That scene between them is one of the highlights of the whole film IMO.

Well , sooner or later everyone is gonna take a bath in the comicbook film biz.

Just a couple of weeks ago WB and Snyder were getting bashed for the BvS trailer and for "ruining comicbook movies" and by making them "Dark and Depressing".

Now there are critiques of Marvel for their handling of AOU and the MCU going forward, and accusations of Sexism toward Whedon.

So if you're around long enough, and are high profile enough, you're gonna take your lumps I guess. :whatever:.

I'm with Ruffalo on that one. It was Hulk who needed the saving emotionally. He just was too scared to let her. I loved that personally.

You either die a hero or...

I'm hype for Jessica Jones and Purple man.
And Harley and the Joker.
These weird people will rage.

I dont think this has been posted here yet. It talks about the Black Widow controversy.

I personally agree with this author. Natasha(and Joss, by extension) is not trying to say that women are monsters if they cant have children. Actually its Banner that insinuates that he is a monster, and Nat just shares some of her deepest kept moments with him, showing that she is not much different than he is. Also, there is the fact that its not Natasha's inability to have children that she is upset about, its her inability to choose her own path in life.
I think the whole issue is the complete misunderstanding of BW's character growth over her 4 appearances in the MCU and then people misinterpreting a pretty clear idea that Whedon had for Bruce and Natasha.

Agree with Ruffalo's take on Banner needing BW more so than her needing him. I'm wondering if people are turned off by the Bruce/Natasha relationship because they were holding out for Natasha/Clint.

James gunn also came to Whedons Defense

sorry I suck at everything twitter including copying tweets lol

Most of you are aware of this, but anyone who urges a filmmaker to kill himself over a movie plot point needs to seriously examine his life.

As fans it's our duty to take what we don't love with what we do & accept not everything will play out onscreen as we imagined.

What a concept!!!

Gunn's 2nd Tweet is a perfect statement in how fans should act when a film diverges from expectations and previously held comic book beliefs.

Sounds like the same stuff people kept saying about DOFP not having enough "Cherik". I know it's fun to make theories about characters but if those theories don't come true and people end up sending death threats that's just crazy. Tumblr needs to chill.
It's not just people on Tumblr; I think fans in general need to chill. The double-edge sword that is social media has been both a blessing and a curse for movies and their stars.

That scene with Bruce and Nat in the bedroom had my emotions going. If you compare it to TIH with Ed and Liv, it was so much more impactful for me.

Yeah man...I still can't get over the whole bad blood thing between itchy and scratchy

I loved that. I love the whole farm sequence. Humanizing the super human. My heart always embraces character stuff anyway.

That stuff is so important to these movies. The action and FX are the easy part I think.

Anyone else finds it weird that there's a whole army of people on Twitter with Maximoff twins avatars and names spewing hate all over the place in the vein of Bieber/1D fans? Like just a month ago I never saw anything like that and now when I searched for Martin Freeman on Twitter, there's a whole bunch of them hating on him. Did tumblr just discover MCU last month or what?

The MCU was always loved on Tumblr, i remember seeing a lot of Avengers stuff in there when the first film came out.

That's exactly the case for some weird people, their fanfiction/shipping are ruined.

"-Welp

All of my ClinTasha head canons got Joss’d. Literally. Thanks a lot.

"You know what Marvel should have done? They should have let Natasha be a strong female character without throwing in a damn romance we didn’t even want. If they didn’t want to give us Clintasha they should have just let her keep holding her own as she was, without resorting to a dagblasted love story. That’s what makes me the most angry about this film. Natasha was doing just fine as a compelling character when she was a single lady assassin in the last three films. If they gave us some Clintasha and kept her character none of us would have minded. But instead they re- wrote her character and threw her after Banner. "

Yeah especially Loki is huge there.

I'm not sure how much of the backlash to Brutasha is due to shipping. I'm just speculating, but I even suspect that
the sexist backlash to the fertility statement isn't from fanboys and girl's but more from the causal filmgoer who may have been taken aback by the revelation and took the "monster"phrase wrong and was offended by it.

I think we as fans have to keep in mind that the vast majority of people going into these films aren't fanboys who know every story arch and background of each of the characters, and further aren't people who are likely to hang on every word or line of dialog a character say's.

So while I concur with the feeling that Whedon wasn't being sexist , I can see how someone just coming in to the film without the context of the character's background jump to conclusions without fully stepping back and looking at what was actually said.

Even though
Natasha told her whole backstory and clearly didn't imply she was a monster for what they did to her biologically,
the average film goer may have a visceral reaction to what words and phrases they heard regardless of the intent of the words and phrases. Especially when you're dealing with a subject most people don't take lightly, and don't expect to deal with when watching a superhero film.

Fair or not, the GA comes to these films with a certain expectation of what they'll see and hear, and I don't think anyone outside of fanboys expected that to even be an issue. Not saying that Whedon shouldn't have tackled it , but I'm saying that it may have felt like a sucker punch. You just never know when you're dealing with the GA what subjects may get a passionate reaction or backlash.

One thing Whedon makes you do with his writing, is think. I feel like the majority of the GA doesnt want to think about what was said, or what it really meant. Its just *BAM* jump to conclusion. I have to say, though, its really refreshing to come here, to this site, and see civilized discussion about the topic, and no one is getting a flared up.

its funny about Clintasha. Now I wonder what wouldve happened if they had hooked those two up in AOU. People probably wouldve just accepted it since theyve been good friends. Since its Bruce and Nat, thats somehow off limits? Ridiculous.

I mean, Nat specifically said in TA that she wasn't in love with Clint, but owed him a debt for sparing her life. Not sure what people are so upset about.

I could see people being more upset that Bruce has abandoned Betty. But at the end of the day these are fictional characters in one medium of content. If you don't like the way the movies are going then read the comics that fit your fictional emotional needs.
