Of course the love story is important. Why do you think The Death of Gwen Stacy is considered the best Spidey story ever told?

Exactly. And we can't have a story like that without the romantic connection. God, I can't wait to see that story play out onscreen.

Word. I feel bad for actively rooting to see Gwen die, especially since it's Emma Stone, but... :oldrazz:

The sort-of-unfortunate thing is that she has now become a character who is destined to die. It happens in some way or form...whether it's being thrown off a bridge or absorbed by Carnage ;) I'm glad Emma wishes to do that storyline justice on film.

From the previous thread. I didn't get a Twilight vibe at all, but I haven't seen those movies. I thought the romance was handled well. It didn't feel tacked on or forced.

Here's the thing about Twilight: there's nothing wrong with romance. It may not be my bag, but I can see why the genre has merit. Twilight's problem is that it has a vapid main character, two love interests who are totally one-dimensional, and it throws in a supernatural component that really adds very little to the story.

I don't know why anyone would listen to those "reviews" at all. It doesn't even sound like they've seen the movie...

I think the Umpalumpa guy saw it , (sorry for not remembering his name:csad:) and he said is good also Kendo,Eggyman saw it + 91% on RT and RIM well he didn´t like it im fine with it
FOR ME I HATE THE TWILIGHT THING ,not every movie with romance and sci-fi has to twilight

It's really all about this. It's not what they did... well part of it is what they did, but it's mostly about how they did it. How they executed the romance.

But anywho, I do want to see Gwen Stacy fall off a bridge.

But here's the thing now with fanboys: Romance=Twilight. It sucks but that's the world we live in now. The minute two character admit they love each other and if they just so happen to be in high school, it's twilight. It's a very odd turn of events which I don't get. Casablanca is one of my favorite flicks of all time and it's all about romance but hey, I guess even Humphrey Bogart has a little Edward Cullen in him..Ingrid Bergman too:rimshot:

Wait a minute, I thought we had rules about IMDB on here? Like not believing anything you read, whether it is good or bad.

Not sure if it's like this everywhere but I just checked out my theatres website and they're actually playing the movie at 8 and 11 PM on July 2nd. I live in the lower mainland in BC, so if you're out this way check it out. I'm definitely going then. :)

A supernatural component that just mocks the lore and mythology. That dumbass writer had no idea what vampires are in its lore from the very beginning and made **** up. It's just distasteful. If she just wanted a romance series, why the hell bring in something that could bring a lot of fans only to massacre the element?

I don't get the Twilight comparisons at all to be honest. Imo, so what if there's a love story in this film? We've seen that happen before in CBMs and one comes to mind is a little ol' movie called The Dark Knight yet no one even dares try to compare that to Twilight.

The characters in TAS-M will not be one dimensional and the acting will not want you to beat your head with a baseball bat. And the obvious Emma Stone > Kristen Stewart.

You guys know how the Nostalgia Critic feels about the Bat-credit card from Batman & Robin? I feel the same way about Twilight's glimmering vampires.

People have been calling this Twilight since the first trailer so I doubt the Twilight comparison is based on actual details from the movie.

It has all the signs of a pre-judgement to me.

The twilight thing really bothers me lol. Just for the fact that they seem to think romance must mean twilight lol

I think these guys missed the Raimi trilogy didn't they. They seemed to focus on the romance (and for me, poorly, but that's my opinion) and so I don't get why this is being held as a negative.

as many have said, romance is a part of spidey. So if you hate TASM for that, surely you should not like/hate the Raimi films for the same reason?

But as Messiah^ says, the twilight stuff sounds like pre-judgement. But who knows.

Those reviews from IMDB don't bother me in the least... every movie has its own fair share of negative reviews on that site, even beloved classics.

That youtube review starts at 4:05 for those who want to watch it.

He points out both good and bad and he seemed pretty open-minded about the reboot.

Problem of IMDB is that anyone can post a review or give a rating, you have no idea if they saw it or not.

Which should be obvious by now.

IMDB is good for data on actors/directors/future projects. But it's useless when trying to determine the quality of most movies.

I'm so torn between seeing it 2D or 3D. It seems like opinions on the 3D's worth are mixed.

I'd see it in 3D for the web-swinging alone. When I saw that at the Untold Event it was A-MAZING. :awesome: :spidey:
