we've seen before, but it was so sudden it was just like okay, first he starts out as a guy with good intentions, then once he turns to the Lizard, he suddenly wants to turn people into Lizards, then he goes back to being good. It just felt uneven. You have something to work with there, it just got lost within everything was going on, I thought it could have been handled in a better way.

They had some good ideas, it's just the execution seemed to have gotten lost in the shuffle with the other things going on around it. Which is why the simplicity of the first two films made the villains motivations and schemes feel developed and even.

It can even be a gut feeling you get when watching something. Immediately during the Connors lab scene I suddenly kind of went, "Wait... what?" With something like Ock or the Goblin it just flowed and I bought it. A questionable thought never came to mind. It rolled with whatever was going on in the narrative.

I'm curious if Richard Roeper even plans on reviewing this film. He's normally a fan of this genre, unlike Ebert.

The 2D showing I wanted to see sold out while waiting to get a ticket so I bought the next one which was 3D and had to wait around for 2hrs but it was worth it, first in like and I got bomb ass seats.
