I respectfully disagree, one of the things that made comic books popular is that the heroes were humanized. Things like romance, friendship, work, family, etc. complimented the action and the main hero/villain plot lines.

True, but they should evolve naturally and not dominate a story. This romance dominates Banners story, appears out of nowhere and it's totally out of character for him.

Pepper and Tony evolved slowly and worked because they have so much in common (same for Cap and Peggy). The ScienceBros friendship works because they have common interests. This romance is forced between two characters with nothing in common.

How can it be out of character for Banner to have a romance? You also haven't watched the film so you cannot say it appears out of nowhere. Plenty of relationships have occurred in the past between people with little in common, something like love cannot be easily or logically explained. Sometimes people fall in love in mysterious ways (words of Ed Sheeran). :oldrazz:

Not a romance, but a romance with Widow. He's got serious trust issues and he gets involved with someone who's a spy with a long history of being mistrusted? Out of character and a predictable accident waiting to happen.

But it does. Widow suddenly flirts with the Hulk at the beginning of the movie and then they get involved very quickly based on the leaks. This is even referenced/criticised by the early reviews.

And they don't last very long and typically don't benefit either party. Best relationships in the MCU are all based on shared experience and having common interests like Pepper and Tony.

Super heroes arent human. They cant fall in love!!

I remember Widow flirting with Banner in the first Avengers movie to be honest. We also don't know how it's going to be executed. I have heard mixed reactions in regards to the romance so I can't actually come to a conclusion based on early reviews.

Banner and Widow have common experiences and they both have red on their ledger. Neither one of them sees themselves as heroes. There are many angled you could use for their romance. But then again...I'm not a writer.

(can we take this shipper wars back to tumblr where they belong?)

this cast is so touchy-feely with each other :ilv:

:yay: I'm not a shipper just a Banner/Hulk fan disappointed with the direction this characters development has taken.

looks like there were a few screenings in oz/aus yesterday (but almost everyone is obeying to the embargo):

The Movie Lad ‏@themovielad1
Just watched Queensland Premiere of Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's an epic and everything I expected it to be. I love Marvel!

WeAreBrisbane/Kelly ‏@WeAreBrisbane
Just came back home from advanced screening of #Avengers #AgeofUltron. Under strict orders of embargo I can't say if it was GREAT or bad.

Sam McCosh ‏@sakura_59
Just saw AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON - it features my two celeb crushes Mark Ruffalo and Scarlet Johansson. Review coming Wednesday.

The Reel Thing ‏@The_Reel_Thing
Just saw Avengers: Age of Ultron... And that's pretty much all I can say until Wednesday so here's a shot of me...

Damn that's some strict embargo, they seem to like it though based on what they have said to others. :)

Not to be a know it all but I sensed some kind of spark between Bruce and Natasha when he screamed at her in Avengers 1.

Bruce and Betty were doing the romance thing in both Hulk movies, so why is it out of character for him? Its just a different person in AOU.

Respectfully, there was NO spark in Avengers. It's like saying Tony and Cap should date because they argued in the movie (now that is classic Tumblr). :whatever:

If Whedon dropped the Pepper and Tony romance in AoU IM fans would justifiably be upset. Why should Hulk fans be happy to see Betty disappear and be replaced with Widow just because Whedon wants a beauty and the beast story (stated in his EW interview) and obviously doesn't like Hulks story in the MCU? :cmad:

Just got back from seeing it! It was really good, and definitely worth watching again because of the amount of action / cool moments, as well as the busy plot. Should I answer questions here or in the spoiler thread?

If I had to rate it, i'd give it a 9/10

How good is it compared to the 1st Avengers, and to other MCU or comic films in general?

Spitfire: I thought there was a spark of something between em. I didnt say that for no reason. ??? And Tony and Bruce had the Science Bro thing goin on. Women and Men have different ways of showing their feelings usually.

Im not upset about Betty being replaced by Widow at all. Peoples lives arent set in stone even in movies. Their relationship will either seem believable/cool or it wont. I have to see the movie before I can judge that.
