Who, in general, is happy with Elektra and Catwoman? I think your problem with the comments hangs on your lack of understanding the sentiment.
What I meant was a WW and a Black Cat movie will be as bad as them, call me a pessimist but with the track record of the people involved and their desperation with aping Marvel, they are a disaster waiting to happen
And what was my main point is that how superficial people are, they are so hell bent on a Super-heroine movie that they don't realize Black Widow has been in as many movies Captain America and Thor and in more movies than Hulk and Hawk-eye
Characters like Jessica Jones and Agent Carter are gonna get their own shows with 10+ hours of screen time, but people don't see that
We're talking about a company that has pretty much made it's fortune on being diverse, on being different, on representing people as heroes from every walk of life who felt unrepresented. And as such, is sitting on many people's favorite women and POC characters.
And its also a company who has taken calculated risks and planned their movies to perfection. We all know how interconnected this universe has become, one bad movie and everything will feel the domino effect. They have a broad outline of a plan for movies for years to come, bullying them into making movies that don't fit at present will only result in bad, give them their time and they will give those movies to us
For Black Panther for example, they need to figure out how to portray Wakanda and how BP fits in the grand scheme of things
Do you want a movie with a Half-finished script,in an unsuitable time just because the universe needs more female characters?
The same can't be said of WB or Sony. A Cyborg movie interests few, however it's been announced. A Black Panther movie interests many, and it's unannounced.
And we both know that a Black Panther movie has a lot more chance of being made despite being 'unannounced'
The idea that Marvel is doing good enough or needs space is nice, until your favorite character is just sitting around and the only discernible reason is because they aren't deemed as marketable as a white male. In such cases, someone else not subscribing to that belief becomes 'ammunition' to encourage Marvel not to subscribe to it either. Not for some PC checkmark, but to deliver in the films everything that they've delivered in the comics, which includes having a diversity of lead characters. The comparison isn't with other studios. The comparison is with Marvel comics that we grew up on.
I disagree completely
If I had been asked 10 years ago that Marvel would start making their own movies and someone would ask who they would make their 'main' character(apart from Spider-man and the X-men of course),I would have said Daredevil and Hulk without thinking twice
Are those two not white males? Then why aren't they getting their own movies?
The best thing about Marvel if that they have a strong creative force which they strongly believe in,and they won't give in to bullying and fanboy lash
Trust me,it never is a good thing to blindly trust fanboys(getting feedback is another thing),I mean Sony ended their trilogy because the fans wanted Venom and they caved it.The same thing happened with TASM2,they made a decent first movie and then caved into pressure and changed everything from the costume to the tone and ruined the movie because of all the Sinister six build-up because the fans wanted them.Do you want the same thing to happen to Marvel movies?
The way Marvel make and decide movies has nothing to do with them being white males or being more popular
They made GoGT to introduce a cosmic theme to the universe, they are making Doctor Strange to introduce a supernatural side of things,it has
nothing to do with them being white males
They know making a Black Widow movie will bring nothing new to the table just like making a Hawk-eye movie wont
They have a plan set on when to introduce characters like Black Panther and Captain Marvel and there is no need to force them
